Afran, my dad got poked by one of those sculpins and he had to go to the ER the pain was so bad. Nice shot of morphine and the pain was gone. Granted they had him on morphine for 2-3 hours. But it's definitely more than a little sting.
I bought some underspins and had an idea... I also bought some replacement skirts(baitfish) and I put a skirt on the underspin and trimmed a bit around the underspin so it doesn't interfere with the blade also trimmed the skirt to about the hook. add your favorite swimbait and BAM!! My best so far doing this is a 6 pounder and a local lake
Hey Afran! Loved this video and all the info you give to me and all your subscribers. I was wondering if you’d think about doing a video on how you use your electronics in one of our bays and the fish it produces since nobody seems to have one for San Diego. Regardless, love the content and I’ll definitely continue gaining the knowledge from you! Thanks!
Theres something about chartreuse and yellows that gets sculpins going. 🤔.... was throwing a yellow scampi, sculpins wouldn’t stay off it until i threw a red scampi. Didn’t make much of it until i saw this video lol.. interesting.
The sound of disappointment on your voice after the lost fish! we Have all been there, I remember my dad gaffing the line on a solid wahoo in Mex one time.... I still haven't forgiven him
Man the lights on your yak are impressive. Just had a night session tonight by the ferry landing. Nothing but spotties and sculpins on that end of the bay too. Been using a 1oz yellow bucktail tipped with squid or a burkley mullet / shrimp. Trying to catch a legal butt.
Keep at it! I bought a Litra Light and mounted it to a painter pole. It's bright enough, I need to change the angle of the light/camera. Check the link in the description to see the light. Thanks!
Hay man love what you do here, I learn from each and every vid you post! But quick question, what kind of scent were you using there? I've never really used scent before and I'm dying to try it!
Thanks for the question. I was using a brand called Hot Sauce. Here is the link for Hot Sauce: www.tacklewarehouse.com/Edge_Hot_Sauce_Fish_Attractant/descpage-EHSFA.html?gclid=CjwKCAiA_c7UBRAjEiwApCZi8cKZ3thr3j85OTn31sXvx-c_yyRmvfWCkOzLgBhM5o6P4dCOXFEW5RoCwIkQAvD_BwE Also, Pro Cure makes a great product that I use as well: amzn.to/2ETMR9f I apply the scent every few casts. It helps with smell, lubrication and taste... for the fish! Thanks again!
I've been stucked by a sculpin before on the finger all it did was make the wound itchy for about an hour. I have heard that some people could have a allergic reaction if so then seek medical help.
Would you be able to point out some good areas to fish from the surf, shore, or jetty? I'm not familiar with San Diego but wanted to take a small fishing trip with my son. Any information would be helpful. Thanks
San Diego Bay has great rock shore line to fish from. Pick a spot, use the Warbaits 3/8oz with a small swimbait, use a crank bait or a metal spoon. Fan cast. Good luck!
Carlos Gonzalez in San Diego Bay there is harbor island and shelter island(both are connected by road). Harbor is better for fishing off the shore rocks. It has a walkway and a couple of parks if your with family that doesn't want to fish. Shelter island has a good fishing pier with a great food and beer shackle on it. But not as good shore fishing. Mission Bay has a few good spots from shore, but the fishing is harder and it gets crazy busy with boat traffic. The surf fishing can be great but only at night or first light due to every beach being covered with people in the day light.
