      @@pjn123 Hahaha good one! Yeah he did not have the best 1st game but you'll see in his highlights video where he played in Japan, Their interpretation of laws at the breakdown is quite different then our laws😂. Their refs give you way more freedom to compete at the breakdown compared to international rugby. I think that's why he struggled a bit at the breakdown because that's normally his strength. But I can tell you he had some amazing runs and defence in the Top League this year.

      He's one of my favourite Springboks. I liked him from the beginning but he had n period where his defence let him and the Boks down but over the last few years he's improved in every aspect of his game. When the Boks eventually do decide to spread the ball to the wings he is quite an affective playmaker. And he always acts like that extra fetcher as seen in this video. For me personally he is one of the most well-rounded players in the world at the moment🙂

    • @tasanalytics
      @tasanalytics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I agree. I also think it has to do with the gameplans of SA teams. You can see he has a lot more freedom when he plays for Munster and he proved to be very good on attack. The Boks just don't use him like that. The Stormers also didn't use him like that.

    Damian is very impressive, but just a thought, wil Jan Serfontein take the the number 12 from Damian from the boks?

    • @tasanalytics
      @tasanalytics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Will be interesting to see who takes over in 3 or 4 years. The only problem with Jan is that he is just 2 years younger than Damian.
      My pick for the Boks at 13 in 2-3 years would be Henco van Wyk. He is by far the most talented young prospect in SA. The Boks value defensive midfields so he make a lot of sense.

    • @anthonymokootherock1362
      @anthonymokootherock1362 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tasanalytics I think as far as young stars are concerned, it's better than not to talk them up as nick Mallet onces said. Nothing is guaranteed. Others are late bloomers. I don't know if you could still recall a guy by the name of wesley Moolman played in the same Monument team as Jaco Taute, Everybody was sold that he would be a springbok because in high school and age group level he was better than everyone else but quickly faded into obscurity and never lived up to the billing.it happens with young stars. I know you are a rugby man and we appreciate the videos you make but then again you better than most should know that talent alone is not enough to warrant success. Henco van wyk is pure talent but nothing is set in stone. Just to throw a spanner in the works, Evan Roos is arguably with inveted comas the best number 8 prospect of players 22 years old and younger but it is not a guarantee that he will be a springbok in 2 to 3 years. Anyone of Pepsi buthelezi, francke Horn, Elrich louw, izak Esterhuizen, Dylan Richardson, Muller Uys, George cronje and Gideon van wyk ( and plenty more) can play for the Springboks in future but then again, the players listed above will not all play for the Springboks in years to come. Another one was Ben Atiga in New Zealand, touted as a future All Blacks captain but it was never to be. Duane Vermeulen is a perfect example of the late bloomer type of player I'm referring to. Capped at age 27 and he is by far the best bok number 8 of the professional era that South Africa has produced. I'm just saying though, not criticizing you or anything.

    • @tasanalytics
      @tasanalytics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anthonymokootherock1362 I wish more people could have the same reasoning as you. You make excellent points and I agree with you about everything. I know nothing is guaranteed because anything can happen in a sport like rugby. Stuff like injuries, coaching, team management can all play a significant role in a players development. Jordan Hendrikse is a very good example, he was good at school but certainly not one of the top player, yet he came out of nowhere and is now starting flyhalf for the Lions (With a ton of potential).
      In saying that, the reason why I think Henco is such an amazing talent is because I love the way he plays the game. I've learned so much stuff that I'll take into coaching one day by watching what he plays. The way he organizes a defence and how he always looks work is great to watch, he honestly plays like a veteran. I also like how he's able to shine without getting the ball such as the Varsity Cup where he barely got the ball but made every bit of it count. Also when his team does not get ball on attack he makes sure he gets involved on defence and is always able to get 2-3 turnovers a game with his defence. To top everything off, the guy has no ego.
      Even if Henco does not turn out to play for the Boks one day, I'll always make sure I don't miss a game he plays. But If there is one player made for international test rugby then it's him. The fact that he turned down big offers overseas to stay and play for the 13 green and gold jersey, makes me confident that he's going to give it his everything to achieve that.
      Again, I appreciate the comment. You made excellent points!

    TOP 3 inside center for me. I can't see how he would be better than his current contender (well, the WC trophy aside, not really down to the individual), but I'm not saying he's worse either. Henshaw is basically the same player, maybe inherently not as good but currently in the form of his life. Both are basically loose forward playing in the center, Henshaw is a bit more evasive while DDA is beefier, but they have basically the same playing style and strength, currently at the same level. And then, Fickou is in a completely different mold, clearly not as good in the crashball and other hard stuff, but much more subtle, very good animation/distribution, basically more complete, a jack of all trade master of none, but can do it all.
    All in all, 3 wonderfull player, pick the one that suits your style the most. And of course, Henshaw and DDA are very similar, since SA and Irish style are pretty close. But I wouldn't say any of them is dominant enough to be crowned single best in the world at his position.

    • @tasanalytics

    I still feel like we are very light at 10-12 positions. De Allende and Handre get injured we don't have anyone who can play 80 minutes against All Blacks. Unless Willemse moves to 12 and Aphelele is at 15. Then Curwin should be our reserve 10 already. If we are serious about building for 2023.

The pendulum has shifted though and I predict that the Boks will beat the AB's more often now, as well as 1 or 2 other teams who can establish forward dominance. Music and hyperbole. If those two things could be improved, this channel could be really excellent.
    If an argument or a case is strong, there is no need to exaggerate. Exaggeration and hyperbole make arguments less credible not more compelling.
