At mine, the lowest price they have anymore is $3.99! I told a worker that several items were from the dollar store for $1, and now the thrift store was charging FOUR times as much?? I walked out.
Right! They are literally the only true thrift store with thrift store prices! I'm in Cincinnati so I'm a 3-3.5 hr drive one way and I'm ready to book a hotel for 2 days just so I can go each day. Place is HUGE

Great thrifting/DIYing! I expect your bras trick didn't work b/c the brass was lacquered to prevent the kind of corrosion you were trying to get from the treatment. Your solution was perfect. Love all the projects but I'm most likely to try the marble tile plinth. Maybe!
The chair cushion strap hack 🤯 I buy pillow covers on Amazon and sew box corners in them to cover our Ikea chair pads but they’re always falling off. Now I can add straps!
You have such good resale stores. Our Goodwill would ask $ 10.00 for a vase simular. A while back on another show you should how to cover a marble ball with words on them, to a black marble look. You dipped it into a solution. Could you show that again or direct us to the show again.

I went to the St Vincent DePaul in Milford Oh (voted #1 in the city) and if you could see the amount of JUNK and DIY JUNK for the prices your jaw would hit the floor!! I was just there on Friday the 28th and have several pics of 😳🤯😵 items. So I honestly dont get it. Ive even been to the thrift stored close to Indian Hill(aka RICH RICH), Kenwood Mall (A Few miles from Indian hill & literally one of the only few verrry successful malls in midwest) so how can I be in an area with high end items but still find JUNK EVERY SINGLE TIME?!?! I know you hear it from everyone that watches you, so it HAS to be the frequency you go, location, and time of day. Also, I know Hartwell knows you by name and you plug the store, so they have to be holding items for you and/or special pricing tags just for items for you to help them gain traffic bc you plug their shop every video.
So for the first question, which from my understanding is how often I go to the thrift store? I usually go 1-2 times a week depending on what’s going on with my kids. In terms of finding the best thrift stores, i often have learned going to the #1 rated places are often crowded and hard to shop because they are disorganized. I also find that sometimes shopping in affluent areas, while you find really good stuff, it does come with a hefty price tag. I’m sorry you sound frustrated that you can’t seem to find any great pieces.

I love all of your upcycles. The chair cushion and chair, the mirror and glass hurricane find, the wall sconce upcycle, the blue vase upcycle amd the magnolia wreath find We are surrounded by magnolia trees. So I want to buy some silica gel to preserve a bunch to make a large wreath and 3 small ones to hang in my windows at Christmas.

What a unique idea to use a glass vase in the towel hanger! There is a product by Dixie Belle that makes a patina finish. You can choose a greenish patina or a bluish patina. Julie from Julie’s Designs and Signs used it a lot (and sells it). I think you would really enjoy creating with it. Check it out.
I wish I could find items like yours. They are beautiful. I heard if the salt and vinegar turns a brass pink it wasn’t really brass. I am not sure just a thought. That piece turned out beautiful.

I always find your videos inspiring and they make me want to head to my charity shop (as they call them here in Australia). The only problem is that our charity shop items are so much more expensive than yours and there isn’t always the great selection that you come across. Oh well, I’ll keep trying and hope to find some gems I can restore.
The “brass” wall candle holder wasn’t pure brass but brass plated copper. The salt vinegar essentially removed part of the plating revealling the copper beneath. You see this sometimes with the ketchup method for cleaning brass - if it’s plated then the piece gets pink/red-ish tone as the copper is revealed
I love DIY's. Even if we can afford the store prices, it feels soooo much more of a joyful accomplishment to make something similar that belongs only to you that you can take pride in. I love some of the pieces I have bought....but I truly love the pieces I have made myself.
