Hi Hugo! Got me a M8.2. Great cam. Already own a M2, M6 and M240. Changed from the "heavy brands" to Leica because of quality and weight! My grandpa was already a Leica IIIb shooter back in 1932. Love yr Channel. Keep on going! Greetings from Switzerland!
Hi 62smarty, you have a good colection. I envy you ;-) I see is a passion who comes from your grandfather, and this is beautiful. Thanks for your comment!
The m8 is really a great camera! i think it is overlooked today! thanks for sharing this with us. i also just bought a digital M after shooting the last year only film
Nice video’s. Thanks!. Also bought a Leica M8 recently. Although I have bought a Leica Q earlier this year (for far more money) I seem to enjoy the M8 more. Picture quality is great.
Thanks for another nice video! You seem like someone I would really like to have a coffee with, and talk about photography and life with a slightly philosophical approach. Keep having fun with your M8 and enjoy life! :-)
The day I bought my Summicron, in reality I went to the shop to buy the Voigtlander 50 1.5, but they offer me second hand in perfect condition the Leica 50 and I bought it. But this Voigtlander 50 seems to be great. I like a lot my Voigtlander Nokton 35 1.4, is the perfect lens for the M8.
Nice video. I also finally bought a Leica M8 last week and I'm getting used to its limitations. The IR issue is not a big one for me as it only affects very limited situations in everyday shooting. It is very similar to shooting film. I don't push the sensor higher than ISO 320 as it doesn't give me any advantage besides of heavy unpleasant noise. I try to hold it really steady in low light at about 1/15 sec or 1/11, sometimes 1/8 and slower but that's hard. You have to be disciplined to get great shots with the M8 and also very accurate in focusing but when you get what you wanted it is very satisfying. This camera delivers great colors and images when you learn how to use it right. It also can't replace my M5 which I also love to shoot.
I hope you enjoy your new m8, is a really inspiring camera as you know. You are brave and with a very steady pulse, but you are right, sometimes is necessary to do it like this, and with patience. I also avoid 640, only sometimes, when the circumstances are nor peaceful enough to take all the time is required.
Hello and thank you. Yes, filter is necessary to ensure blak´s don’t look magenta. Not always happens and some persons don’t find it necessary. I had a old Leica filter and I use it (is not in the lens during the video)
Your video inspired me to buy the M8.2 camera. I am totally new to using Leica! Thank you. My budget only allows up to £1000 for a lens. Should I get the new Voigtlander Nokton 1.2 40mm because I doubt the money won't cover the nice Leica lens you have.
Thanks to you! I hope you like the camera ...I think you will. From the three lenses I have, the Voigtlander nokton 35 1.4 is the one I use the most. The 1.2 seems to be amazing, but is not a small lens.
Thanks for the answer Paul. They don't suffer the sensor corrosion, but I had the problem with the shutter, it broke and I had to send the camera to Leica.
I have two Leicas M8 for more than 10 years yet and I do not have any problems with any of both cameras. Never I delivery to Leica for repair. Only suffer about dirty sensor that I need to process with photoshop for remove the sports when I shoot in apertures 11, 16, 22. But don't have any problems. I am very happy with them. I have a Leica digilux3 too and I never I have any problem.

It is! I'm glad I bought it three years ago. I hope you enjoy your digital M

Thank you Paul! there is something about this camera.. I never get tired of it. Just hold it is inspiring.
Good examples and very good reasoning behind the video👍
Thanks, Im happy to hear it.

Is a very nice message, thank you very much! ...Life, photography, philosophy... everything is connected. May be one day we have this coffee!
Nice thoughts, I have come to the same situation and bought myself a Fuji x100 original and loving the simplicity and quality with only 12 mp.
I perfectly understand you.
I totally feel you, bro! Great video... What‘s your opinion on the Voigtländer 50 mm f 1.5 Nokton as an alternative to the Summicron?

My Leica M8 Totally understandable... Thank you!

I’ve noticed a thumbs up helps to hold it steady. Also a soft release will help to hold it steady while taking a shot.
Thanks for the information, a thumbs up seems to be good for this camera.
Hi HugoDo you know if the top plate of the m8 is brass or aliminium?-C
Hello Hugo, you need an IR Filter for for new 50mm? I like your video's

Amen! I can’t agree more! Love my m8 for the same reasons!
Great! Thanks ;-)
Mui bien Hugo! Very well said.

Do you have Instagram or Flickr?
Yes, instagram: hugandas
Do these cameras suffer from sensor corrosion like the M9's?
No, it does not. There were some problems with the shutter of some models. That got fixed with the m8.2. But then you lose the 1/8000 shutterspeed.
Thanks for the answer Paul. They don't suffer the sensor corrosion, but I had the problem with the shutter, it broke and I had to send the camera to Leica.
Sensor seems to have no corrosion problem. But the shutter in my camera broke and i send it to Leica. And they made a great job.

Being a new M8 owner, I've watched your videos. What is the half case you are using? I like the idea of the back cover to protect the LCD. Thanks!
Is a Luigi Crescenci leather case, the cheapest available, but very good quality. Provides grip and mostly protects the screen
Thank you very much! Happy shooting!
I had trouble relaxing into your video, with the clicking of the lens.
Malcolm Cragg, Yes, sorry for that. Thanks for the comment
got it on point - less is more!
do you still have the M8? still happy with it? using it as before?
gracias

Yes I do, and enjoying it every day more. Thanks for comment!
After you clicked the lens hood back for the hundred'th time, I switched off. Bloody irritating.
Yes, there are some things to improve in the videos, I know

This is love ;-) ...This fuji x100 is always a temptation.
