In Tarikh Nikhil narrates the story of Uri terrorist attack, which occurred on September 18, 2016, was a brazen act of terrorism that shook the Indian subcontinent. In the early hours of that fateful day, a group of heavily armed militants, allegedly from the Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), launched an audacious assault on an Indian Army base in Uri, a town in the northernmost region of Jammu and Kashmir.
The militants breached the army camp's perimeter with ease and proceeded to target unsuspecting soldiers who were asleep in their quarters. In this horrifying attack, 19 Indian soldiers lost their lives, and many others were injured. The Uri attack was a stark reminder of the persistent threat of terrorism in the region and the need for a robust response.
In the aftermath of the Uri attack, India's government faced immense pressure to take action. Just a few days later, on September 29, 2016, the Indian Army conducted what came to be known as the "surgical strikes." These were precision military operations launched across the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed region of Kashmir. The strikes targeted terrorist launch pads and caused significant damage to militant infrastructure.
The surgical strikes were India's way of conveying a strong message that it would not tolerate cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. The events of Uri and the surgical strikes that followed escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, raising concerns about regional stability. These events remain significant in the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict and continue to shape their bilateral relations.

Still that doesn't mean opposition would ask for any evidence when our soldiers have kept their lives at risk to perform the operation. Opposition's remark in this case means they are themselves giving Pakistan an opportunity to deny surgical strike. This is called ghar ka bhedi, Lanka dhay. Their argument is valid in other internal matters but not at least in international matters when security of India and ability of our soldiers are at question.
