What a woman. These woke women kids need to pay attention to these historical stories. These women are beyond strong beyond resilient dealing with the rampant, sexism bullying. This was the 14th century there was no Internet. There is no supports nothing. And look at this woman have to contend with, and she survived and thrived. It’s unbelievable she was remarkable woman. Thank you, John, these are these wonderful nuggets of stories that you pull through. Thank you.

For a woman to survive being written out of history she must have been one compelling character

My grandfather was born in German-speaking Tyrol in the 1880s, and he was proud of his history. He would never stand for this phenomenal woman being slandered. Have you ever noticed how often men (royal or otherwise) are defined by their accomplishments, while women are defined by their appearance? Even Queen Christina of Sweden can be subjected to this lack of respect.

Another interesting person I never heard of. Being an aristocratic woman certainly was fraught with danger.

I love the fact that you did a video on this little known medieval female ruler. Margaret is a fascinating woman leader in the 1300s.

All these little dynastic wars, bad news for the peasants. Ever thus, that powerful women suffer from slander. Thank you Jon.

Ugly Duchess?? Her portraits are quite flattering imo..Now, Elisabeth of Corinthia,Margaret's aunt, well..that's a different story.@3:56 The huuuge Emerald Necklace she's wearing, I've seen that in 19th and 20th century portraits of one of the Grand Duchess of the Romanovs and then a daughter or granddaughter of Queen Victoria wearing that same exact necklace. Either it was a designed replica or that big ass Emerald Necklace was passed down through Germany qnf Habsburg maybe? generations and ended up in the hands of the British Crown Treasury.....Anyhow. It's too bad men still use physical appearance to discredit women of politics but (tho it's mostly still perpetuated by one man who hopefully will give up ) i.e. . "Nasty Woman" Doubt I need to say his orange name

@History Roadshow Perhaps she just wasn't photogenic 🤔 the film must have taken weeks to develop in the 13th century and no problem I'm a huge fan, I love your vids
Edit: I've become obsessed trying to find the random Royal or Queen Victoria's 9 children and like 30 granddaughters I KNOW I have seen that exact same Emerald Necklace it's like Where's Waldo but there's no 'cheat sheet' in the back!

Rough to try to be a female leader in any era but I can only imagine how hard those poor ladies had it back then in the 1300s...and on to the 20th century...it was so challenging to be taken seriously as a leader...

Could she have had this insulting nickname because she had smellier than normal bad breath for the time or uneven teeth? Or that she would answer back to the men in her life with insult with insult.
My mother didn't swear yet she has put many people in their place. Words can wound or belittle. BTW my mother was a gentle person unless you hurt anyone she cared for.
I am enjoying all these videos very much. Thank you. 🇦🇺☺️♥️
