Great review Shartimus! I'm African American and I think the hair is fine. In most comic panels I've seen the tiara is squashing down the Afro on the sides, which is realistic, but then there are some others where the tiara is as if it he combed it through the fro to hold it in place (this would have to mean the tiara disconnects in the back which makes less sense). Overall for hasbro level of detail I think the hair works.
We already need a “ variant “ with angry punching through a brick wall head and a smiling, smirking just got paid head. Metallic painted and shaded shirt and boots with blue pants. Then paint the arm pits . Hopefully we get a classic iron fist either in a 2 pack or deluxe version with a couple heads, several hands and NEW energy effects
Thank you. I like the hair a lot; this look for Cage for me will never get old. I also like the yellow a lot. I don't get why the armpits don't get painted on these types of figures???
I like this head sculpt a lot the hair is nice too the only time my hair stays perfectly round and smooth is if I’m picking it out constantly throughout the day but I don’t do that with my Afro n I doubt Luke Cage would be having the time to pick out his fro while crime fighting 😂
I think most people don't realize how many of Marvel Legends actually DON'T have boot rotation, like all females, most MCU figs, suited or street clothes figures, many BAFS, etc. There's also several with limited or no torso articulation like again suited figures or figures with an overlay. This one at least has the waist joint. And pretty much every figure with an overlay gets the same thing with the armpit gap. Luke Cage was just the perfect storm that gathered all these elements in one fig. Though personally the boot rotation missing is just silly.
This fig is a fail on all levels…the way Hasbro articulates most of their ML figs and the lack of certain needed accessories, makes me wonder how much longer ppl are going to continue paying for their subpar releases. Not to mention the lack of paint…smh. #ripmarvellegends 😢
Nah... Hasbro dropped the ball on this one. Such a simple and easy character and they blew it. I can't believe what they did with the under arms. No angry head is crazy. No boot cut either? 😅 the heck this cost $30 for? This could have been so much greater.
i agree, compare this figures with jada toys and there´s no argument, jada toys are better articulated, have better accessories, better sculpt and cheaper!!!, marvel legends is a rip off
I do like your honesty on the photo real tech for the comic figures because Anthonyscustoms does not like it but I do think it's great An alternative angry head sculpt would have been so........good to have for Luke Cage aka Power Man, However, He is definitely very awesome to have in hand unlike most people who hate this figure
Couldn’t Hasbro have just used a separate yellow chest piece for the section of the flesh colored shoulders that peek out from under the yellow shirt to keep the same color throughout? They at least could have added some paint or something.
I think it's a good size for THIS version of Luke Cage. 70s Power Man was large, but in a realistic way. He was built the same way a strong-looking guy you might see at the grocery store would be. It wasn't until like the 2000s when they started drawing Luke Cage like a mountain lol
Too bad they didn't implement yellow parts attached to his sides/armpit or at least painted it yellow. And yeah an angry face would have been great too. No boot swivel, the ultra bright yellow, just not greeeaaaaat. Great review though!
Luke Cage is supposed to be 6’6” (same height as Thor) in the comics. This figure is too short and already has annoying flaws about it. We just got this update, but we need another update on a comic Luke Cage. This one ain’t it. SMH
I like the sculpt on the chest. And that's about it. Everything else is bare bones cheap. Even his face is just... Weird. And absolutely no paint details to be found
@@chewymew That's the thing: "superhero proportions" as a standard way of thinking is antiquated and hasn't been an industry-standard in AGES. Have you seen any animation bibles or style guides from like the last 20 years? "Superhero proportions" the way people like Anthonyscustoms use the phrase aren't a thing anymore
Yup the hair is weird Afro hair with dents. I almost think if they attempted a jerry curl it would of came out as the afro style hair id like better. The shirt is too bright yellow for me. The gun metal grey color.. I have to see in person. Where is that boot joint! Lol Something just feels ...off. I dunno. It's sadly a no go for me.
I just got a question. Why are people so happy when ML make the comic/cartoon figures look real instead of like the comic or cartoon? It looks like some guy doing cosplay. Would people have that same energy if neca made the cartoon tmnt figures to look "real"? ML team making MCU movie figures look real makes all the sense in the world.
Anthonyscustoms? It's just a matter of personal preference, neither option is better or worse. I personally LOVE this aesthetic! I think that whole "person doing cosplay' argument is silly. I just think it looks cool, not much more to say really
Bored expression, unnatural neck hinge, crazy unpainted gap under the arms, no accessories... Hasbro is just so lazy. It's like their corporate mission is to toss out a 6/10 every figure. They got the right costume, but the proportions on what appears to be a unique sculpt are atrocious- he just looks like yet another dude in cosplay and not a superhero.
@@juansanchez209I'd agree with you, but this is based on the comic version. Honestly shouldn't they exaggerate his features just a tad bit more? Ultimately I think we all want our displays to be full of personality and as dynamic as possible
The armpits alone make the figure look stupid. A dated look is OK because that's what happens with comics, but it doesn't have a collectable look enough to pull it off so it just looks like a cheap, dated toy.
Bruh, they not about to worry about details on hands. They don't do finger nails either, why do you expect them to do separate tones for palms? FYI, fully pigmented palms are very rare, but they do exist. I'm black and my palms are the same shade as the rest of my brown skin
@victory7763 u must have a skin condition. 99% of dark skin people have paler palms. Next time around a group of black folks have them hold out their palms. Lol and smh. Any way most toys give gloves to black figs so it's normally not an issue but gloveless open palms? That's wack.
@gmjr30 You don't have to educate me on that, I just told you that I know it's rare, I also told you that I'm black (so obviously I've been around other black people). Let me educate you now, ALL people (unless with a condition like me) have less pigmentation on their palms because human palms have 5 layers of skin on palms instead of 4 like the rest of the body; and it has high levels of keratin, the same protein our body uses to create fingernails (hence why I brought it up earlier). So you're acting like they are singling out black characters when technically ALL characters would be due this level of detail... But let me push back on this nonsense because although I hate to say it, this is some sjw rabbit hole nonsense. You advocating them to give extra detail to black characters' hands is effectively you diminishing desire to create them. This would obviously cost more money. You're saying black action figures should cost more money... Stop it. Like I said, NONE of the characters have detail in their hands. This is an all race why thing with most basic action figures... What's crazy is someone has to explain simple biology and logistics to you in the 21st century... but I guess we're still behind on reading.
That power man needs a hair pick for that fro. It's looking a bit lumpy. The figure is not perfect, but I may get it if I see it on sale. Yeah this needed an alternate angry head.
And I think Marvel Legends need to come with two heads in general. They keep cheaping out on that.
Love me some Heros For Hire! Hope your Kickstarter actually funds, if so, I'm definitely in on some Edil and Erus!
Lets show some luv and support street humans lets goooo!!!!
A "powerful" review as always, Shartimus. Power Man is definitely on my list. Granted he has no ab crunch, he looks awesome.

Nope. That torso articulation was a complete killer for me. Sadly the biggest let down of the year. I've sold mine on already, huge disappointment 😥

The toy looks fire
I leave all my figures in the box. No posing. I will buy because that's the only way to get another Powerman in the future.
They should’ve made it one piece so that there wouldn’t be visible armpits and he could’ve had an ab crunch
Hey whats another good online toy sites besides bbts? For sales and whatnot
#streethumans 🔥🔥🔥
Great review as always! No boot swivel, though = no sale. I refuse to reward bad Hasbro's behaviour.
