I get where people are coming from with the Abuelo becomes the house theory, and it’s good. But I just don’t think that’s the case. That puts a lot of power assumption on a single soul to raise mountains, grant magic, and manifest a living house altogether. Feels more like a powerful entity saw their loses, probably didn’t want Abuelo’s death and shattered love to be in vain, and so protects and blesses them. There is the fact Casita has a feminine suffix. Also the feel Casita gives is much more like the Cloak of Levitation, and or Carpet. Sure they’re just drapes, but the three act a lot alike.

I agreed even when casita dies Mirabel is the only one really sad about it the other just cared about the gifts and the fact that they didn’t have a house anymore even though casita saved them from death. It’s sad to say but casita has consciousness and they treated her as an object for their protection if I was her and met someone like Mirabel who treated me more as friend than an tool of course I would have a stronger bond with her. But it’s only my opinion.
Casita cares for everyone, she saved Camilo and Isabela when they failed to get to the candle and got everyone out when it was crumbling. She is partial to Mirabel though, I think casita sees her as the new "abuela", the person in charge of the family
