I don't remember the costumes of The Facts of Life. But I do recall that it gave Lucy and Bob great roles to act in. Edith must have been in the bar! Look at the great Elizabeth Allen! And Irene had a nod--just before she swan dived off the roof of the Knickerbocker Hotel. Love Barbara's pillbox hat! And love these clips-- are full ceremonies to come??

"The Facts of Life" is a routine comedy with absolutely routine costume design; it didn't deserve to win anything at all!!!
    But "Spartacus" deserved its Oscar!!!

Hmmm. I know where Edith might have been: busy designing INCREDIBLE costumes without capes. You know how that turns out.

I think Myrna only presented once around 1970. BTW, where is Barbara Steele in this clip??

I guess they couldn't get access to one of Marik Vos' items from The Virgin Spring.

I totally agree. I had to consult my edition of "Inside Oscar" by Mason Wiley and Damien Bona (A very long blog called a book in my day) to find out the fifth nominee. Now this Marik Vos had to recreate medieval Sweden for his inspiration for "The Virgin Spring", that film that went on to win Best Foreign Film.It seems to me that all "The Facts of Life" customers had to go by was to look outside their window for inspiration. Voss was robbed!

Agreed oh and Marik Vos was a lady. She had a long career at Dramaten in Stockholm, Sweden designing sets and costumes for countless plays. She only made a handful of films and TV shows but she did win an Oscar for Fanny and Alexander.
