Hey man, I'm not sure how active you are on TH-cam now but I recently bought a raptor 660 carb. I've been looking around forums to find info on jets and whatever adjustments are necessary. What did you end up doing? Thanks!
This is a really great video and It inspired me to do the same thing with my bike I’ve already bought a 660 carb and a few other things to make it happen, just waiting on parts in the mail my only question is what size jets did you use? I looked at forum online and he used 155 mains and 27.5 pilots but he had a few problems with it being to rich. Also a update video on the bike would be great I would love to see how figured out the air box problem
That thing looked like night and day compared to your first vids with this bike. My stock YDIS carb was corroded and most of the jets/screws had been stripped. It looks like this is my only reasonable option now., especially when a new unit is $50? Anyways, besides the choke cable and new throttle pull was this swap pretty straightforward? Did you have to play around with jetting or anything that much?
There's a little bit of minor modifications have to make but nothing major it's a pretty easy swap I have a video on my TH-cam channel that it had to do with the carb boots. And yes I had to completely change the jetting. The swap was well worth it for sure
@@zell666hell Well, good news. I have started and ran my bike a couple times with the raptor carbs. It isn't running great, though. I had the same problems with the petcock, but finally got some pod filters that could fit in that tiny space. Anyway, I was wondering if you remember what jetting you ended up at? I understand it wont be the same for me but I'm a carb newbie and looking for a baseline. Thanks again!
Hey mate, I just bought the 660 carb setup. what throttle and throttle cable did you use. Also what Air filter did you end up going with??. Can u please post the links if you can, would be a great help
Maybe I'll luck out and this will work, but do you think this same carb would work on a 83 XT550? The stock carb is getting to be a pain to find parts for. Cheers!
Awesome video!! Great work on the bike!! Big Win! I think I have read that this is an option to do on the XT550. I think I will have to try it as $200+ dollar for those YDLS carbs in broken shape off of ebay doesn't seem like a deal. The 600 and the 550 are almost the same engine shouldn't be any reason why it shouldn't work. What do you think? Again great work on the bike, any ideas on what to do about the airbox/filter issue. Look forward to more update videos.
I don't know enough about the 550 to know if it'll work but good chance it will. I completely remove the stock air box and just use two inch diameter radiator hose then cone filters on the end. I have another video on my TH-cam channel of modifying the intake boots. Glad you enjoyed the video I might make more when the weather warms up it's too cold here to ride right now.
@@zell666hell Thanks for the reply! I think I might try getting the Raptor 660 carbs. It will be sometime out, but I will remember to update you if it works out for me. Defiantly post more riding videos or bike walk around videos when you get the chance.
I know definitely huge Improvement on the bottom end and pulls pretty strong through mid and decently in the upper. Doesn't rev any higher though. so I definitely feel the biggest Improvement is in the bottom and mid-range although I haven't had it dynoed.
I have an 85 xt600 hundred. and deal with the same carburetor issues everyone does with this motorcycle. and i bought one of those $200 rusty ebay YDLS csrburetors too lol what year raptor did the carburetor come off?
Ahmmm.. you didn't really push it that much... you'll feel the difference up on top rpms as well! It's a year later...You should give us an update on the whole bike! :p If it starts from cold without choke it means that your fuel mix is still too high!
@@zell666hell hey what adjustments did you have to make to get it to run I just did this mod and when I give it alittle under half throttle it’s sputters then opens wide open and try’s to kick me off

did you need to make any adjustments or adjustments for it to work? improved the final speed too?

that's way too much! you need 137.5's and 22.5 pilots! Main jets depend on your air filter element as well...

Hi mate. I’m doing this conversion just now and wondered what sizes of jets you ended up using? Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.Pat.

The stock 600s and 550s will. Alot is in the gearing though. My stock 550 you cant crack it wide open in the low gears.

How did you repair seat
And what is the difference between this carb you installed and the stock one? How does it make it faster?
really wat size jets should i use on it
22.5 to 25 small jet and 140-145 for main jet I think if you want to use your original airbox and air filter
