@@Infinitefuture6 He might have been but if so, everyone else was too. But I actually doubt he was on stuff simply because he's got a similar physique today. This is 12 years ago btw. Of course he wouldn't look exactly the same today but he's not far off. But then again, it wouldn't shock me if he took a little trt and hgh. Everyone's still on shit so it cancels out.
i love gsp but there is a reason he never pushed hard to make the silva fight happen but instantly wanted to fight bisping… prime silva was a nightmare matchup
Both were nightmare match-ups for each other but given Silva's takedown defense and submission offense and GSP's ability to take the fight to the ground and CONTROL it, GSP definitely had the technical advantage on paper, IMO. The big difference was definitely Andy's size and range. If both were the same size, I rely think GSP, on a technical level, is a worse match-up for Anderson than Anderson is to Georges
@@gg0131 Bro a young, prime, pre-conversion Rory was one of the most intense, aggressive, physically strong & technical fighters ever to grace the octagon. Nothing but love & respect for his finding Jesus, but no doubt it removed that sort of sadistic, almost evil mentality he used to overwhelm his opposition with.
One thing I love about GSP is that he was so consistent, against not only elite fighters but especially against very different styles. He fought solid wrestlers in Jon Fitch, Matt Hughes and Koscheck, BJJers/Grapplers with strong chins in Jake Shields and Nick Diaz, versatile fighters in Dan Hardy, BJ PENN or strikers, who differed in their approach, like Thiago Alves, which was the typical aggressive and muscled Muay Thai/Kickboxer but also longer, rangier, sniper strikers like Condit here.
GSP was the undisputed MMA GOAT from the period 2017-2023, we've never seen Dana White call him "GOAT" him or DJ, but when it comes to Jon, Dana can call him the GOAT for like 469 times and he doesn't expect fans being annoyed from it. The Glazing Dana is doing on Jon is what's annoying, like we get it, Jon is the GOAT, he said that hundreds of times, like he's being biased so much towards him that he also defends him from haters even tho Dana was never on the side of any fighter and his fans or against any fighter and his haters, a real promoter should mind his own business, like ffs!
The GOAT is who the fans say is the GOAT. Joe Rogan and Dana White want you to think they get to decide they don't, it's up to us the fans and we still say GSP is the GOAT Jon Jones is a CHEATAH.
My first ever UFC event I watched on PPV. Prior to the fight, I had only ever heard of martial arts being referred to in the traditional sense. Stand-up striking like karate, kickboxing, boxing, etc...watching Georges shoot those well-timed takedowns was eye opening. But that third round! All the adults around me (I was 11 at the time) talked about Georges like he was superman, that he was untouchable. Up to the moment of that kick, he looked and fought the part, but Condit gave him a real run for his money. My dad was so disappointed that night. Despite being Canadian, he was the only one rooting for the Natural Born Killer. Good memories.
Personal take here: Once upon a time I was bummed out that Mike Goldberg got cut as a commentator. Now, listening back, I'm glad he's gone. Holy shit is his commentary fucking horrific.
Ditto. The longer it's been since he got cut the worse he sounds now watching old fights. Most of the time he's rambling about some completely irrelevant sh-t. Anik is so much better in that role.
He was always more of a nostalgic voice and character from his presence throughout the history of the UFC, rather than an objective quality commentator. Kind of like that sub-par meal or food you still like, because you had it as a kid.
NBK is def one of my fav fighters with gsp of course, so close so many times, lawler hendricks and gsp. Still one of the best ufc productions if you havent checked out Ufc primetime 3 diaz vs condit do it!!!
It's almost refreshing that Condit is so oldschool at the bottom. Most fighters would focus on stading up even if they have to give up their back other than someone like Crone Gracie Obviously.
I don’t think GSP was the same after the leg injury. He doesn’t look the same level as a striker as he did before and his entry’s don’t seem as fast. I think Koscheck 2 was the best he ever looked.
