ICJ Ruling on Israel | Reactions as World Court judges order Israel to stop raiding Rafah

- The International Court of Justice has ordered Israel to halt its offensive in Rafah, Gaza. In its latest application to the Hague-based Court, South Africa petitioned the World Court to order additional provisional measures including a withdrawal of Israeli military from Rafah. ICJ President Judge Nawaf Salam made the ruling. SABC Correspondent Alex Cadier joins us live from The Hague as we get more reaction following that order by the International Court of Justice.

Did the angelic friends of South Africa called Hamas release all hostages in accordance with the previous provisional measures by ICJ? What did South Africa do to follow the judgement. Is it fair to pressure Israel to conform to the new provisional measure while the previous has not been complied with by the other party?
What Israel is doing in Gaza and Rafah is nothing short of criminality. Even if the Court has "no enforcement" provision, it is clear to the entire world, particularly to the enablers of genocide (USA, UK) , that these rulings are extremely serious. The countries that represent the rules-based order (USA,UK) are not above the law and cannot wriggle out of major international court rulings. Israel, as an occupying power, has no automatic right to "defend itself" - as the aggressor on Palestinian land. If Israel's Rafah operation was valid, either to eliminate Hamas or rescue the hostages, then the Court would not have ruled for its immediate cessation.
One rarely sees such a tightly knit dissertation as this in YT comments - and just as rarely one that is so full of gaping holes.

Israel's current military actions are now widely accepted as a genocide especially after the ICJ accepted the argument offered by South Africa. You may like to reject these legal definitions but they are accepted by the highest international court and most of mankind.

They may have some bearing on a given legal argument, premise of an argument, or support of an argument. The law is malleable and ductile - as are terms and definitions. There are judgments - and there are appeals from judgments. There are concepts such as mitigation and totality of the circumstances. It is usually wiser to consider the merits of BOTH sides of a legal question before rushing to judgment.
