Camera man did a great job. Was wondering what the temps were ? I was surprised you were eating dehydrated food. With that boat carrying everything, I would have been grilling steak each night 😂. Beautiful canyon land. I was bowhunting elk in New Mexico 30yrs ago and walked down an elk trail at timberline and walked within 20 yards of a full curl rocky mountain bighorn ram. All I could do was take pictures in awe. Sheep are epitome of hunting. Congratulations.
Right by where I live, Antelope Island, was a reliable donor area for transplanting sheep. Then a few years ago the water level got low enough that a respiratory disease got to the island and killed about 110 out of 120 sheep. They think a ram left the island and walked across the lakebed to an agricultural area looking for love and came back with more than bargained for. There's now a fence around the "island" but it goes to show how incredibly delicate they are, despite eating rocks their whole life.
Congrats Mark great ram and great shot. Very good video. I got my desert ram in november also. I got very lucky and drew the one and only non res Colorado desert sheep tag.
@@MarkVPeterson I hunted with Allout Outfitters. They did a good job guiding me. My guide for most of the hunt was Cliff Carney the owner of Non Typical Taxidermy at Delta Colorado . HE was a good guide and knows alot about these sheep and the area. My sheep was 156 4/8 not huge but decent for that herd and I am very happy with him.
How come the bullet had no blood or dirt or something.🤔on it. The way you sorta discovered it and pointing it out. Then the thing looks perfectly shaped and spotless😕
I have no idea how this actually happens but I did just as you saw. The bullet was just laying there. I was in disbelief as well. One of those oh shoot moments!
@@leftenanthiccups.4849 It has a complete pass through yes. The entry was small since the bullet if full copper. It passes through them and they don't know what hit them.
50 cal Gunwerks Muzzleloader. I’ll have to get the exact bullet size for you. But off the top of my head like a 257 grain Sierra bullet. But I’ll get an exact for you.

I really enjoyed this, Congrats! Did that spent bullet really come from the ram? It looked awful clean for passing through an animal. Not a speck of blood or hair on it. its a great video and a really great Ram!
I shot a nilgai bull about 2 weeks ago with a .338 lapua and found the bullet stuck in the hide on the opposite side and thought man it's going to be pretty tough to top that one considering the large caliber and it not exiting but my Friend I think you just beat me by finding the mushroom laying on the floor talk about one in a million.....wow
Yeah that was nuts I never thought that would ever happen. I have heard stories of guys finding bullets in the heart or something but this was cool. Thanks for watching. Like and Sub!
I didn't shoot the Ram for just the horns. The meat is actually amazing. Tenderloins are awesome on them. Also the memories, the funding that helps for conserving these animals in the future and to share these important animals with like mined conservationist like myself. Much more than horns.
I spend a lot of time in the Arizona desert hiking and finding new places to fly my paraglider. In two places I regularly climb and fly I routinely see bighorns either resting in the caves I pass or climbing along the rocks. It's not hard to get close to them. I never imagined anyone would hunt this animal. I grew up hunting deer in an area where hunting was important for population control to prevent death during the hard winter months. I've spent many years roaming the Arizona deserts and we don't have a population control problem with bighorns even with some of their biggest predators like mountain lions effectively eradicated from the wild. This is clearly legal or this wouldn't be online. I'm not going to say anything bad about hunting legally. Hunting species like the javelinas can help control the population. But please, don't pretend like this is about "conservation" of the bighorn sheep. The only thing these animals need from us to survive is for us to tread lightly on the habitat that has already been set aside for them.
That’s my cousin Steven the guide 🔥🔥
Great guy!

Nice hunting, i like the scenery. Were you using a Colorado Pro hunter? If so what's the black powder and the load, and primer?
Thanks
I am using a Gunwerks Muzzleloader. I think the bullet is a 237 grain Sierra EDL, and I shoot a weighed 100 grains. That answer your question?
Thanks Mark. The muzzleloader looks similar to my CVA Colorado pro hunter.
What brand of gun is used to shoot, how many meters to shoot? How many ki kis the animal weighs?
Congratulations. Freaking Giant
is very nice trophy sheep
Thank you! Was an awesome hunt.
