One important fact you missed to say, IconX = "Water/dust resistance: The Galaxy Buds only have an IPX2 water resistant rating, which is equivalent to water that hits the product at a 15 degree angle. The Gear IconX has an IP67 dust and water resistant rating, which means you really don't have to worry about wearing these when you are out exercising or commuting in inclement weather." So Icon X are for those jogging lovers and the Galaxy buds are for most daily bases use. I think thats a really important fact. Also IconX has connection with samsung health app, galaxy buds does NOT. Great video. Thumb up.
I have had the Gear IconX since 2018. I was on my 5th pair after warranty return after warranty return for one or both buds suddenly becoming quiet. They now no longer have any back stock of the IconX and Samsung is sending me a refund. I was told on my first warranty return that the issue was moisture. I also noticed that when I purchased the first pair, they were touted as waterproof. The subsequent pairs that I received all had the language changed saying that moisture could cause issues. Any idea how these will hold up to sweat / moisture due to activity? Running, working, etc?

Eventually I just stopped cashing in the warranty, but unfortunately I found out about the Galaxy buds tradein stuff right after the warranty expired.

In December I got the IconX 2018 from Costco for $120 sale price. This was before I even knew the buds were coming out. I am happy with my purchase and do not have a need to upgrade but at the normal price vs the new ones, the buds are a better value.
Me too I bought them from Amazon on February 15th 😅 for 130$ and didn't know the new buds were coming. But I'm happy with them except that it's easily noticeable in my jeans.
Lol if Costco sells the new buds, just trade them in lmao Costco let's you do that which is the reason why I got it from Costco. Just in case I drop them in the toilet( which I have) return them and get a new pair with no fee
The gear iconx is more of a sports headset, while the galaxy buds are universal. The gear iconx may have better grip in people's ears during workouts as well.

As an bass head and a proud owner of the Galaxy Buds.....the bass is adequate enough because it's so damn precise and well tuned not the most bassy but it packs a punch
The Galaxy buds are wayyy to loud at max volume. You'd be deaf in a month using them there. Most people just dont realize you gotta turn the buds volume all the way up, and then use your phones separate volume.
Dude this here for me. I never seen that frature and to me its groundbreaking, what if your phone dies. Although I dont see many companies picking this feature up. I hope they do. To me it takes out the connection factor for the Bluetooth. How you gonna have shitty connection when the music is stored on the buds themselves???

Just bought the galaxy buds a week ago and by far has been the best set of buds/bluetooth device for my ear I've ever bought. Very comfortable. And very easy to setup and connect to s8. So glad I've never bought the previous buds
Getting them with the phone this week. I'm glad they're good and not too bassy...I listen to Queen alot. If I want more bass I have other headphones I can use. But the pre-order offer saved me 170 dollars...they cost more in my country...I checked them out. Great review Jeff.

Big plus for me, videos with language accent makes listening experience sucks. Im in Australia and just got my s10+ couple days ago, I was told by my carrier that Samsung Australia ran out of Buds and have to wait a while longer, so they gotta be good.
The Gear IconX 2018's are perfect. They are the most comfortable pair of truly-wireless earbuds that I own. I often forget that I even have them on (using ambient sound, of course), until I get the alert that the battery is low. I've had these for well over a year and just started using the on-board storage for music; the BEST idea yet! The sound quality on these rival Beats and Bose earphones (I have them all), easily, with the right media player EQ settings. These little things damn-near knock My head off and STILL handles the insane bass settings that I use. I literally have to turn the bass and/or volume down and I LOVE that!!! As for the Galaxy Buds? The only reason why I might cop them is for that sick neon green color; that's IT!!! They do not impress Me beyond that.

Had some real problems with my Gear IconX 2018s. Cleaning issues, pairing issues and the left bud entirely quit working but depsite all of that those earbuds left such an amazing impression that I went out and purchased the Samsung buds to replace them. Immidiately I can see the quality, hear it and I'm impressed! At $141 after tax I cannot complain at all. Worth buying.
I just bought these today, I recommend them 100%. If you have a S9 and above, you have "Dolby Atmos" feature and the earbuds are just 🔥 they are good for $130. Definitely not getting ripped off 👍🏽👍🏽
I just bought the ICONX and asside from wireless charging and comfort I think they are better than the buds(based on reviews). They do also pair instantly with the gear app. I wouldn't be surprised the clearity is better on the buds cause the iconx have awesome sound range. They aren't actually bass heavy at all but the bass is there. I find myself not enjoying hiphop and trap music due to less bass but dubstep, synthwave, rock and country music sounds so amazing. Im glad i bought them. I really hope we get a third model to improve on these two because I feel the quality and specs of both are too split for comfort and my iconx are almost perfect. And ambient sounds works flawlessly
I like these new galaxy buds they do sound better than iconx2018 to me, and are smaller but I do miss the swipe gestures on the iconx2018. Iconx2018 control scheme was much better, it let you control everything, I never had to pull phone out for anything. Oh and the on board memory was sweet.
Amen to that. It's a tough decision for me if I should get rid of my IconX or not. The Galaxy Buds do sound a bit better and are definitely more portable and fit in a pocket better, but I agree that the touch controls are definitely worse than the IconX, and it's annoying to have to pull out your phone.
I have pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S10 and I have received my Galaxy Buds for free and I am very satisfied with these earbuds! they connect so quickly with the smartphone, this is what a good earbud should do!
Pre-ordered the S10+ and am actually excited to listen to the new wireless earbuds that come with the phone which is very cool. So on top of the pretty good reviews on the phone the buds have gotten pretty good reviews as well, win win situation here.
Get my icon x almost a year ago and it worth my 270 SGD , it look cool and the sounds effect just awesome, i will not spend money on bud yet unless my iconx has spoil.

If I was to get a new watch for music, it'd be the Fenix 5; although, cant justify the upgrade when my Fenix 3 works flawlessly. Hey so being an owner of the IconX's, can you help me out a bit? The main reason I bought them was because of the internal storage. The sound is great and the ambient sound is amazing! I really do like the easy pairing of the new buds, although the IconXs don't give me any trouble. The Touch controls are AMAZING on the IconXs. But I would love to have wireless charging. What do you think?
ok For me personally, I never take wireless charging feature as my consideration for buying new gadget (it's a nice addition, but I just take it as a bonus point 😀) Like you said, I keep my IconX for the internal storage, sound quality, and I believe it's waterproof And I don't have Galaxy S10 to PowerShare the new Galaxy Bud So no wireless charging on IconX is not a concern :)
Good review bro as stated in your review owners of Icon X should definitely pass on these for now. I've been completely satisfied with my Icon X and they pair flawlessly to my Note 8 all day everyday.
I just got the Galaxy Buds at Costco for 100 bucks.. I do like the pairing. Worked perfectly.. the fitting on my iconx feel better for me and the sound so much better on the Iconx.. only issue is the iconx right ear bud lost sound after about 10 months.. it's works but really low... Hope the Galaxy Buds last longer

The Icon X are the winners here for runners. GPS + 4 Gb storage, you can track your runs and listen to music without carrying a 5''/6'' cellphone or a watch on your sweaty wrist. They have a pretty good grip on your ears and its size can be adjusted. They have their own assistant tracking your routine + Samsung Health. It's a fitness product, and in comparison to other earbuds for runners they are the cheapest considering all the features (at least at the time I bought em). That should drive your decision and they are targeted to different markets (and money of course).
I have the icon x and my biggest complaint is the mic. When I make calls on them, the caller or callee, the person on the other end can hear back ground noise more than my voice and it's super annoying! Also they are very fragile I've dropped a couple times in the case and I notice static now, also one or the other will like connection randomly! Thanks for the review great info, will subscribe!

I thought I was the only one that thought the gear iconx were uncomfortable. I wore them when I worked outside and especially after wearing them for hours straight and pulling them out on break, my ears would be in pain.
EL JEFE REVIEWS I just tried to toggle this setting on my S8 with that 2019 Galaxy buds, but it says the Bluetooth device connected isn’t compatible with that setting.
The buds seem to have its own volume. By default, pressing the right bud twice and holding it increases it. Left ear decreases it. I set my buds to set the volume by pressing once and hold.
I returned my 2018 Icon X's because of occasional static/crackling and dropout in the left bud. They worked fine for the first hour and then the intermittent static would occur. Very annoying and they were barely 1-2 feet from my phone.
I returned them too. They were very uncomfortable to wear after 1 hour. When I changed the fins to small fit was better but they kept on disconnecting because the sensor did not detect my ear. Do not regret returning it. Got cheaper TWS ear buds instead.

This is a useful video for those wondering whether the jump to the latest buds is worth it - but based on what I've heard from you and others who've tried the Galaxy Buds, they're a no brainer. I opted for the S10e so won't get these as a freebie, but I'll still pick some up to see what the fuss is about. Loving your work fella 💪
Great video from the headphone King I had the gear iconx and for me the pairing was terrible also very uncomfortable the sound was good and the battery was average I'm looking forward to trying the Galaxy buds to see if they compared with the airpods
My Icon X had serious problem with gunking up the membrane behind the mesh-filter. Had to change them as soon I wore them for any longer time, ended up removing the membrane from the mesh-filter. Also found the sound a lot better after that, had trouble getting the treble stand out with the membrane there. Not that this helped since they soon stopped understanding when they are in the ear or not and are now unusable. The Buds are so far is delivering a much better sound and experience.
Yes same with my iconx. they pair up when the case is closed, all the time and the right ear bud only produces 10% of the sound it did originally, literally! Throwing the icons away once I get the galaxy buds
I actually answered this question in my full review. No video latency on Android devices in my testing. Slight latency on iOS devices when using the TH-cam app. There is noticeable latency on both platforms when playing mobile games.

I had the IconX for over a year and loved them although I did not use them frequently but my husband recently borrowed them, paired them with his iPhone 8+ and decided to keep them. I just got the Galaxy Buds and so far they are fabulous! He will truly enjoy the higher volumes and better base of the IconX and I think the Galaxy Buds will be even better for me.
If and when the second gen Airpods come out, do u plan on doing a comparison video between those and the Galaxy Buds since their Android connectivity is what really puts them in contention with the Airpods...?

I have pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S10 and I have received my Galaxy Buds for free and I am very satisfied with these earbuds! they connect so quickly with the smartphone, this is what a good earbud should do!

Pre-ordered the S10+ and am actually excited to listen to the new wireless earbuds that come with the phone which is very cool. So on top of the pretty good reviews on the phone the buds have gotten pretty good reviews as well, win win situation here.

@@trumpeter93 Thanks for the suggestion, but I much prefer to have my Garmin Fenix 3 HR w/ chest HR monitor for workouts. If I was to get a new watch for music, it'd be the Fenix 5; although, cant justify the upgrade when my Fenix 3 works flawlessly. Might purchase a small bluetooth capable mp3 player in the near future.

Hey so being an owner of the IconX's, can you help me out a bit? The main reason I bought them was because of the internal storage. The sound is great and the ambient sound is amazing! I really do like the easy pairing of the new buds, although the IconXs don't give me any trouble. The Touch controls are AMAZING on the IconXs. But I would love to have wireless charging. What do you think?
ok For me personally, I never take wireless charging feature as my consideration for buying new gadget (it's a nice addition, but I just take it as a bonus point 😀)
Like you said, I keep my IconX for the internal storage, sound quality, and I believe it's waterproof
And I don't have Galaxy S10 to PowerShare the new Galaxy Bud
So no wireless charging on IconX is not a concern :)

Good review bro as stated in your review owners of Icon X should definitely pass on these for now. I've been completely satisfied with my Icon X and they pair flawlessly to my Note 8 all day everyday.

I just got the Galaxy Buds at Costco for 100 bucks.. I do like the pairing. Worked perfectly.. the fitting on my iconx feel better for me and the sound so much better on the Iconx.. only issue is the iconx right ear bud lost sound after about 10 months.. it's works but really low... Hope the Galaxy Buds last longer
I heard that cleaning the Iconx helps with sound issues. But $100 for the Galaxy Buds is a great price!

The Icon X are the winners here for runners.
GPS + 4 Gb storage, you can track your runs and listen to music without carrying a 5''/6'' cellphone or a watch on your sweaty wrist.
They have a pretty good grip on your ears and its size can be adjusted.
They have their own assistant tracking your routine + Samsung Health.
It's a fitness product, and in comparison to other earbuds for runners they are the cheapest considering all the features (at least at the time I bought em). That should drive your decision and they are targeted to different markets (and money of course).

I have the icon x and my biggest complaint is the mic. When I make calls on them, the caller or callee, the person on the other end can hear back ground noise more than my voice and it's super annoying! Also they are very fragile I've dropped a couple times in the case and I notice static now, also one or the other will like connection randomly! Thanks for the review great info, will subscribe!

I thought I was the only one that thought the gear iconx were uncomfortable. I wore them when I worked outside and especially after wearing them for hours straight and pulling them out on break, my ears would be in pain.
Did you try different size ear wings? I use the smallest ones. They hurt at first but after several hours im use to them and they fit perfectly now.
TheSilverWolf1998 I had a same problem! I ended up returning them. Perhaps this is better.

Good review. I just got my buds & have been testing them, so far i like everything except the Volume on them is very low compared to others.
Try going into the Bluetooth settings and toggle the "Media Volume Sync". That has fixed the low volume issue for many users.
EL JEFE REVIEWS I just tried to toggle this setting on my S8 with that 2019 Galaxy buds, but it says the Bluetooth device connected isn’t compatible with that setting.
The buds seem to have its own volume. By default, pressing the right bud twice and holding it increases it. Left ear decreases it. I set my buds to set the volume by pressing once and hold.
Yes you have to go into app, set tap controls for volume and then volume on buds, mine wear set low from factory all good nice and loud

I returned my 2018 Icon X's because of occasional static/crackling and dropout in the left bud. They worked fine for the first hour and then the intermittent static would occur. Very annoying and they were barely 1-2 feet from my phone.
I dont blame you. I would've done the same.
I returned them too. They were very uncomfortable to wear after 1 hour. When I changed the fins to small fit was better but they kept on disconnecting because the sensor did not detect my ear. Do not regret returning it. Got cheaper TWS ear buds instead.
Killing it lately Jeff! This is a useful video for those wondering whether the jump to the latest buds is worth it - but based on what I've heard from you and others who've tried the Galaxy Buds, they're a no brainer.
I opted for the S10e so won't get these as a freebie, but I'll still pick some up to see what the fuss is about.

Icon x 2018 are worth hanging on to they are still a comfortable fit and you get the extra storage still look pretty premium too with great sound .

Great video from the headphone King I had the gear iconx and for me the pairing was terrible also very uncomfortable the sound was good and the battery was average I'm looking forward to trying the Galaxy buds to see if they compared with the airpods

I paid $135 online free shipping for icon x 2018
My Icon X had serious problem with gunking up the membrane behind the mesh-filter. Had to change them as soon I wore them for any longer time, ended up removing the membrane from the mesh-filter. Also found the sound a lot better after that, had trouble getting the treble stand out with the membrane there. Not that this helped since they soon stopped understanding when they are in the ear or not and are now unusable. The Buds are so far is delivering a much better sound and experience.

Yes same with my iconx. they pair up when the case is closed, all the time and the right ear bud only produces 10% of the sound it did originally, literally! Throwing the icons away once I get the galaxy buds

@@devonblake6934 Yeah that's just because of wax build up on the inside, try cleaning the mesh cover on the inside or removing it all together.

I actually answered this question in my full review. No video latency on Android devices in my testing. Slight latency on iOS devices when using the TH-cam app. There is noticeable latency on both platforms when playing mobile games.

I had the IconX for over a year and loved them although I did not use them frequently but my husband recently borrowed them, paired them with his iPhone 8+ and decided to keep them. I just got the Galaxy Buds and so far they are fabulous! He will truly enjoy the higher volumes and better base of the IconX and I think the Galaxy Buds will be even better for me.
If and when the second gen Airpods come out, do u plan on doing a comparison video between those and the Galaxy Buds since their Android connectivity is what really puts them in contention with the Airpods...?

No, Huawei can't charge it because it only has 3W charging rate,totally useless. S10 has 9W charting rate and about 75% efficiency. Way better
