The figure looks really straight on in more vanilla poses, so you can make it work, but I think we’re all in this for something a little better than “make it work”, especially at this price point, with very little paint and accessories. The Toy Biz version is 17 years old and it shows, but in terms of pure effort, it kicks this one’s ass up, down, and sideways.
To be honest! The figure look cool, but the lack of articulations on the upper body is a bummer! I have the defenders 5-pack luke cage and even if he's on the hyperion body mold, i prefer it! And i like the modern luke cage in comics!
Despite what the others are saying about this figure. This is still my most favourite version of LC hands down. No figure is perfect. But this is heck as a comic accurate as can be. Been waiting for this classic version since the last one by toybiz. Great review as always.
Whatup McU (Been a minute since I got at you here). The size difference between Blade & Cage makes sense. Cage is 6'6. He should be of similar size to Bishop (also named "Lucas") and I WOULD say Thor (also 6'6) but Hasbro loves to oversize that guy. Fun fact about Blade; He USED to be listed at 5'9. His height has since been revamped to 6'2.
Listed "official" heights don't always work out, depending upon in which comic the character appears. Thing is supposed to be an even 6 feet... but as characters like the Hulk just continue to grow and grow, the Thing has in those comics and in Marvel comics overall.
Got this fig but only because we probably won't see a better one for a long time. No boot cut. No toe articulation. Ridiculous decision where arms connect (gaps, etc). Head-scratching choice in torso articulation. Wrist articulation massively limited by wristbands. Facial expression looks like he's sleeping with his eyes open or stoned. Overall poseability super limited. Anticipation for this fig was a 10. Reality is maybe a 5. Great fig for in-package collectors, though! 😂
I don’t see how he couldn’t have a diaphram/ab crunch joint. Hasbro COULD’VE done what Jada did with Ryu and used a soft plastic for the shirt like with Ryu’s gi so the clothing doesn’t get in the way of the articulation
I see people with all these critiques but I learned long ago the answer to all of them is that they don’t give a fuck at all dude lol stop collecting them
Plastic was a cost cutting thing but when they saw the loss of revenue they didn't like that so bad to revert back which is a win for us and them in the long run.
I'm curious for modders/custom peeps out there. Wanna try taking out the yellow top and swapping Gi Joe Classified Series Roadblock torso for the ab crunch? 🤔
Thank you. Soooooooo... why can't Hasbro paint the armpits of these figures to match the appropriate clothing color??? Same thing with the Walmart Joe Fixit. Sure, it's a cosmetic fix, but... I want a cosmetic fix, sheesh!
What I don't get is that they clearly sculpted a "shirt" overlay to save money on tooling a new torso, but then they sculpted a new torso with no articulation anyway so the tooling budget is net zero. As for parts count, it seems about the same as well. I like the figure, but these decisions are baffling. It should have just been a new torso with the shirt as part of the sculpt or keyed in.
People who started collecting classified or jada toys must have a rude awakening with this wave. It’s just a final reminder for me as a collector that this is the LAST wave I ever pre order from marvel legends. I actually went in on giant man but am praying it doesn’t back so maybe whoever is in charge can see how horrible the figure sales have been with legends and how the failed both has labs that they get new management because they are pushing collectors away. I feel the same way with macfarlane just a different scenario.
I was going to mention other toy lines in my post but i didn't want to. Someone new the the action figure game like jada, who is known for making diecast cars, can come in and make a street fighter line that looks great, has paint, articulation, and accessories; and comes in at a lower price point to marvel legends makes no sense. People keep shilling for hasbro saying inflation is a problem for them, how? They reuse the same bodies, they don't include that much paint, and hardly any accessories to go with any of their figures, it makes zero sense as a collector. Neca has been killing it across their lines. They all come with great sculpt and paint, accessories, and decent... not the best, but in some cases better than ML... articulation. And these people get excited for pinless joints while to figure overall looks like crap.
I can understand the complications with the sleeves. It's a very dated style which is hard to reproduce. But the lack of any articulation in the torso is irredeemable. There simply is no excuse that makes any sense why they couldn't have put a crunch under that shirt overlay. Especially since tge ball joint doesn't even work either.
I’ve been looking forward to this figure because I like the classic comic versions of major characters, but its a bit of a disappointment. I’ll wait for a discount maybe.
Put both figures next to each other and there is actually LESS articulation LESS paint MORE money. How about be careful what you wish for with the new iron fist they will give you what you asked for alright
That new one looks bad to me. I think alot of these new figures look bad. They look like hasbro is going for a realistic face for comic/cartoon figures, which in turn looks like someone is cosplaying the characters they are trying to make. Besides the face, there is zero paint and let's be real, no accessories. Alot of people keep giving that hasbro ML team a pass, because they said it out of their mouths; they want to make a bunch of figures to complete teams over fewer better figures, which is garbage to want to make a bunch of subpar figures over better quality figures.
For what this is, or hascrap did this one, it's good. But to me it's a complete ridiculous disappointment. Worst representation of comic book look of the character hascrap could have pushed out of their corporate butthole. I give this one four thumbs 👎 from weirdo body buck ,to weirdo fro. Very unfartworthy 😂
For a figure of 2023, this is a mess, and a giant step backward for this company, this is a trash figure, and a big cash grab (mismatched paint, weird cuts on the jacket, lack of articulation). Hasbro isn't a new company, but with this figure, they are still in that area. And they want to rise the price even more, lol.

Ill wait for sale or clearance on this figure. He lokks good just in basic pose
It’s nice to have the little bios again

…Yeah we’re gonna need another updated and larger Luke Cage.

He's the male version of House of X Jean and Astonishing Emma Frost in terms of articulation fun... which is none and just about useless.

Somehow hasbro knows how to do a ball jointed waist or a ball jointed upper diaphragm but never both on one figure.
I'm curious for modders/custom peeps out there. Wanna try taking out the yellow top and swapping Gi Joe Classified Series Roadblock torso for the ab crunch? 🤔
Has anyone done this? I'm curious as well, can't see any youtube video so far
The pants should be blue to give the classic look and feel to it.

Dope review bruh.

You know he should have been played by Mr T in the 80s

This whole wave is bad. Anthonyscustoms even reviewed this figure and said it's horrible.
not surprising. Anthony usually wines. but for this figure review, he had PMS!
