Nice! 👍 I'm just returning from a trip with similar conditions on the AT. I decided to keep the vestibule closed too to test out the condensation management with the tent. It was almost non-existent. I'm impressed so far and look forward to continuing to use it. Loving the tent!
WolfeAdventures Nice! I have some other DCF tents too. I decided on DCF for this one too because I've been happy with the performance of the material over the years. It's tough to go back. Sil-poly definitely packs up smaller than any DCF tents though. Hope you enjoy The One!
The tie outs are nice. I didn't end up using them as much as I thought I would though so I find I don't miss them much on my Plex Solo since my gear usually keeps the floor from floating.
@@matjobin yea, usually mine is just fine. I noticed in the rain that sometimes my gear will creep over to the edges and can pull them down under the edge of the roof. I think tie outs would help add some rigidity to the edges of the floor to prevent that from happening.
Can't speak for The Two, but The One continues to be one of my favorite tents. Follow up review is in the works as I've had a lot of nights out in the tent since this video. Thanks for watching.
Awesome video. I just got the non DCF version of this tent and stoked to start using it and getting it dialed ahead of my JMT trip! I was thinking I'd tie some lightweight cord with an adjustable knot on each of the bathtub corners so i can utilize the existing corner stake outs.
Thanks Lauren! Awesome! It's a really nice tent and held up well to everything I experienced with it. I never got around to adding cordage to the corners of the bathtub floor (I've traded it for a single trekking pole tent when not using my tarp), but that was an idea that had crossed my mind. I was thinking shock cord to allow the corners to move slightly under tension and prevent the loops from ripping out if I went with a static cord. Love the JMT! Hope you have a great hike out there! Enjoy the tent.
What was the DCF version, what does DCF mean? I assume this version isn't sold any more because the current The One tent weighs about 17,7 Oz , it's clearly a different version
@@matjobin Thanks for posting up the price in your vid. My wife just happened to be watching when you showed that. Now, how do I break the news to her I already bought one ? :)
Looks like a nice tent. Interesting to see the Dyneema/sil combos coming out. Would you be able to just use a bungie from the floor corners and attach that the existing 'fly' stakes? Seems like that may work and save the weight/bulk of 4 more groundhogs? Not sure if that would work... Looking forward to more vids this summer 😎👍🏼
PowIdaho I’m really digging it so far. That’s an interesting idea with the corners of the floor. I may have to try that! Thanks for sharing and for watching. 🤙
Yeah, I love the tent, I actually did a mod w shock cord on the bathtub corners and just attach them to the corner stakes, I made them adjustable so I can get a good pitch but it’s a nice mod because it lets the floor be flexible when you move around etc , if that makes sense.. But it save me weight w stakes. I tried long golf tees but shock cord is better. Enjoy
@@nicebopo That is awesome to hear! I'm still loving the tent and haven't done that mod yet, but I did add some side panel tie outs to the head and foot of the tent which increased room even more. It is definitely one of my favorite shelters to date.
Thanks Michael and thanks for the sub! This tent does ok in winds, but it isn't its strong suit if out in high winds. Campsite selection will help and sidewall tieouts that I added have always helped too.
Thank you for such an in depth look at the tent. I am considering switching to a 1P tent for my thru but worried about feeling claustrophobic in it. What made you decide on the The One versus the Plexamid? I’m looking between the Aeon Li, The One DCF, and Plexamid. Also, I know its relatively new to you but I think you wrote on another comment you’ve had an overnight with it now, have you had any issue with condensation dripping down that back wall and into the tent since there is no mesh between the floor and the DCF back wall? Thanks again!
J Hiker Thanks for watching. What trail are you planning on thru hiking? I decided on The One over the Plexamid due to its packability, livable space and availability (not really needing to wait the lead time). A fellow thru hiking friend of mine has an Aeon Li. I was considering that tent too, but didn't want to fuss with the pole and it packs bigger than the other two tents. The tent is still new to me but I've had it out on a few trips already and in some prime condensation prone conditions. Condensation has been minimal and I haven't had any experience with water dripping down yet. The mesh vent at the top of the back wall increases the airflow nicely. Good luck with whichever tent you decide on and also with your thru hike! I just put a video up of a trip I did recently where I used the GG DCF One tent. You can see it here if you'd like: th-cam.com/video/dIgY8MNigAA/w-d-xo.html
@@matjobin excellent. I’ll watch that later. I’m doing the Tahoe Rim Trail this summer and PCT 2022. I need to get my weight down as much as possible due to my back. I currently have the TT DR Li but can’t get away from the siren call of lighter. I’ll take the DR Li this summer for Tahoe and then decide what I want to do for the PCT.
Chris, I haven't experienced either of those things yet and am happy to report that the tent is still going strong: th-cam.com/video/T9Ua9hCcJV8/w-d-xo.html
It's been very minimal and I've had it in some prime condensation conditions. Unavoidable with any single wall tent, especially with dyneema added into the mix. For the couple of occasions that I have experienced it, it's just been a quick swipe with my microfiber towel in the morning before packing up and it's good to go. I've been very happy with it so far, including out in torrential downpours of 1-2" of rain per hour. I'll be putting a follow up video on this channel with the tent in the near future.
@Mantusynas It has done well in most of the winds I’ve experienced in the tent, but it doesn’t do as well if the side walls of the tent end up in the direct path of strong winds. A pyramid mid style shelter holds an edge on that, or a mountaineering specific tent.
Thanks Matt! I am 5'10". At 6'2" it might be a little tight. The Two might be a better option and would allow for a little more room to sleep diagonally.
Just tried my dcf T2. Got down to 43F with the vestibules shut next to a river. Not a drop of condensation in the morning. Like magic

Just got the DCF two. Can't wait to try it
Nice! Enjoy!
I have other DCF tents I chose to get this one in sill-poly for the packability and durability. It really is crazy how small this tent packs up.

I like the tie outs at the corners of the floor. My plexamid’s floor could really use some of those.

Saw one of these in 50 mph winds get absolutely shredded. Ventilation and condensation not really a concern at that point .
