    This series was probably one of the best, most encapsulating, "beginning-to-end" hunts ever produced. It didn't take hours of viewing to understand the persistence, the friendship, the outdoors, the reward, the suck, and, again, the reward.
    Well done!

    You captured the brutal part of hunting very well. Rain, snow, wind, cold, waiting, glassing, scouting, stalking.. it's all part of the hunt... but so is hauling the prize out to your truck! Most young anxious hunters don't have a frigging clue how tough it is to haul the meat back to their vehicles. lol Thanks for this great video. Great job on the hunt!

    Yunno, that was totally awesome! You guys see no freakin' elk for days, the weather sucks. You walk out on to the dang moon and find 3 tracks and you track them down and kill the biggest bull, who just happens to be a 7x6 donk, in his bed!! Really, really impressive! And who even knew that Jack Black liked to hunt? What a surprise!! Mega Congratulations!!

  • @waynewithers5529
    @waynewithers5529 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Nice work, Its hard finding the needle in the haystack let alone getting a good shot opportunity out there. In my experience they usually bed higher up where they can see. They must have been pretty confident in that spot. I was able to fill a tag following fresh tracks. Its an awesome way to do it if the conditions are right. If they aren't pressured they don't go to far, but if they get pushed don't bother they will go farther than you can walk in a day.

    That was a great episode; one of my favorite Fresh Tracks episodes in a long time. To say that you earned that bull the hard way in an understatement. Most hunters would have given up after two days of seeing almost nothing. The fact that you stuck it out is what got you that elk. While I watched the video, my first thought was that the pack out is going to really suck, and it did. I can't say that I have any hunting buddies that would help me get that critter out of there if I would have shot it down in that hell hole, so it is an understatement how much Marcus helped out.

      We have unit 46-1 right now and have only seen 1 herd and it was running hard. We are stumped and have driven hundreds of miles and sometimes hours and only a few miles. We have walked ridges, canyons and more ridges in unit 47 and haven't seen a single elk. We did see a helicopter running some deer herds and land on a huge private area so that was discouraging and kind of put a damper on the "coveted" hunt😔 we were told a certain outfitter owns that massive area and produces many successful private hunts we can now see why! Thanks for showing how the work paid off, God bless and I will continue to watch when we get done hopefully with a filled tag and meat in the freezer.

    Congratulations. That was a great effort. Everyone needs a hunting partner like Marcus. Pack your elk out of a canyon and make you dinner in the same night. That guy is an all star hunting buddy.

    Great job fellas....hard work and perseverance pay off! Congrats on a heck of a bull Micheal. That looked like a hell pack out from that canyon...just remember pain is temporary and memories last forever. Public land DIY is the ONLY way to go!!!

      Did 80% of the work packing and cutting...then leave the cape...lol rookie.

      Leave the cape over a 1.5 mile pack on semi flat ground? Loved the video but the ranting over the “hell pack out” was a little over the top.

    What a bull Michael, congrats! I am reminded of what Randy has often advised, "Go where people are not likely to go, and farther out of the way". Following those tracks was the only option you had left and you can't get much fresher than they were unless you were watching the elk make them..... At crunch time I was laughing and getting impatient watching you fiddle fart around getting ready but you have already stated you are working on that LOL. Great follow up shot, it was good that he gave you that opportunity. Initially the angle did not appear to be all that steep, then we got to see it from below......holy moly what a shot.

    Thank you so much for your content on this hunt and all of the others this season and past. What a hump to get that bull out. Way to pull a needle out of a haystack. I hope that you have no regrets on not getting the cape. The work truely started when you pulled the trigger.....the second time. Been there done that, the second trigger pull that is!!!!
