    Love this idea. I trim alot of palm trees and would live to have this to drag them to a central location closer to where I could chop them up. Everything you added is perfect except I would make the pulling handle a little higher so I would not have to bend over as much and maintain the center of gravety on a heavy load. I would need to make mine so I could breakdown the cart for I use my handtruck for many applications. I would live to learn how to weld but watching videos is not as good as having a teacher. Keep designing on the fly like we both do. Love your channel.

    I know chippers are expensive but you have a lot of room at your new place. You could mulch all of your brush from tree cutting right into your dump trailer and instead of 2-3 or more loads to dump your brush you could do it all in one and dump at your house and compost your chippings to amend your soil for gardens and such. You would be (one and done) with brush so to speak. It would just be another piece of equipment to haul around.

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aside from adding another piece of equipment to haul and maintain, I'm with ya man: it would be faster, easier, and better to chip. So it's on my list ... you're not the first guy to recommend one! haha I guess I'm a late adopter :)

    Awe vid as always. Cook and neat idea. If you made much taller it would tip over too easy. Slight bend on the handle would be nice too. I would add a stop collar on your extension piece so you can pull or push it to the stop and then pin it. We made an extension on a trailer to haul long plastic pipes and that made it super simple to find the hole for the pin.

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A stop collar! Yes, great idea and thanks for that. It's exactly what I need along with the slight tweak to the handle. Thanks

    Good build, I've never seen or heard of a tree trolley before. I could have used something like that when I'd haul branches down to the beach across a road for the 4th of July bonfire every year. I did the indian travois thing most of the time. By the time I was done most fires would be about 1 1/2 telephone poles high & people would come from miles down the lake just to see my fire. Good times.

    Hey man, Pretty awesome stuff, thanks so much! Think this is a great idea for fence building and am going to try something like this out to take a load off the daily lumber haul.. I used to build fences myself and the cart came in SUPER handy. Huge time saver. Yeah, you should be able to bolt something together without much trouble. Modifying a gorilla cart might work for ya too. Hang in!

  • @douglasthompson2740
    @douglasthompson2740 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks like it might be advantageous to have a third wheel forward on your cart. If the load got too heavy you could let the wheel take the weight and just pull it instead of lifting. I know it is balanced but there always seems to come that time where it is heavier than you want.

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear ya! If not perfectly balanced that cart can get very front-heavy. But with that said, it's super navigable with the two wheels. Definitely a workhorse!!

  • @rudyfisher7660
    @rudyfisher7660 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another good reason for bending the arm up is like you just said about the back arm sliding out and touching the ground when you lift up on it if you've been the front arm up your only picking it up just a little bit and going forward with it then you won't have to drag you back in

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. I love that idea and will have to fun with it. Just a few inches up would make a real difference. Thanks!

    It might be better if u put a slight bend upwards on the extendo arm to keep the rear from dragging while ur hauling it. Just a thought. Great vid as usual. I see the bed is off the new truck.

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You idea to bend it up has been echoed by a few others, so I'll have to do it. Good spot on the truck! New video on that project coming soooonish :)

  • @jason328d6
    @jason328d6 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Cool build. Did you consider turning the last 25% of the exstendo arm up at an angle so you could have the length with out dragging while at full tilt? Or could raise your handle up closer to your natural carry point, resulting in a more level cart? Again nice work Mr.

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      After a few tests I made that tweak and the cart flows a lot better. It's a back and life saver! Thanks man

    • @smileymcface1814
      @smileymcface1814 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m looking into following this build. What tweak did you make? Angling the rear extendo-arm or angling the handle?

  • @ThrottleStopRacing
    @ThrottleStopRacing 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    See if you follow this. The tail is dragging on the ground when you pick up the handle, and when you do so the whole cart is slanted to the rear. If you raised the starting position of the handle (Spacer between the rear connection of the tow handle to the cart)). When you pick up on the handle the cart would be closer to level and the rear extension would be further off the ground???

    • @metaspencer

    • @metaspencer

  • @mollybankhead5865
    @mollybankhead5865 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That’s a cool trolley. Very handy! I guess you could put a slightly upward slanted section right at the end of the extendo-arm to make it not drag and get even more length/support in the back...
    I waited all summer for bus videos... what’s going on with the bus?

    • @metaspencer
      @metaspencer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That little bend in the handle is a great idea! If it keeps dragging I'll have to take your idea and run with it. Here's your bus update: I finished tile and did a few little things with it this summer, partly while staying in it during a short quarantine after taking a trip. So it's been a great space to hang out in. The batteries haven't been charging right so I noticed I lost a belt ... alternator. So not being able to reach the belt I dropped it off at "my guy who fixes buses" and it's been there a few weeks. So that's it: nothing much to report. It's just "the bus!" :)

    Should video on "everything I need to start welding" a culmiation of your journey. I know you dont like making "how to videos" due to the increasingly litigous nature of modern society, but that is how most of us watch videos, to learn stuff and see how other people solve problems.
