    • @penadugas
      @penadugas 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why do you think he is underrated? The guy was the cover of guitar magazines multiple times, awarded the best guitarist multiple times, probably is the guitarist with the most number of co-developed/signature equipment in the whole industry… I can’t understand why you think he is underrated and underappreciated???

    • @donnamignemi
      @donnamignemi 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He is not underrated amongst guitarists, perhaps. But if you walk down the street and interview 100 random people, you might be lucky to find a few who have heard of him. But mention somebody like Slash, and most will know who he is. Mark flies under the radar and I think a lot of it is because he is so humble and not the "look at me" type.

    • @penadugas
      @penadugas 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@donnamignemican anyone these days name any guitar player that is recognized by the community post 1995? Slash is from the era of rock was mainstream and guitar heroes existed. So, I don’t think it is a Mark thing… it is just a fact that rock is no longer mainstream and no one knows any guitar player these days anymore.

    • @blaness13
      @blaness13 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@penadugas I see what your saying, and sure, more guitar oriented people are going to know who he is, but realistically, the only project he has that is a household name is creed, and at that people most likely won't know the guitarist name,
      Most people don't know who alter bridge is or he solo project(s) either, a lot of his stuff flies under the radar unless you really have your finger on the pulse of rock and metal stuff,
      again guitar players are going to know more than likely than not, but for someone that is so skilled in songwriting, guitar playing, finding great melodies and killer riffs, and just having an ear for what makes great rock and metal music, I'd say he's definitely underrated as a musician, but less so in guitar circles,

    i used to think wow those guitar riffs are insane and very interesting, glad i had such great bands to have listened to when i was very young.
    without hearing music to become inspired by, i wouldnt have become so inspired to start my own music journey, so thanks to mark tremonti and thanks to creed and the team and management behind the scenes.

    finally one of my favorite guitarists gets interviewed by another of my favorite guitarists lol. Its such a weird feeling nowadays when I talk about Creed and dont get immediately shunned out of the room. I spent my teenage years learning and playing his material, and when i crawled through my final event in Boot Camp, Higher was playing through massive speakers. It was such a zen moment for me completing one of the things noone said I could do, and then at the moment I completed my trial that song started playing. Cant describe for you that feeling, and no drug will ever get close to that feeling of accomplishment..
    The only thing that I genuinely struggle with emulating his crystal clear clean tones. I still play PRS Custom 24s but I prefer FIshman Fluence Willie Adler active pickups as opposed to Tremonti's signature pickups..... so it makes it REALLY hard to use just my guitars volume knob rolled down for those perfect cleans. I wouldnt mind getting his "baritone" version of his sig to go along with my USA Holcomb.

    I recall reading a article in 97-98ish where Mark mentioned the formation of creed’s lineup in their beginning. Something about a jam where Mark & Phillips impressed each other while playing several Living Colour songs from Times up & Vivid. Specifically Elvis is dead, Information overload, Desperate People. Apparently nobody in attendance knew any of it except Mark. It’s at this point, Scott P also knowing the material, made his way behind the kit to back up Mark. Always admired Mark & Scott as well as that interview. Playing LC isn’t for the novice or inexperienced. Definitely can hear Vernon & Will’s influence on both of them. Especially Scott. Of all the Will Calhoun clones, Scott has created his own unique identifiable sound perhaps better than any of his contemporaries. Jamming LC seems to be a common story amongst many musicians from this era.

  • @frankwestphal8532
    @frankwestphal8532 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Tremonti is, IMO, an under rated serious metal guitarist. Dude is not messing around when he plays. There's only a certain percentage of people who will understand that kind of intensity. Personally, I effing love it, and wish I had followed more of his work over the years. When you start doing Randy Rhoads and Zakk Wylde type stuff in milliseconds between chords, you're crushing it. It's like time slows down, and you become of a master of it in those moments. Laying down a couple a chords is nothing. Writing a good song is much better. Doing both, and then throwing some wah, trem, solos licks, solos, harmonics, and whatever else is, getting close to mastery on the electric.
    The best playing I ever did was alone at 3 am in my studio in San Diego. Wah, trem, custom pre-amp tubes (use an AT-7 in your first gain stage, and maybe even second gain stage and it cleans the sh!t out of your tone but you still get the gain out of the AX-7s) that I mic checked like 50 times and recorded them all to figure out the best combination in my 6505 plus. And I'm not even joking.... the best delay I've ever gotten (maybe even ever heard) running my 6505 plus effects loop through a BOSS BR-8, with 2 GT-75s, and and 2 Vintage 30s in my 4x12, and EMGs 81 and 85 in a Dean ML Standard. The only way I think it could have gotten better, was if was playing a Les Paul studio, but same everything else. The only thing missing was a little bit more sustain. Oh... and cut the highs on your lead channel. The wah will make up for it. I made that mistake for SO long, and had to re amp a bunch of solos to buffer those harsh 2-4k frequencies. It's amazing how much more stoked you are when everything you do, sounds like it's right off your favorite album.
    And one last thing... one of the best tones I've gotten was full gain on that setup, but just rolling back the volume on those EMGs, with that exact setup. It's like "See you on the other side" verse tone. Just watery, and dynamic, but pronounced and balanced. Absolutely beautiful. The AT-7s make a HUGE difference in dynamic response and clarity. You'll never get it out AX-7s in your first gain stage.

    Never really enjoyed his music though he has had some great riffs in bands like Alter Bridge. Always liked him as a person, I use his signature guitar amp too, which is fucking brilliant.

    Arizona has better winters than Florida. The tourism is manageable. A lot of things to do where you're not facing out of towners.

    The host always looks like he doesn't sleep. Is this purposeful look seeing that he goes by nocturnal? Or does he actually have a medical issue? Just curious, not joking.

      Personally I think they are incredible. I love how they blend genres to create a very unique sound. The whole mask, cult lore is a bit gimmicky but I guess they just don't want their identities known which is understandable. I wouldn't want to be famous either

      They're pretty lame - overprocessed digitized soulless new school Gen Z metal (or whatever tf you call their genre).
