- In this video we manage to squeeze our way into a long forgotten Furness Iron Mine which hasnt been worked since the late 1800s. In one level we discover an old shovel and pickaxe, lent against a wall by some miners a couple of hundred years ago. And we work our way down a 190m long drainage level, picking our way carefully through some sections of dodgy collapses.
The video has been edited to try to avoid repeated footage and to show the layout of the mine in the clearest way. Thanks for watching! Please Like and Subscribe to stay updated on our new videos ⛏️
Good work fellas. I think it is fitting that the video is elusively titled. Yes, a lot of new ground to me here in some of those rising stopes and surface trending ginnelways.
Where you were up to rock head (with the roots dangling down) and if you knew your approximate bearings and distance, you could probably prove exact surface location with PMR walkie talkies or similar through the X metres of soil.
I've seen the phenomenon of what is like calcite 'crust' on water before in this and other locales.i
Marvellous stuff young Sirs.
Kind regards.
We plan to return here soon with Compass and laser measure, in order to map out our location undergound and try to establish where we are headed! Thanks for the reply and im glad you enjoyed the video!
