Great tutorial I have been trying to make a QSL card for a while, a small tip for others, if you find that the edges of your QSL are chopped off quite a bit when printing, select in your printing menu "shrink to fit" this will fit everything you have done on the QSL card without affecting the card size noticeably.
Thanks for getting me started. It was a bit frustrating at first, but after working with the app over a few evenings, I could probably whip a design out in a couple of hours now.
Great tutorial, HRD ! You've given me plenty of ideas to kick-around for my own. GIMP looks to be a great cut-down and more intuitive version of early Photoshop. May try that too ! 73s .
i am trying to use a picture that does not fit the entire width and height of the area is there a way to change that so i can use it as i=my background? thankyou!
Good to hear it peaked your interest. Until I made my own qsl cards, I only ever recieved one card. When I finally made my own and started sending them out oh, I recieved a bunch in return. Now it's kinda fun.
This is a site I have used in the past when I need to make a quick QSL card. You can import a picture for the background and build around it. www.radioqth.net/qslcards
I really enjoyed your video and since then this week designed my QSL card front using GIMP. The card looks great. I am, however, having difficulty designing the back of the card for the QSO information. Seems like GIMP is very cumbersome on doing simple things like designing a form box for the information. Would it be easier to design the back of the card using Word or something and save in JPG and paste it into GIMP? Would appreciate any help with this, or maybe a new video on this aspect LOL.
@@HAMRADIODUDE Yes I want to put all the QSO info including rig and antenna used along with my name, address, county, grid, CQ Zone and ITU Zone numbers on the back of the card.
@@HAMRADIODUDE Help.....if you get a few minutes free and could whip up a quick guide to putting the info below on the back of the card, I sure would appreciate the help..
Dude nice QSL card. I know I have to watch it many times. Now can you use it for all your log books. Sending LOTW. I still have that to do. You do make it look easy. Not long ago you wanted my email address, for some thing I would want to do. So I hope you remember. Some times my thinking is not right, ADHD,PTSD and Delicia 73 KQ4CD Paul
Where can I get 5.5x3.5 glossy card stock? I've looked but haven't been able to find it.

Just found this and love it. Have a bunch of 4x6 photo paper and now I know what to do with it all.

Great video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Where can I get a font with a slash through the 0? Thanks! AC0AE

Gimp is great software, but can be complicated for new users. I think you did a great video on how to use it for QSL cards. 73 W2CHZ
