Tempestous music and interpretation ... some of 'Der Fliegende Hollaender', with a 'redemptive' coda also. Interesting to hear the Bass Tuba (almost alone) over the String Basses in the beginning theme, then the same melody woven in for the Romantic yearning finale utterings of Faust's thoughts.
I swear by Devil's ear this is !BY FAR! the best God damn performance of this piece that I've ever heard! 100 dead horses under my keel. Swarming blizzard and out of control flames there are! ...now I just wonder who is doing it?
