Because I seriously doubt that they have head-mounted devices that intercepts all neural transmissions into their bodies and then relays them to a robotic device that they can control in a fashion similar to SAO and The Matrix. If, however, you mean head-mounted devices that reads brain activity and then translates that into commands that can be sent to a robot, then that's different. That's controlling it with your mind.
In my opinion, one of the most important parts of a TV series is the intro, espesially animes, and SAO's intro is one of the best out there! Love this song!!!!

Okay, time to share my probably unpopular opinion that SAO Haters will kill me for. Sword Art Online, is amazing. This is all matter of opinion. But in my eyes, there is no Anime that I have seen that matches this anime. (I've seen even anime like no game no life, Fairy Tail, and even Spice and Wolf, and even though I loved those, SAO still tops) Here's why. Sword Art Online: it captures you. It makes you feel emotions I didn't know I was capable of comprehending. At the first episode, I felt such fear and grief, almost as if I was stuck in the game as well. It reels you in, it makes you laugh and cry and feel such joy when something extravagant takes place. The timeskips don't particularly bother me too much, there wasn't a part of the story I was missing while watching. I didn't feel like I missed out on anything. It felt as though someone was talking to me, telling me the story. Only focusing on the important parts of the storyline. The characters are so well rounded, and even though it's not upfront, you can figure out the characters stories in how they act, and even draw your own conclusion by observing. Like Yui, for example. The story lingers on her for two episodes (first arc) and I feel as though I have known her my whole life. She was a lonely girl, only able to watch the death with her own eyes and not being able to help in any way or form possible. Lizbeth (Rika) on the other hand. I had to draw my own conclusion with her. In just a few short hours, she "fell in love" with Kirito. That leads me to believe she's never been in a relationship, for she wouldn't let herself fall that easy. Asuna, was a tough one. She made me kind of have that vibe that she had depression before joining SAO. Because even though I am obsessed with games and I'm female, there would have to be another reason. What the NerveGear does, it brings you to another world, making you forget about everything going on in your life. And so Asuna even admits to saying this is her first MMO. So it leads me to believe she was trying to escape her problems IRL. Klein, was most likely unemployed. He lives alone, and doesn't talk about a relationship with someone. Now Kirito. Hoo, he was a tough nut to crack for me. He was probably going through a type of depression as well. Maybe not as strong as Asuna's, but still there. After his parents died (because he lives with his aunt, so I kind of figured what happened to them) he slinked into a well of not wanting to do anything. And that's when most people would turn to games for comfort. You can be anything in games, you can do anything you want. Thank you all for listening to my theories and or ramblings. I feel that it would of been better suited to being a long manga series instead of a light novel because there was so much potential in SAO that wasn't tapped into! The SAO arc could of easily lasted for about 3 seasons and not felt stretched out. I also think a lot of interesting story arcs could of happened if the arc continued instead of ending (I think Kirito should of died for real and Klein should of revived him with that revival item). I could see the Knights of the Blood Oath falling apart and Kirito going back to being a lone wolf (since Asuna would now be dead, likely until the final episode when Kayaba would revive her like he did after Kirito beat him), maybe even quitting the game before someone like Klein makes him come back to help beat it both happening and being interesting storylines. I felt that the beginning of the anime was perfect but then it suddenly ended abruptly and we were then thrown into Alfheim Online (Fairy Dance), an arc I absolutely hate! While it is fine on it's own I found that the ALO arc took away everything that made SAO special and ruined Asuna by turning her from a strong willed, tough female to another damsel in distress. And don't even get me started on the attempted rape scene! Sorry for my rant there. SAO II is a lot better than the second half of season 1 though (or at least the Gun Gale Online (Phantom Bullet) arc is - I'm yet to watch the whole season) so I like the series again. While I agree with what you said about feeling strong emotions, I found that Fullmetal Alchemist (specifically Brotherhood), One Piece, Naruto and a few other anime have made me feel stronger emotions. To date, One Piece and Naruto are the only anime to make me cry (and one of the times I cried at One Piece was when a boat died. *A frikin' boat!*). Also, I don't think Asuna had depression. I'm pretty sure she stated in one episode that she was playing SAO because her brother bought the game but had to go on a business trip or something like that so he let Asuna play with it while he was away. Besides that, I think your analysis of the characters are pretty good! Of course, all that I have said is only my opinion and I still respect yours. I'm not gonna lie. Every time I listen to you play this it makes me wanna cry. SAO is my favorite anime of all time. Its what got me into watching anime in the first place. IDC what all the haters say no other anime can compete with SAO. It gives u time to get attached to the characters and when they die, a piece of u dies along with them. Anyway keep up the good work:)
the anime that got me into anime was attack on titan, i loved it of course but then my friend said he found a show called sword art online he came over and we bingewatched two seasons so sao has a special place in my heart i can mever hate it. It is two good.
I looked at this...and I thought "there's no way I can play this!" I showed my piano teacher, and she said "you know what...I think you can play it." One month later, here I am. I can play this with ease and even though my finger is sore from all of the practice I'm proud of the fact I proved my past self wrong. Keep up with the good work! :D

I remember this used to seem so hard but then I got pianos lessons (I'm still doing it) and now this song is not even intermediate. Hi everyone! Me and a group of people (about 15 of us) are currently working on creating Sword Art Online. You may have to wait for about 5-10 years before we complete it. We are recreating NerveGear and SAO. Of course, there are some differences, like the fact that in our SAO you don't die in real life. Also, our version will also include abillitys and weapons from ALO and GGO. After the game is cleared, players will go to a separate server where you can just live life in SAO, where you can fight every boss as many times as you want (not the one on floor 100, that will be of limits to players on that server). Meanwhile, the server that has been cleared will reset, and new players can play. You can also replay the game, but your stats will be reset.As one of the lead director of this project, I can assure everyone that this project will be completed successfully. We haven't decided on the art style (if it should be as realistic as possible, or anime styled), but we think we will probably go with an anime look. Anyway, thanks for reading! OMG It´s so f*cking pretty the piano version :´) I finnish this anime in one night. I loved the part of SAO, the impossible love with Asuna, the times Kirito it´s so close to death... I like the part of ALO but less. I want one anime like this... The oher series I´ve watch aren´t like this... I probalbly have watch this serie 7-8 times in only a few months... I know this full song in japanese... BEST ANIME EVER! I don´t know if it´s my age (14) and I´m in an impossible love like Kirito (But in the end I don´t have the girl xD) or what but I feel so identified with Kirito... I'd suggest not watching Gun Gale Online, they have changed so much. Asuna isn't in it and Kirito isn't Kirito anymore, frankly I think they've seriously gone down hill.
Red Venom I´m watching it and I think so that is worse tha the first one, but I also liked it. It´s a good anime, and every anime I watch I got in love with it.
Okay, Something that really bothered me about SAO is that is rated PG, which is crazy, it had rape, sex, violence, etc. Where's an Anime like AOT is rated MA, Where it only had violence. I have no complaints about the story, apart from the Fairydance arch, which almost destroyed the series.

I love this so much! It's my 4th favorite anime, my third being Naruto (my first), my second being Blue Exorcist, and my first Fairy Tail. I don't know why I'm telling all of you this, but oh well.

For a while I had trouble with both hands at full speed, but for those of you guys still working hard at it, finger speed and precision do improve over time. the anime that got me into anime was attack on titan, i loved it of course but then my friend said he found a show called sword art online he came over and we bingewatched two seasons so sao has a special place in my heart i can mever hate it. It is two good.

I remember this used to seem so hard but then I got pianos lessons (I'm still doing it) and now this song is not even intermediate. It has a very simple time signature (unlike fantaise Impromptu) and straight forward arpeggios of the left hand. get a teacher and this will be easy

Hi everyone! Me and a group of people (about 15 of us) are currently working on creating Sword Art Online. You may have to wait for about 5-10 years before we complete it. We are recreating NerveGear and SAO. Of course, there are some differences, like the fact that in our SAO you don't die in real life. Also, our version will also include abillitys and weapons from ALO and GGO. After the game is cleared, players will go to a separate server where you can just live life in SAO, where you can fight every boss as many times as you want (not the one on floor 100, that will be of limits to players on that server). Meanwhile, the server that has been cleared will reset, and new players can play. You can also replay the game, but your stats will be reset.As one of the lead director of this project, I can assure everyone that this project will be completed successfully. We haven't decided on the art style (if it should be as realistic as possible, or anime styled), but we think we will probably go with an anime look. Anyway, thanks for reading! I finnish this anime in one night. I loved the part of SAO, the impossible love with Asuna, the times Kirito it´s so close to death... I like the part of ALO but less. I want one anime like this... The oher series I´ve watch aren´t like this... I probalbly have watch this serie 7-8 times in only a few months... I know this full song in japanese... BEST ANIME EVER! I don´t know if it´s my age (14) and I´m in an impossible love like Kirito (But in the end I don´t have the girl xD) or what but I feel so identified with Kirito... So bye, I´m going to watch this serie again ^.^

GGO is ONGOING! SAO - more classic and one of the best "v-reality" anime. ALO is like a "filler". GGO is seems to be not worse than SAO in its days!
season 2 is out and is english dubbed, i don't know about other languages but it is at episode 6 right now i think
I'd suggest not watching Gun Gale Online, they have changed so much. Asuna isn't in it and Kirito isn't Kirito anymore, frankly I think they've seriously gone down hill.
Red Venom I´m watching it and I think so that is worse tha the first one, but I also liked it. It´s a good anime, and every anime I watch I got in love with it.

Okay, Something that really bothered me about SAO is that is rated PG, which is crazy, it had rape, sex, violence, etc. Where's an Anime like AOT is rated MA, Where it only had violence.
I have no complaints about the story, apart from the Fairydance arch, which almost destroyed the series.
