Unexpected Company In Dominican Republic Jungle

- I had been living in the Dominican republic for almost 2 months going from place to place. I had first started in Punta Cana, Then taken a bus to the capital of Santo Domingo, and from there to Puerto Plata, Sosua and Cabarete. In this video we rent scooters and head up the mountains to a very empty area with just a few people. In the coming videos I will be going ot Mexico and back to Cancun and Playa Del carmen probably.

Skipping Las Terrenas would be a mistake! It was 10 years ago that I was there, but it was VERY nice. Lots of art & music. Las Galeras was great, too. And Playa Madama was well worth the trip!

He was lucky, heard a lot of horror stories from people venturing outside of the tourist area's. I wouldn't go to DM or Mexico

Go to Jarabacoa or Constanza, the coldest places in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean, beautiful landscapes, there was even some snow 2 weeks ago, something most people wouldn't think is possible in the Caribbean

I think it was a good idea to show how you are cooking, that is very engaging, at least for me! I also prefer that you stay longer at one place and explore more, show how you interact with people and do cool stuff.
Take into account, that in places like the DR, poor people do not buy things in the supermarket, they tend to use town markets which are very informal and a lot cheaper. Also, they have a different diet, they usually consume a lot of eggs and cheap meat cuts.
You have a bad concept of what Dominican Republic is.

Well actually they use supermarkets and sometimes the Colmados for smaller amounts of stable foods,BUT you have to be aware that supermarkets in tourist spot are super high compared to places that have very little tourist shoppers, thus the locals shop where the majority of locals shop.
I'm from Santiago de los Cabelleros. I live in Boston Massachusetts and I can tell you Santiago have better and much more Supermarkets than Boston. Where william is now is very local if you go to other cities services are much better. Eliseo if you don't know my Country as I imagine stop giving bad opinions you know nothing. DOMINICAN REPUBLIC the best place in the World. I Love my Country ❤️
@@mlbelmatatan my guy I love the DR please learn to read then comment. If you dont know english dont comment. i have not said that supermarkets in the dr are bad, nor do i believe that. I just stated a fact, that most dominican families cant afford to buy what william bought in this video (pechuga de pollo) at the super market, they either buy a whole chicken from a local supplier or they simply dont eat chicken and use other ingredients such as salami, eggs and other cheap meat cuts.
I visited DR recently, rented a car and did a road trip counterclockwise around the island, and stayed at a different place each night. Some places I recommend on the North part of the island that is not to well-known are "Arroyo" - a natural swimming pool or spring on the side of the road with a restaurant. "El Saltadero, Cabrera" - a waterfall that locals climb and jump from the top into a shallow pool, the local kids also take the clay off the rocks and rub on their face. Also in the mountains, Rio Partido is nice, there is an affordable local guide that will take you out for 3000 pesos ($60) -@riopartidosalcedord
Samana Peninsula is nice as well. During my trip, I ran out of time and did not have a chance to visit the Oviedo and Bani

Thanks for showing us a little more of the Dominican republic. I had a friend who went to one of the beach resorts ,and liked it. When he walked around one night he felt it was a bit dangerous.

@@Paterson340i live in the Dominican Republic for me It has never been dangerous 8 million Tourists this year you cannot go wrong walking the streets this is not a jungle like other countries in the Caribbean and America ... I repeat 8 million Tourists confirm it ..
A friend went out there for work while walking out of his hotel he was robbed and beat up for no reason they had taken his stuff.

These videos are awesome keep up the great work. I also am Dominican and i can relate to what you were saying that when those poorer areas notice that the person is a foreigner they take advantage of you. that is why I always tell anyone that although there are people like this all around the world it is just best to be cautious and ask before doing anything, never give anything upfront, that would be money or information of any sort because people are greedy, and I know that although they might be in need that behavior it absolutely not acceptable in any way shape or form. I hope this doesn't keep happening to you and you can keep enjoying your time in the Dominican Republic

Go to Tijuana, Rosarito and Ensenada! Great food, the best in Mexico by far! Decent beaches, crazy nightlife and all around a fun tourist place!!!! Most popular for people in Southern California!
Revolución, Zona Rio, Papas n Beer, Rosarito Beach, Hong Kong, Adelitas, Popotla, Puerto Nuevo etc.....all popular bad ass spots to go to...👍🏼✌🏽

Been following you since you were going up the coast in Oaxaca.. I haven't missed a video since then. Always learn something from them and enjoy sitting back and riding along as you take us around. The videos from the DR showed a place I haven't been to but wouldn't go to. I'd rather go back to Cuba, great people, good music and easy to travel. So keep on sending us videos even after you finish the pasta!

I love seeing your adventures in DR. I was in Punta Cana the first two weeks on November, and loved visiting Santo Domingo and Higuay. I wish I had been able to interact with the locals more and looking forward to returning perhaps next year. So, what camera equipment do you use besides your mobile phone (if you do use your phone)? I want you to know that most of the people in the island are generous and honest people. Unfortunately, few bad apples are the ones that sent the wrong image.

Like how you're so health conscious > considering exactly what is in the food we choose to consume, it's become increasingly difficult to find truly wholesome food that's not dosed w/bunch of endocrine disrupting chemicals > We certainly get what we pay for...& even at that, organic isn't as clean as it should be > recall a few decades ago that all food was organic.
Re the helmet laws > most Countries make it a hobby to pull over those who look like they're from a Western Country ....wear that thing & more often than not they won't bother you.

William, go to Banco Nacional which is across from the Playero market in Sosua. You can get $40,000.00 pesos ($707.00 USD currently) and they don't charge extra fees, only your bank does. Don't go on a Sunday or on the first of the month because they will be out of money. I have lived here for almost 2 years so this is one of the tricks of the expats.

I like the parts where you are waxing philosophic. You explore many of the feeling & ideas that I have had over the last 8 years of full time travel.
In March 2022 I got an apartment in Mexico City. Hotel & Air BnB prices were skyrocketing so, after 1.5 years of enjoying Mexico, it seemed to be my only option.
It was a very difficult transition at the beginning because, like you, I prefer to live an untethered life.
I stayed in the Mexico City apartment for 4 months & now, I am travelling again. Oddly, I am missing my life in Mexico City &, all things Mexican.
I've been in SE Asia since Sept 13 and am just now starting to settle in to full time travelling again.
Sadly, the post COVID world of travel is not nearly as enthralling as the pre pandemic world was.
Personally, I think everything & everyone has been affected & changed by this scourge.
I always said that I don't want to retire in Mexico however, after being granted a Mexican Permenant Residency Visa, when the rest of the world was shutting foreigners out, I have developed a newfound sense of respect for Mexico.
Fortunately, my residency visa never expires so, I can leave & come back as often as I need to.
That's a good thing.

The food you cooked looked really good the colors were such a nice combination. Watch it on the pasta, the carbs will drain you of energy if you eat too much. But, what really made want to post is you made me laugh so hard with during the closet scene. So enjoyable to watch as usual. BTW, love your videos no matter where you are staying and I hope you don't ever feel the need to leave where you are when you are really happy there, just appease others; enjoy your time there as long as it feels right for you. Seeing you happy makes a lot of us happy too.

@william I lived there 2 yrs and it’s much better than Canadian winter❄️!!! But you need to head south and go to Bayahibe it’s a former fishermen village and where many expat Italians lives, I go back yearly normally in February when it’s -25c in Quebec!!!

It also might be deep enough- but invisible from above, in the waters below- there might be a swingset someone threw over that cliff a long time ago. Don't gamble w/ something like this- EVER.
