This is incredible, watched your interview with Joe Goodner last night. Started looking into survey piloting. Stumbled across Sol. Now I’m watching an interview with the president of that company. I’m 31 and about to start my airline journey and this is perfect because I have been a land surveyor for the past 6 years. Trent, your channel has hands down been the most resourceful tool I have found for making this change really seem possible. Ashamed to admit I’ve been watching these videos for months trying to build the nerve to make the big leap. Forever grateful for your knowledge!!!
Ryan, welcome to my channel, I thank you so much for the kind words about my work. I’m very excited to hear that you now have a plan and are taking action!
That was a great, and informative interview. I worked IT in Afghanistan on an ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) program a couple years ago. It seems like our pilots flew similar profiles and patterns to survey missions. Now, I just have to get to 1500 hours...
Hi Trent! Love these interviews super helpful. One thing I find helpful also, when referencing a type of aircraft I like then you put a picture of it on the screen! Super helpful.
Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. It all helps my channel to grow and help more guys/gals like us!! BTW, I’ve got a free email course on how to become a professional pilot as fast as possible. The course covers things like how to study to the written exams, how to pick a school, how much to expect to spend, how to get financing, etc….If you’d like to gain access, just go to FlyWithTrent.com and become an email subscriber.
Trent, these interviews are very helpful and love seeing them. I'm going to start my career 2.0 starting in Jan. 2024. I'd be curious if there are pilots out there that partnered with the Civil Air Patrol after their PPL to build time and to get further ratings? I wonder if you could reachout to the Civil Air Patrol to see if they have someone that would meet with you to share opportunities for us to build time and help their mission. Thanks!
Thanks, Trent! This was a great interview. I have also been considering going into survey flying once I get all my ducks lined up. That was a cool story about being on short final as your friend departed next to you, lol.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching one of my videos! I really appreciate you taking a moment to comment! I read every comment personally 🙌
haha, called it! Great interview. I’ve been looking into the business side of aviation for a while now. Asked Reddit, Facebook Groups, done some google search, looked for courses but there is pretty much nothing on the subject out there. This video gives cool little insights on how that works. Definitely will fly survey before going 121 sooner or later. Until next time Trent. 👍
Could you make a video about all the different licenses and which jobs you can do with each one, in case someone isn't interested necessarily in the majors. Thanks
You must have at least a commercial license to be able to make any money as a pilot. If you could get the CFI rating, you could be an instructor. If you do not get the CFI rating, you can still become a pipeline pilot, a survey pilot, a skydive pilot, or you can fly for a wealthy individual if they want to put you in in their cockpit.
We're sorry to hear no one ever got back to you. We are very busy and receive a lot of resumes. We make a point to get back to everyone but sometimes they fall through the cracks. Once we reopen our hiring next year we encourage you to re-apply!
✈️🛫🇺🇸☝🏼 TRENT! Thank you for yet another inspirational motivational 2.0 career pilots video 📷 literally nothing gives me more realistic confirmation and positive energy to continue in the path to the legacy final destination! Be well 💫⭐☝🏼 and thank you!!!

I’m in the Civil Air Patrol….and yes, there are plenty of opportunities to fly. You can’t expect them to pay for any of your ratings, however.
Awesome interview Trent🫡
Thx!

Way to much possible info for one video.

Great interview!
Thx!
Very nice interview. I send them my resume, but no one ever responded. They must be very busy.

They are. You need to be politely persistent though!
With single engine land CPL alone, is it possible to get a survey pilot job?? Thank you.
Yes there are some survey outfits that fly 172s and 206s
Yes it is. Optic Air, Jav Imagery, Skylens require as low as 250 hours. Hiring season is in summer.
Yes!

Hey Phil,
My goal is to maximise earnings per hour,
Did you work less or more as a contract pilot? (Whilst earning the same money of course)
