I did NOT expect this one but I'm so glad it's here! Kacey is magical. A lot of modern pop country presents a very glamorized, whitewashed version of country living.... which has a place, sure, but Kacey tells it like it is: a little ridiculous and over the top and full of drama. Not so much in this song - this one's mostly candy, but I love it - but in her others like Merry Go Round, Biscuits, Step Off, etc.
She grew up listening to her grandpa's country albums. She's fed up with "Bro Country" and trying to bring back the more traditional story-telling type of Country music back.

I know Kacey sounds like country pop. But there are some things which set her apart first she writes her own music second she sings about topics not often discussed in country pop. Ie homosexuality, drugs etc. Plus her songs have meaning. Serious content discussed in a country pop package.
