My favorite tag team hands down. I loved the Road Warriors, but the Fabs were who I was rooting for. Especially against the Warriors, RNR Express, Sheepherders, and Moondogs. I was living in Memphis in the early 80s watching mid-south wrestling as a boy.
Skinner, the Stalker (Barry Windham), Terry Gordy & Captain Lou Albano as the manager/ mouth piece would've been a great faction! 80s/90s version of the Wyatt's!
Skinner was an awful gimmick but it was to Keirn's credit that he made it last longer than it should have because he actually was pretty good. And you don't judge a shoot on how big a name someone is, it's far more important to think of of the dressing rooms the guy was a part of and how much he is willing to reveal.

When he talked about WWF I thought about how he almost became the WWF champion. When Vince Sr. was thinking about the next long term WWF champion he asked his buddy Eddie Graham to recommend someone. The two guys he recommended were Keirn and Bob Backlund. I think Keirn not only would have been a good champion, but he probably would have been their first crossover star due to his good looks and the fact that he would have been wrestling in New York, which is the media capitol of the world
Steve Keirn seems to be not only a legit bada$s in and outside the ring but also a kind , down to earth , and humble man that like I say you just didn’t want to make mad ... thanks ... GOD BLESS !!!
Steve Keirn was a great worker. That Damn Skinner gimmick was a disgrace. The Fabulous Ones with him & Stan Lane were one of the best tag teams of all time. I watched him in Georgia & Florida a lot before the Fans he was a great worker almost was in Backlunds spot.
How was it a disgrace? Vince wanted him to do something different than being a Fabulous One or an unidirectional technical wrestler, Keirn himself said he had a lot of fun doing it.
I loved the fabulous ones... But I feel like Steve and Bobby Eaton was a cool team also. Bad Attitude. I feel like they should have been bigger than WCW made em.
Skinner was a bad idea . I don't know if a middle aged balding guy could have gotten over at all in the WWF at that time but a guy totally covered in street clothes and dripping tobacco juice is a loser anywhere .
Actually Skinner was a fantastic idea, particularly because Keirn was getting older and wasn't a "Fabulous one" anymore. The character was based on his love for hunting, and Keirn himself said he had an absolute blast doing the gimmick.
I see all of these Skinner and Doink comments but no one seems to be old enough to remember The Fabulous Ones, one of the best tag teams of the 1980s!
That's the legacy of the WWF's "Cartoon Era".

That's what kills me about everyone calling Vince McMahon a genius. Vince has has so many bad ideas (like "Skinner") that people forget about.
Skinner just needed good storylines and fueds. Skinner could have fueded with Henry O Godwin or Triple H in 1995 easily.
