The way cops act in this movie is so realistic because it's well documented that the reason so many serial killers get away for so long is because police don't investigate properly, ESPECIALLY if the perpetrator is Caucasian
That's not always true. Look up the California serial killer, the Grim Sleeper, who was black. Look up Anthony Sowell, another black serial killer. They don't care when the people are black or poor either.
Jeffery dahmer is a good example. They believed him when he claimed that 14 year old was his boyfriend
The people busted through the walls on mama like a scene from Michael Jackson’s thriller 😂
I always loved how mature fool is. It’s accurate to how quickly children in poverty have to grow up .
I am so glad you did this movie. Despite this movie being so popular, I always felt that this was super underrated compared to Wes Craven’s other movies (Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream). I remember telling my parents about the themes of gentrification in the movie and they were super shocked hearing about it 😭. They said they were too focused being scared LMFAO.
I literally said the exact same thing ("I'm so glad you did this movie!") And then I read the comment lol I was introduced to it in middle school by my best friend Molly. It's amazing. It is definitely underrated.
That's why lol it's an oxymoron. People don't know what to make of things they don't understand. This movie went over many ppls heads, including me. It's so scary, this should've been a horror film
Even when I was small I didn't want to watch this. Only read about it
I love the “pop ups”. Kinda like an homage to “pop up video” on vh1 in the 90s.
This movie is definitely a underrated classic. What’s crazy is it was inspired by a true story of a crazy family that kept kids trapped in a house for years.
Ok
@@Tiajones333A couple of brothers were attempting to break in the house. It was then the Police was called. Long story short the cops discovered the people in the house were locking their kids in.
My brother and I love this movie. We were cracking up laughing. My mother asked isn't that supposed to be a horror movie? You kids are sick 😂😂😂 as if she didn't constantly take us to Vincent Price & Halloween, Poltergeist and Carrie movies when we less than able to walk and
deal with all that and encourage us to read Stephen King & Dean Koontz novels. Who's the sick one?
My brother passed last month. I'm still hurting
Stay strong and treasure those memories!
I’m sorry for your loss! Take care❤️
I was upset when roach died. That was my dude.
I hate that they killed off roach. He was nice and a super saver.
I always forget this was Wes Cavern. He did that. This movie disturbed me so much as a kid.
Why the hell is daddy wearing that uniform 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀💀
Thats what I was trying to find out 😂😂😂
@@forthenostalgiaThey some greedy rich freaks
Ryan Murphy pulled heavily from this film for the first season of AHS. Nice!
Fool is an absolute badass in the movie
Yes he is! A true badass luckiest kid.
@@mizzjacquettaxx6974 And real talk, every time I watch this movie, I can't help but to call Alice "Rayanne" because the actress who played Alice in the movie played one of my favorite characters Rayanne on "My So-Called Life". Such an iconic show. A classic.
Factssss
I cannot tell you how much this movie FCKD ME UP as a kid.. still one of my faves tho. RIP Craven
Fun Fact: The sister is the girl that was arguing with Martin Lawrence in House party that was in the Passenger seat... "If ima B your mama a B" lol
I loved Fool he was the hood hero !
Not daddy doing the “I got him” dance 😂😂😂😂😂much love
Loved the ending when the community got involed💪🏿9️⃣, and people free from basement⚡️
My wife showed me this movie years ago when I was playing a game called Ico in which you play a boy who is also helping a girl in a long white dress escape a castle of an Evil Queen who is the girl's mother. She was reminded of this movie and showed it me and I'm pretty sure its my favorite 90s horror thriller comedy.
I heard of the movie but never saw it. Goes to show a few things: if you f*ck around, you will find out and how ppl truly don’t have your best interest at heart. Crazy movie indeed.
I definitely know the hint: HH!
Yep 😊
Man Ving Rhames was unintentionally hilarious in this movie 😂🤣 you should definitely do his other movie Holiday Heart next lmao
This movie was the first black protagonist in an horror movie
I believe that title goes to Ben in "Night of the Living Dead" (1968).
You right you right
I never heard of this movie but I'm so glad you covered this! So good glad the copyright didn't stop you ethier~
This movie is a classic masterpiece
It’s giving flowers under the attic before it became to be😂
Holiday Heart!
Well, this is Jeffrey Dahmer's Playhouse alright. Wes has been known for being clever with his movies, my favorites being A New Nightmare and Vampire in Brooklyn and Wes is a legend for sure.
I used to watch this movie so much as a kid. I need to watch it again as an adult to gain a different perspective. Thank you for doing this one. Still waiting on the Five Heartbeats and Temptations tho. 😂
This movie scared me when I was younger. I can’t even lie lmao
You should do flowers in the attic next would love to see you cover it ❣️
Oh btw, I FUCKIN LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! First time I caught this flick was on one of the Showtime channels back in '95.
Fun fact: Brandon Adams was the same kid who was dancing around like Michael in Moonwalker.
Branon Adams also appeared on A Different World, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Roc, Martin & Moesha. He was also in The Sandlot, The Mighty Ducks & D2 The Mighty Ducks. The reason he stepped away from the limelight was because he witnessed the death of his best friend Merlin Santana (Romeo from The Steve Harvey show).
@therealmarlonbellamy I just read up on that, too. That's mad unfortunate to be a part of in terms of living through that experience, and from what I understand, the person who orchestrated the whole shit was a deranged fan who was 15 yrs old at that time.
@@Thrashaholic1988 She lied about her age.
@@therealmarlonbellamy still crazy nonetheless
@@Thrashaholic1988 It’s beyond crazy.
I ain't atupid 😂😂😂 ran his ass quick as hell back up them stairs LMAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just realized the little boy is Brandon Adams aka Aaron from Moesha lmao
I watch this a couple times a year. A true classic. Wes ATE.
I love this movie! My grandma introduced me to it when I was 8, I’ve been watching it ever since
Omg!! I loved this movie as a kid! Even though it scared the ish out of me!! 😂
I watched this movie all the time when i was a kid. This was the first time i saw Brandon Adams & Ving Rhames. Speaking of Ving Rhames, next week’s review is Holiday Heart. Can we please get a review on another 90s forgotten horror movie? Def By Temptation?
Why Mama reminds me of Julia Roberts 😅😂😂 I can't unsee it😂
She does favor her... but she can also be Patrick Swayzes first cousin too 😂
@@forthenostalgia 😭😂😂😂 giving Too Wong Foo 😂😂
@@martinacold9255 Yesssss 🤣🤣🤣
yeah like her evil twin
When I was a kid, this movie scared me mainly because of that big ass rottweiler Prince. But I like how this movie touches on religious zealotry, racism, child abuse and gentrification.
Imagine Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us) remaking this classic. Now, I ain't such a huge fan of remakes and reboots since they mostly suck. But we shall see if Peele's remake is good or not.
I miss Wes Craven.
I love how much the cartoon movie "The Willoughby's" heavily refrences this movie.
Love that The Blackening referenced this movie
Fun fact: Mama and Daddy play married couple Nadine and Big Ed in the early 90s classic TV series Twin Peaks (David Lynch and Mark Frost).
I look forward to your movie reviews! I never notice some of this when I seen it in the 90s cause I was too young then. Now I’m an adult and I’m like wow.
My mom showed me this movie when I was kid. So underrated ❤
One of my all time favorites! Definitely underrated and way ahead of it’s time.
Actress that plays Ruby in this movie was also in a Freddy Krueger movie. I think it was number three.
My new favorite channel! You’ve gained a new subscriber! Could you do reviews for the following films:
-Scream 1/2/3
-I Know/I Still Know What You Did Last Summer
-The Faculty
-New Jack City
-The Devil Wears Prada
-Cruel Intentions
-Legally Blonde
-Why Do Fools Fall In Love
😊
Wes Craven outdid himself with this film! I do horror reviews and would love for you to be a guest on my podcast!!
Your reviews are 🔥🔥🔥 love it
That my favorite hood horror movie as a growing up, it kinda got me scared 😱 but these actors did a damn good job especially this young kid playing fool, he also did moonwalker, the sandlot, mighty ducks and moesha.
The movie is an allegory predicating the current state of housing inequality. The corporate landlord taking the money out of the community and the community suffering.
Out of everything I’ve seen him in, I’ve always referenced Brandon Adams from THIS movie.
(Good lawd, I’s gettin old 😭)
No you didn't do my favorite movie of the 90s
This one of my favorite films cuz this subliminally tackles gentrification, racism, narcissism, holding people captive, & odd behaviors. Which makes great horror. Not to mention my favorite act "Ving Rhames" made his character come to life. It's a odd little film but that's was interesting about this movie. I seen "Mama" during the extra content behind the movie. An interview with the characters & believe it or not the woman plays "Mama" was a real cool sweet lady. She in real life aren't racist, or a weirdo nor abusive like her character......
😃😂😃😂😃😂😃😂
This to me is a REAL horror film!
It's realistic plot with some twisted sick people doing corrupt things...yea it's disturbing
Can we get a “how stella” vid breakdown queen?👀
Love this movie! Do a rewatch every year.
I absolutely love your channel! My favorite pastime.
Thank you 😊
It’s the momma and daddy being sister and brothers will always be crazy 😢
I legit thought they were married 🫠
Me paying attention to the other cards around the fool card. Judgement, the adversary (thinking that you’re locked up, physically and by vices, but there is a way to be free). The 5 of pentacles and pentacle suit deals with money and coin
Baby girl you gotta do the hand that rocks the cradle movie omg
Omg!! Yasss!!🙌💯💯
@@_haitian_barbie_ I just watched it the other day and oppp! 🤭
I have watched this movie numerous times I never knew the daddy was a cannibal. SMH
You pick the best movies ❤❤
Ended up watching it on spotify, really enjoy their layout/design btw, but i had to come show love in the comments this made me rewatch and get creeped tf out all over again❤❤ Keep up the good work sis!!
I was hoping that you was going to cover Drew Barrymore in poison ivy like I really want to see what you was gonna say about that movie and also can you please cover any Tyler Perry movies? I would love that too.
Thank you for all that you do!
Love seeing these classics again!
The fact that they knew a liquor store would serve as a successful trap/bait for their source of fresh meat is so cringe. Basically, saying they could count on a certain demographic of people to keep robbing it... It makes me think about tactics being used in real life to create a supply chain of ignorant criminals.
Omg yesss!! So glad you chose this underrated classic 👏🏽👏🏽 love your content
I remember watching this in 2008 I was 8 at the time. I remember waking up and roach on that big tv I was scared
This was so awesome!! I'm going to cut some dragon fruit and watch your commentary. Big hug from Asia Sis 🌺🌺
Thank you 😊
Love this channel 💯💯
This is one of my favorite movies and this one is soooooo good on different levels
I was waiting for you to do this movie!!!!
I'll say this one is not a classic by any means but for a Halloween movie to check out around October it's enjoyable. The music is excellent it reminds me of a good PS1 game like Parasite Eve, the main black kid did well here and yes, some kid actors in the history of movie-making can sound awkward or bad but not the main kid and I felt like once we get to the end of the movie it felt like that big moment of the movie happened and it's over in a second, it could have been stretched out a little bit then just boom...End. Besides that, it's a good movie to watch around the Halloween season.
Yessssss I’m glad you were able to upload it💕! Your podcast made me 1. side-eye 😒NBC for trying hate 2. Rewatch this classic💯. Excellent, Relatable, and Well Delivered Commentary @For the Nostalgia ✨Subscribed and I enjoy your content and reviews ❤️🔥💕💯
I’m so happy you doing this movie I was so obsessed with this movie
Amazing Review of one of my all time favorite movies as a kid
Love your review on this and one favorite horror movie 😁💜
❤❤❤❤ this movie had me scared as a kid but as an adult it hypocritically pissed off

Girllllll this is probably my fav movie of all time!!! I didn’t understand any of the undertones.
Can you believe this came out before I was even born and I still found a way to find this and watch it plenty of times? This damn movie..
I adore this movie 🎬 definitely a classic from my childhood ❤️ Please do a review on the movie Life ft Eddie Murphy & Martin Lawrence ❤️
Oh wow…. Glad to see your video is finally available on TH-cam lol.
I'm just as shocked as you are 😂
This movie is a sick, twisted darkly humorous social thriller that stands the test of time.
You gotta do he got game next ! 🫶🏽
My favorite movie growing up and still to this day
Movie scared me when I was little
Please keep commenting on films, I just watched this film tonight, and I couldn't find the right commentary on it afterwards until I found you.
