I think this is the most accurate recreation of a guitar being loaded and unloaded from the cargo hold of a jumbo jet ✈️ the balcony test should have been done twice to replicate the return journey.
It really was the Science that was the star in this video. How you got a controlled environment, and so many qualified scientists, for this test is amazing. The bag is pretty cool too.

"An expert of instrument destruction", I immediately thought "Is it Glenn?" My suspicions were confirmed. That man is the go-to to attempt to destroy gear.
I really liked this video. I'm glad you had some more scientific minds on the channel Colin. I appreciate your typical haphazard approach, but it was nice to see what the real scientists on the tubes!
Great video! We've seen a couple of these now for high quality gigbags, and now I'm very curious to see how this compares to similar-priced hard cases (or more affordable, since this is a _very_ expensive gigbag at $350). How well would they hold up to the same abuse. This gigbag costs substantially more (and even up to over double) the price of almost _all_ of the hard cases on Sweetwater for example, and the ones that cost _this_ much are either fancy luxury cases or very sturdy, highly padded, fully waterproof flight cases with built in wheels and locks that you would tour with.
Does Henning own a small village, is there some backstory to how he organises these things? Mono make pretty good stuff, I like their straps, so not surprised their case is pretty good.
You're not far off, between Henning and his family they own several houses on that street. It's a fairly unique situation, but affords a lot of space and freedom to do nonsense like this
400€ for a guitar case is quite a prohibiting price for the average gigging musician... But the sheer insanity that you put this case through, is a testament to both its durability and the guitar's safety.
On the price: 400 is not much to pay as compared to the cost in repairing or replacing an instrument that gets severely damaged in transit. Given that a lot of guitars can cost thousands, are custom made, or perhaps have vintage value - spending a decent amount on protection is very much worth the investment.
There is the Gator Alternative with apr. 500 4.7+ reviews on thomann for 140 Euro. It’s looking great as well. If I was to give my guitar with it, I’d wrap my guitar with a soft thin blanket and put in gigbag then don’t worry about anything
For what it's worth, two drummers (rdavidr and Stephen Taylor) put three similarly priced snare drum cases (120 to 130 bucks) through extreme conditions, drum included. One of them was a Gator, and that one did the poorest job of protecting the drum.
@@ZeeEm1991Gr Yeah now I seen the drum cases don’t look sturdy and ppl also reviewed as not suitable for gigging. But I think it depends on the model. The one I am talking about is Gator G-PG. I think from throwing test the guitar got a bad damage on Mono ‘’Ultra’’. I believe this Gator would be very identical to It. Henning also have a throwing test video for the thomann safe case. But probably I’d still get Gator one, and wrap the guitar with a blanket inside if giving it to check in not preventable, and absolutely cabins are small, and I was told to give it to baggage.
hopefully there will be another video coming out doing the same tests with a decent hard case. or this abuse with a guitar with a tilted headstock design. im betting that guitar wouldn't have been chipped/cracked being thrown off a balcony with a hard case...
having just gotten an electric unicycle myself i'm not so much looking for a case, like Henning, rather i want a belt mounted Amp so i can play while riding around. .what's the best one?
@@mylogify They only asked me to check it after I reached the gate because apparently the cupboards that I usually ask for my guitars to be stored in were "too small". I knew that was nonsense because I'd taken the same flight on many occasions before and never had any such trouble. But anyway, I chose not to piss the crew off and handed the guitars over, fully expecting that they'd have some damage once I got them back. But lo and behold and praise the Mono gigbag! Not a single scratch.
I hate torture porn film but why on earth I watch 18 minutes of expensive gig bag torture test. Being guitarist is never a rational choice. Anyway, I'm impressed there isn't significant tear on the fabric.
Fun video, but kinda comes across as a bunch of rich kids playing with all their cool toys. Would have been nice to point out the price at some point. 350 Euro. 95% of people can’t afford this. Or the One Wheel, or cart…. Glad you guys are having fun, but don’t forget where 95% of us still are and you were.
Prices aren't discussed in videos because prices change over time and are different depending on which country or store you are purchasing them from. Links are included for viewers to check the accurate price on the sales page in their own currency at the time they are watching the video. The product is aimed at professional musicians who tour and fly with their instruments, the price is appropriate for its intended user and the quality of the item. There is only one rich person and we all went to his house and played with his toys.

Little did they know that Colin was conducting a psychological test as well 😆
This was definitely the funniest scientific research I've been part of in a very long time 🤣 And managed to get a short workout, that's a plus! 😜
Thank you for your participation. Your contribution has enriched the world of science.
Love the final video Colin, was inside switching while most of the fun was happening.
"An expert of instrument destruction", I immediately thought "Is it Glenn?"

Jesus Christ the bots are fucking annoying.
The only thing left was a woodchipper for a literal “Will it shred?”

Fricker derived entirely too much pleasure out of that lol
His eyes lit up like a child on Christmas when he realised there was a guitar in the case and the mission was to stress test it.
@@ScienceofLoud he really is depraved.
HENNINGS HUMAN BROTH MACHINE!!! Haha! I love that
7:30 and now you can sell that Tele as “road worn”!
Alternative video title - "How to relic a gigbag, if you're into that kind of thing"
😂

I don't think we take our guitars out on a walk often enough.

loved it. I only missed a plugged in test before and after for total scientific accuracy :)
2:30 Well, that's my nightmare for the next few days sorted
Lol imagine looking out of your flat and watching all this go down. Hilarious.
9:25 Henning takes his guitar for a walk
Glad he didn’t fall down this time 😂.
Colin, dude. I need more Maria! 😍😍😍
If you want to see more of Maria then follow Lewitt microphones on instagram.

Man, you know how rich some one is by his toys and Henning has some sweet toys…..and 2 hot tubs.
Adopt me, Henning!
Mono cases can take SO much abuse from gigging, flights, touring, etc. but find themselves utterly helpless if you have a cat at home lol.
You should tag everyone in the video who has a youtube

I had mono when I was young, then the doctor gave me a shot for it!? 🤷♂️
Well, there it is, proof positive
UPS, FedEx and DHL have all incorporated this video into their new hire training curriculums as company SOP 🤣🤣
This was so stupid. I loved it!
Great video I am quite impressed but next time we need an SG for testing. Telecaster is far too durable these things don't even need a case
by the end it still looks better than a couple of my gigbags...
This is so satisfying to watch~~~
13:03 lol
Henning seemed to enjoy hot tub cuddling with the Mondo Case a little too much.
GAAHH blast it, been frickered again
Dear Lord... you guys weren't even drunk... smh
A few of us did end up very drunk later that night though
Today we learned not to throw your guitar in a hot tub
Let whistlin Diesel have a try!
Do this with a Gibson then we'll believe the hype :)

Correct, even decent damage insurance would work out much less. The case is cool though.

I wanted Colin, but I got Henning.
Go hard or go home. Or go in a hot tub. Can I go home *and* in a hot tub and leave the hard to the pros? (Stop giggling.)
Not sure if that was a test of the durability of the case or the GUITAR!😂😂😂😂 Especially the WET part!😁
😂
The test guitar should be a Gibson Les Paul!

I've waited so long for this!
Why did the airlines asked for you to give it to baggage? Because you had two? And dual gigbag was big for cabin?

Think the lutge will make it to the X-games?
There's simply no point in a gig bag, for your guitar. May as well use a shopping carrier bag.
Did you watch the video before leaving this comment? Or are you here to just spout a pre-existing opinion?
