    Today I'm bringing you guys along to check out a used Kawasaki Vulcan 900 on craigslist. Join me to see what I do for my inspection process and test ride when checking out a used motorcycle. This isn't a comprehensive list, but should get you pointed in the right direction when it comes to inspecting and test riding a used moto.
    A few tips:
    Always do some research ahead of time to narrow down what kind of bike you want and potential things to look out for with that specific make and model.
    I recommend bringing a friend along who has some experience (when possible).
    Meet in a public place, follow your gut, and ride safe! Enjoy!
    Gear I Use:
    Lapel Mic w/GoPro Hero5 Connection (everything you need for audio setup): amzn.to/2Wzw6W1
    Simpson Bandit Ghost Helmet: amzn.to/2Go1RLI
    GoPro Hero 4: amzn.to/2t38USf
    Fox Gloves: amzn.to/2D30OOj

    Because I can fix them myself, I like to buy older Harleys with maybe a couple blown gaskets, seals and such. I take them down all the way to the frame and replace what's needed myself. Over the past 25 years I've had an 86, 96 (which I still ride), and 2000 sportster and an 84 and 88 fxr. All of which I got really cheap. less than $2000 in some cases and never had to put more than $300-$400 in them. But as you stated, those that don't want to take the time or not mechanically inclined, this is a good list.

      Nice! Yeah, I bet you can pick up some smoking a deals just by putting a little TLC into some of these bikes. Sounds like you've found some good ones. Plus if you enjoy it, I'm sure it makes for a great outlet/hobby. Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!

    I see duct tape and bullet holes...should I worry?

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Hahaha...as long as the duct tape isn't pealing, and the rust around the bullet holes is minimum, I'd go for it! Sounds like you landed yourself a SMOKING deal!

    First time seeing your video.👍
    @8:26 brings to mind how mine did that. It pnly happened once, but I knew something cause it! Turns put it was the left front wheel bearing had ever so slight wear. Had already had it planned to change wheel bearing since it was a used bike. Over 13000 miles since and never had another shimmy.

    A voltmeter is also handy to see how soon am I replacing the battery. If possible, pull the sparkplugs and see their condition.

      Yeah, someone here local is trying to flip the white/gold one. It was leaking a ton of oil all down the front side of the engine. Could've been a simple fix replacing a hose clamp, but I didn't wanna mess with it.

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check dmv.org for specifics to your state. They're pretty good.
      A few things I like to check/have: clean/clear title from seller (make sure it's signed, and notarized if your state requires it).
      Bill of sale (not required but good to have). You can print one off from dot specific to your state.
      In az those are the two main documents. Again, double check with your state's laws/regulations. Good luck with the purchase!

    • @JonsMotoGarage
      @JonsMotoGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I'm not sure. There was a considerably amount of oil build up/presumably oil leaking from around the drain bolt. Possibly as simple as replacing the crusher washer, but I didn't wanna mess with it.
