I was the 2nd engineer on this record way back in 92 at Criteria Studios in Miami, FL (and did Eternal with them a few years after that). They were super cool to work with and Alex was both a monster dude and drummer.
Then I owe you a huge debt of gratitude, as this STILL is one of my all-time favorite death metal albums. A total game-changer
Eternal is such a great record , terribly underrated too , in my opinion one of the best death metal albums
Retribution was a milestone in Death Metal one of my favs.

Seeing this in my feed brought a huge smile to my face. This album, Retribution, has one of the single greatest & most underrated Death Metal drum performances of ALL TIME. Alex Marquez was on fire on this CD, and the tones of his kit & the mix helped showcase it even more. Everyone talks about Reinert on Human, but people forget just how good Alex was on this album. Thank you, Delta...I hope tons of people who have never heard Retribution go & check it out now!

Yeah he was good but come on, Reinert is on another level and was already at the time this was released. Human showed it already and after Focus, no need for further proof
True. But it was a massive shame that Marquez performed very sub-par on Malevolent Creation's following album "Stillborn"

Alex is one of my all time favorite drummers. You nailed it. Great song also. Now do something off of Exhorders “The Law” album please. Chris Nail was the modern drummer of the year because of that album in 1992. Awesome drum tracks on that album.

Another great album from this era was Athiest's Piece of Time. I'd love to see what you can do with what Steve Flynn recorded. Kelly Schaefer once said that their style was death jazz lol 😁.
