I don't think Reese gets enough chances to play weird/neurotic character actor roles. She absolutely nailed this one.
You should see her in Little Fires Everywhere! She's scary AF in dat. Also in Freeway
Little Fires was so good!!
@@giancarlojacobs9982 I loved that book so when they announced Reese Witherspoon as Elena Richardson, I already knew it was going to be a hit
@@giancarlojacobs9982I have to see that one now
@@giancarlojacobs9982 "MY NAME IS VANESSA! JULIA! LUTZ! SAY IT!!!"
I love "Freeway".
1.) Paul may be simple, but by god he wasn’t a bad kid. He was dense as f**k but he had just enough of a moral compass in which it’s hard to hate him, he wasn’t a hate-able person
2.) Tracy was actually a victim. She might’ve been out of pocket on several occasions but, she was groomed, her teacher was genuinely out to get her and in hindsight she was so focused on her goals, she never got the chance to enjoy her high school life and in retrospect her college years.
3.) Jim was kinda an asshole, and he started off so damn good… but he cheated on his wife, kept secret an affair with his friend/student, he made Tracy seemed like this bad person but she was just a hard working student, a bit much but the hate was never warranted.
Paul is an original himbo!
I thought that Jim turned in Dave for Dave's molestation of Tracy. Jim was in the conference where Dave broke down.
@@AutumnBlessed - Tammy's mother found out about it and told the principal. Jim was just there as a passive witness when the principal confronted Dave. Come to think of it; that was arguably the worst thing Jim did - he knew about the molestation going on, and he did nothing to stop it. He urged Dave to stop, but he didn't demand he stop, and he didn't report him.
@@christopherwebb3517 thanks for the explanation.
@@AutumnBlessed - I meant to say Tracy, not Tammy.
I like to think that Tracy Flick had a breakdown and later became Elle Woods
I was thinking about this movie just before this video came out. Tracy was the victim. Groomed by one teacher, and almost derailed by another. She’s punished because she wants to be successful.
It's disturbing that the situation with Dave and Tracey is not uncommon irl, with adult men and women grooming these kids. A lot of girls I went to high school with have talked about messing with 18+ year old men while they were freshmen and sophomores and not seeing that they were victims. Crazy stuff.
Loved this review and I'll for sure check this movie out!
Yes!! This was common in my high school - teachers with students, especially the young teachers and young girls messing with men in their 20's. They were picking them up from school and everything. It was wild!!
The thing is Tracey was a victim & Jim was a POS. He had a moral compass when it came to Dave grooming Tracey but threw that out the window AS SOOOON as he had an opportunity to make a move on his wife. Tracey needed counseling NOT to be humble. That grown ass man created beef with a teenager because of his OWN contradictory convictions.
And then proceeded to hold that grudge for yearsssss after she probably forgot he even existed whew
He was disgusting and immature. "BuT wErE iN LoVe" ugh, JAIL
I think about the end with the limo more often than I should. “Who tf did she think she was?” 😂😂😂 love this movie.
He was in his feelings STILL 😂😂😂
That scene is wild!!!😂🤣😂 I always randomly, remember reference that scene😅
I loved how he said it too 😂
He went from talking nice and PC to progressively mean and hateful in the blink of an eye reflecting how he really felt. Reality hit when he had to bounce up outta there before he caught those Fed charges. 😂🤣😂
This is such a hidden gem. Not enough people talk about it.
As an overachiever, even I think that Tracy went too far. However, she didn't deserve what happened to her.
NGL, I went to school with PLENTY of Tracys, except they were a thousand times meaner. And people wonder why I was happy when graduation came😅😭
She really giving dope reviews on movies that I would never watch 😂
What Tammy did to get outta there was ingenious! She had to have known that her parents would send her to that kind of school if she got out of line. Thank god! It would’ve be torture for her to go through high school with the same straight girl who broke her heart & sleeping with her brother. Awesome plan👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Dave and Jim were both scum. Straight trash. I hate that Dave didn’t go to prison for glooming and I don’t like how Jim blamed Tracy for everything when he just had a personal vendetta against her.
She hit him below the belt 😂😂😂
Way below the belt 😂😂😂
This is probably my favorite Matthew Broderick movie ever! Behind Ferris Bueller, of course!
Glory
@@MetalsirenIXIGodzilla 1998. But to be honest I don’t think they have him a lot to do in that movie.
Ladyhawke! (Although Broderick was miscast as Philippe Gaston. He's waaaaaay to clean-cut to play a medieval thief imo)
all I hear is Simba whenever Mathew Broderick talks lol
No one ever talks about this movie and I don’t know why😂 I went through a Reese Witherspoon phase when I was in middle school and soo many things in this movie went over my head lol Watching it as an adult I was like why tf was I watching this in MIDDLE SCHOOL lol
Chris Klein was playing the clueless himbo, like he did in American Pie.
Also, I think you understood how messy this damn high school was 😂 all cause Dave was on that pedo vibe and Jim was a hater of a child. Could Jim not get something to cover up his eye? Like buddy could've done the Kakashi and had something over it.
This movie and the Heathers movie are always slept on
I love irreverent borderline comedies like Election, Snatch, Fargo, Burn After Reading etc
I’m definitely diggin your selections, reviews and work ethic👍🏾👍🏾
This movie was WILD!
I LOVE this movie.
I had teachers like Mr. M back in high school. They didn't like me because i wasn't popular, but they still gave me credit where it was due. I was an overachiever who spent after school with a history teacher studying for the AP exam. I had no idea, but he was wildly inappropriate with me and venting about being unhappy with his wife and not liking his sex life with his wife. He was outraged when i missed a session because of a club meeting. He ran to a popular teacher like Mr M who scolded me in front of the jocks and told me that teacher thought i was obnoxious and hated me. Turns out, he was telling me the truth. The popular clique knew the teachers were making fun of me behind my back and feuling the bullying i was already receiving.
I've seen Matthew Broderick in The Cable Guy and Inspector Gadget (yes, I know I was a kid when I watched it) and I don't understand why he gets some of the hate from people with his acting. He is a good actor in my book.
I forgot he was in The Cable Guy. I gotta add that to the list
@@forthenostalgia The Cable Guy is an interesting movie because of how it gets some hate from critics and I believe that The Simpsons made a joke about it. I remember seeing that movie as a kid because I was into Jim Carrey movies and I thought it was good so I don't understand why it gets this hate.
And a great voice actor; Simba and Joseph Sugarman
@@christinethuo6840 Oh, that's right he did the voice of adult Simba in The Lion King (original) thanks for reminding me. 😁
the intro caught me off guard 😂. I've never seen the movie but I stay watching your reviews ❤
The way that Paul, Tammy and Jim's wife are the only people in this movie you can truly give a damn about?! LMAO!!
Jim and his lil pedo friend deserve all the worst and Jim definitely was projecting a LOT onto Tracy for no real reason. I also hope Tracey learned to have balance and find her to be a tragic heroine with a hopeful ending.
Wonderful film. Not just another high school comedy but a scathing critique of modern politics where the election process has nothing to do with improving anyone's lives but becomes a staging ground for egos, petty score settling and careerist vampires. The ending is absolutely chilling.
I always looked at this movie as the back story on Elle Woods from Legally Blonde given Tracey's passion for leadership and law 😂😂
From the last review regarding the Caribbean Vampire, i checked the a list of MTV Indie films in 1999, and boy am i in for a wild surprise. 😅
Reece Witherspoon is low key a hottie. Loved her in 1 of my top 5 movies ever….Cruel Intentions
Why did he violate Tracy like that 😂😂😂😂
I’ve never heard of this movie so a lot of ppl didn’t get the hint right, lol. It’s definitely a lot to unpack. This was definitely age ain’t nothing but a number, same girl, backstabbers rolled into one movie (see what I did there 😉). I truly feel for Tracy for mainly just peaking only in high school and not making any friends nor developing street smarts and discernment. It was interesting yet sad at the same time to make an attempt to tell your co-worker that they’re wrong for carrying on an affair with a child but then be the epitome of said co-worker (the hypocrisy). Once I learned Tracy’s story, I understood her better although she was a bit much. I also sense that although she’s an only child, she didn’t get much attention from her mother. She also was searching for adoration and approval. And as far as the other girl who denied feelings for Paul’s sister, she probably came into her identity years later. I feel as though she was delulu about her orientation. Good analysis!
I know you did Home Alone already but can you do Home Alone 2: Lost in New York this year??
Yo that principle is wild as hell 💀💀💀💀
The Principal, Janitor and the kid mad about the votes were all funny AF!!😂🤣😂
@@PFCMelvinPeterson hell yeah 🤣🤣🤣
**clears throat**
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS MOVIE???
The sexism, the statutory, the homophobia, the inappropriateness, and shear mess of it all! I don't know whether to be disgusted, outraged, or simply not shocked since this is truly a product of its time. Great review of an absolutely terrible movie! 😂
Love this movie! Please do Jawbreaker!!
I be looking forward to the reviews every Sunday! Then bring that time changed we got this gem an hour early! 💕
So I watched like half of this movie on tv before I fell asleep and I was never able to watch it again 😂😂😂 but I’m down for a review as always ❤
Same 😂 it was on Hulu for a while
I always thought it was the History teachers that slept with their students. Mine actually married a former student.
No waaaaay 😳
As simple as he was, Paul was a stand-out character.
Despite being popular and privileged, he was AT LEAST genuine and kind-hearted. There was no BS.
Unlike everyone else in the film.
I love Reese, Cruel Intentions is another good one.
"That would be a no." 😂
This movie was so crazy and fun. I LOVE IT🤣😁
I had to watch this movie for class and I had no idea what to expect 😂
I literally wait for your videos every week! Love the explanations, and commentary
This movie came on around Christmas time and I had totally forgotten about it. I watched with so much nostalgia bc this movie was wild! Not the hoe bath! (Help me…HELP ME!) 😂Thanks for covering this, subscribed.
Watching the latest upload on this channel is now my favorite Sunday pastime😊
Never heard of this movie but now I’m mad I didn’t till now because I love movies that are chaotic like this😂😂😂and movies back then were WILD😂😂
Another job well done I forgot all about this movie but this review is great thank you ❤
This was one of those movies I used to sneak and watch. Paul was so funny to me
I'm so glad you're reviewing this movie. You gotta review The Man in the Moon next
Crazy how i remember this movie from the scene where he's sleeping with his wife but is thinking about the student🤣
& 15:10 is jokes🤣🤣
Do "Freeway" next. Reese Witherspoon's other best movie.

I love that you did this movie!!!❤❤
I always thought it was crazy as a child. Now, with these eyes. I KNOW IT WAS!!.
I feel like nobody talks about this movie ❤️ really underrated and would you ever review “American Beauty 1999 “ I watched it last night and chile it was a mess LMAOO 😭😭😭
Yes!! I'm adding that to the list as well. That movie was wild as well.
@@forthenostalgia yess thank you 😭😭
Great analysis! Since you are traveling down the Reese Witherspoon rabbit hole, I recommend Freeway with her and Kiefer Sutherland! Sidenote, do you have a specific area where followers can recommend films for you??
Thank you 😊 You can leave recommendations in the comments. Ill add them to my list.
Never watched it but enjoy yur commentary immensely
I love hearing you get in to these movies
Wonderful!
Please do new jack city if u haven’t already.
Loving these- thanks :)
Bro I forgot but could stop thinking bout this joint 🖤✊🏾🔥
A dark, comic masterpiece; neglected and underappreciated.
Don't know if you know this but the actress who played tammy sadly passed away a few years ago
Jessica Campbell(December, 29th, 2020).
Funny how you mentioned Inspector Gadget in the middle of this review. Broderick played the titular character in the live action movie.
I loveeeeeeeee this movie ❤,I can't wait to hear your take....
Reese really should've won her Oscar for this role. She acted from her eyeballs out
I watched this movie a lot when it aired on Comedy Central
Yesss love this movie I mix it up with pleasantville all the time
I never heard of this. Totally new to me! I like Reese too, so I might just have to check this out.
I wonder have you ever seen But I’m a Cheerleader? You should do that! Or American Beauty.
Great taste! I love this movie!
So, Mr. M. was having these thoughts about these two girls while doing the...You know...The thing. 😆
This is one of my all time favorite films. Reese was incredible wish she woulda did more roles like this
Epic movie review recap video
That "Simple AF" pop up GAGGED me😭😭😭
I love this background music.
My BD showed me this movie for the 1st time & told me I remind him of Tracy Flick. I don't see it, lol.
side note the principal was also in girlfriends
He was!!
nice review enjoy the sequel
lol great movie review you should do Crooklyn next
Could you please recap GIRL, Interrupted? Which stars Brittany Murphy and Angelina Jolie.
I've never seen that one but I heard its good. Ill add that to the list.
The genius about this movie is that it's told almost completely by the villain's point of view - and it kind of makes you sympathize with the villain.
I love your videos ❤
Thank you 😊
I was waiting to hear u blast that H-Town track 😂😂😂
Reese Witherspoon killed this role. Can you please review The Crush with Alicia Silverstone.
You should do Leaving Las Vegas. I would love to see your take on the nostalgia of distorted love n mental health
I'll say it now: This was "Bottoms" before "Bottoms".
Not an early upload 🤭.
I remember seeing bits and pieces from this movie, but I never watched it. Reese Witherspoon ate though.
I enjoy your videos because you don’t assume that because it went over your head or you didn’t noticed that no one else did
I forgot about this movie! I thought you were about to review “Jawbreaker(1999)”.
So much Pepsi 😂
Omg. This is literally like one of my Fav Reese Witherspoon movies 🍿 😅
yeah, I don't buy the 'tracy is a saint' idea. She clearly was coming onto Mr. McCallister (her 'harmonious and productive' speech) and didn't mind all that much about Dave and their scummy 'relationship'... face it, pretty much all the main characters in this film were highly selfish, unprincipled, and corrupt in a small town way. The only ones that weren't (Tracy and Paul) were the ones that really didn't care about the election.
Given that this movie satirizes politics, I think this is pretty much a straightforward thing to say.
The fact that paul actually got some noticable votes during the election while being pretty much an airhead goes on to show a lot about where WE fked up as the PEOPLE in that democracy for the people by the people and all that shit. Like this movie is extremely beautiful and highly recommend anyone to watch it because it really does a great job at portraying how the once sophisticated and democratic process of election where people used to vote for the best person for the job and questioning ones administration policies has now become a process of voting for the popular kid and the cult follwoing trend. Which has now indeed become a huge part of the election nowadays, nowadays people dont look at the polocies they just care about who got shot, who held a fist bump up in the air whose funnier, its all about the popular kid now. This movie was a warning sign for the future of election process.

Ohhhhhh...Yeah. 😊

Cruel intentions?
Reese is great in this and Freeway!! That’s a great film too!!!😂😂😂
