EPIC $75 PANORAMIC VIEW Train in Indonesia (Yogyakarta to Bandung) 🇮🇩

- Having travelled on some of the world’s best trains in Sri Lanka, I was keen to see what Indonesia had to offer.
But my journey from Yogyakarta to Bandung wouldn’t necessarily be a direct comparison - this one from Yogyakarta to Bandung promised panoramic views from an extra special carriage fitted with enormous glass windows.
It came at a price, however. My ticket cost me 1,200,000 Rp (around $75), which was several times the price of even a first class seat!
With much anticipation I boarded the train bound for Bandung and settled into my seat, reviewing the service and chatting to friendly passengers and the incredible staff members along the way.
There was also some interesting local food served on the train, and I had opportunity to review the nasi ayam, sambal, and even popcorn as the world rolled by.
The 7 hours flew by, and before I knew it, I was nearly in Bandung. The route offered some incredible views, right up there with the best rail journeys in the world. It might just be the world’s most scenic train ride - at least, on my journey so far…

Actually, this Panoramic class is classified as Luxury Class, not First Class. So far I know, above the economic class and executive class there are the luxury class which divided into 4 variants : Luxury Type A (earlier with seats like an egg shape), another one Luxury type B, seats in a 1-1 formation with more privacy partitions, and then Panoramic train, and the last one which is more newest Premium New Generation class with electronic doors. Maybe the top one class in long distance intercity trains is the Suite Class Compartment with high tech seats which are all electronic and have massage fiture facilities. Luxury classes and Suite Class include VIP lounge on each train station, in train services get 1 time full meal, and 1 time snacks, blacket, headphone, and free for variety drinks in that carriages with special standby staff for serve the pessangers.
In fact, Indonesia's railways are still continuing to improve and improve with many innovations. But it's a shame, perhaps because the condition of the rail track is quite old, so often on certain routes there are jerks and pretty swings & waving. However, complete repairs are difficult to carry out, apart from requiring large costs but also because they are routinely used at a high operational level. I see that Indonesia's railways services are still focused on developing services and comfort in trains and stations. Hopefully soon there will be improvements to the train track which will be flatter and also upgrading the soundproofing carriages.
That’s an absolute flex! I’ll have to arrive earlier and check out the VIP lounge next time - surely they’ll have more yellow bananas!!

@@alfutuhasror actually Premium Economy price is fluctuating depend on what day you buy the ticket for. 150k up to 250k i think.
One tips when you are taking Whoosh, dont buy the tix online but on the spot. Come an hour or 90mins early, cheaper by 50k or 3GBP
actually the price is changes depend on the dates you choose, if it's holiday or weekend the price will be more expensive.
train in general is the best way to travel around imo.
Fast and reliable, on top of that, comfortable!

You are wrong. For this journey between Yogyakarta to Bandung it was 1.2M as I stated. Perhaps that price might be the shorter route between Bandung and Jakarta?

16:15 that's definitely a Polsuska or Train Police, KAI and Indonesian Police have colaborated to recruit more special police like this to make sure the train trips is safe. They usually walk with train conductor when inspecting passengers coach on coach 😊

You must try gumarang busines class train sir. There is a legend class in indonesia railway and now will be rare because manyal facilities was pension. And still some facilities still operate today and of gumarang train but carriage use are old.

I'm an Indonesian who has never taken this train, I really want to take the panoramic train but it's still expensive in my opinion
I agree, it’s a lot of money, but will make for a very special occasion. I personally think that there are some great views available just before bandung that can be enjoyed from any carriage, for a fraction of the price 🤝
