- When you sit opposite someone with the presence of Billy Corgan, you are reminded how important @smashingpumpkins was to the sound of a generation.
Billy has taken risks over the years, he doesn't doubt it - but he knows this 3-part album Atum, is making an impact with the fans. The riffs are all new - don't believe the hype from fan pages and music publications.
You'll find out some cool twists to this album, and how it almost leaked early.
From 46 songs they were working on mid-Covid, to now - 33 tracks, 3 acts written and produced by Corgan over 4 years.

Amazing, listen to your eyes close and realize this is the same man who wrote gish, siamese, mcis, and is still trucking. We are lucky to have you, William and thank you for standing up for your family and for your music 🙏
ATUM is a masterpiece.
Love Billy Corgan ❤ 🇬🇧
Some of the things Billy said helped me a lot today👍
Excellent conversation, really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a fantastic interview. As someone who didn't enjoy Atum and was critical of it I massively respect Billy for writing and recording what he wants. It has landed with a lot fans and the footage from their latest tour looks so good. I probably fall into the bracket of fan that he doesn't like in that the OG Pumpkins Gish - Machina 2 run means everything to me but I've not connected as well with the work since Oceania & Teargarden which I thought were good. I don't subscribe to the idea that you're not a real fan if you don't love it all. He's such an articulate man and it's his faults as well as his talents that come through in all the music. I identify with all of it. He's one of my heroes and he seems genuinely happy here and that's great.
I just saw them in Clarkston, Mi last week and they were fantastic. Billy’s vocals sounded amazing. He can still hit the high notes for extended periods and is an amazing guitarist.
I never would have imagined that I would be doing Magic for one of my music idols and his family. . Thank you, Billy for having me. Btw Atum is epic.
This is great Becko! Such an interesting intimate chat with a rock legend 👏
Fantastic interview. Keep it up.
Excellent interview! Billy rules
Ready for Aug 10 in San Diego, CA !!!!
I've always considered BC a very interesting & skillful person, obviously very cultured, and well spoken. Definitely a guy I've would have like to hang out with or have as a friend. I think over time he has become wiser and humbler, more of a family man. When they got the band together again, with James Iha, that was great news. Sad that the bassist didn't want to be a part of that. Hopefully a lot of music and transcendent tunes left in his creative genius. I also like how his creativity extends into other things like his café & NWA.
Fantastic interview, really enjoyed being a fly on the wall for that chat---thanks for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it!
From Zero to Weirdo

Product? And that’s why the SP suck now. Just call it a corporate event and get it over and done with.
Corgan talking about "hipsters" like that's still a relevant term or subculture.
Or, as a way to describe how audiences work. His analysis holds regardless of the specific word.
He'd get in trouble if he said Soiboi.
been a fan of SP since 93 and have loved everything they have done and what BC has done solo...but I'm being completely honest here...Atum is terrible in all aspects...
The first 2 Pumpkins albums are untouchable - haven’t been able to get into any of the last few albums though.
