I saw Wanderlei a few years ago at Montreal's airport. I clapped as wh passed somewhat close to me and he was very kind to walk towards me and shake my hand. We didn't speak but he smiled and seemed happy to greet a fan. Wanderlei will always be an MMA legend.
I miss this era of MMA. All these guys got me into the sport. Splitting the cost of every ppv with friends and hanging out on Saturday nights. I miss those times

I've always said that he was more concerned about not getting KO'd than he was about actually winning. But u can see that whenever he closed the distance, and let his hands go he got the better of the exchanges. Had he fought like the old Wanderlei he probably would've knocked Chuck out...Or Chuck would've knocked him out. lol. Either way there definitely would've been a finish.

UFC now is too much like High level Kickboxing... Most fighters are super polished and are technical strikers and super skilled grapplers... Back in these days when small town US high school wrestling stars older Brazilian Brawlers grew up and became theie local bar's toughest guys, got in the octagon To prove themselves....
