I had eyelash yarn last year and finally thought to add regular yarn to work them together. I made a scarf for my granddaughter and it turned out great. It looked like fur. Great ideas and video. Thank you.
Additional tip? You can surface crochet on the eyelash yarn (if you don't know how to do this, where you want the yarn, just do your crochet in the back loops, and then crochet into those loops), and that works too!
I use eyelash yarn with some Amigurumi. I agree that using a strand of regular yarn with it helps! Also, make sure you're going "with the grain"... The eyelashes on the yarn "point" in a certain direction, depending on which end of the skein you're working from. You want the lashes to point in the same direction as your hook.
Jennifer, I'm so glad I found your site! I've crocheted for a while but never with novelty yarn. Being a craft hoarder i never turn down anything free.😁 A friend gave me TWO laundry baskets full of this yarn. Thought of making kids' hats but had no clue how to work with it. Thank you so much for this video!💕
Thank you for the tips. I love novelty yarn but I use it with a more regular yarn as you advised, or for accents. Another knitter advised to first crochet the project with a regular yarn and crochet the novelty yarn on top of the work. I haven't tried it though, so I'm not sure how that works out. Another question is how to connect the ends of some of those thick fluffy yarns. Someone advised to weave through both tails with a needle and a thread of similar color so that it wouldn't show. My problem with those yarns is to stop the ends. If I do it the traditional way, it makes those parts of the work look quite thick, and I think that it is better to sew them into the work as the yarn may unravel, sometimes.
AM USING A REGULAR YARN WITH THE NOVELTY COMPLICATED YARN...WILL SHOW IT ON TH-cam WHEN I FINISH MY PROJECT...OK....THAT'S MY NEW IDEA IF USING REGULAR YARN WITH NOVELTY YARN..... LIKE YOUR VIDEO.

your eyelash that you were using with the acrylic worsted weight yarn is a lion brand yarn fun fur prints(tropical). just letting you know. thanks for all the great tips in this video link.
Someone gave me as present. Didn't know what to do with it. Good idea to add another yarn. Thank you. Your videos give very clear instructions. 👍🏼 This yarn is called wicked Ostrich Knitting Yarn by Houseware Essentials.
Excellent video! I've only bought little remnant novelty yarns from the thrift store - and there are a lot of them. I think once most people finish these novelty yarns they give away the yarn that is left over. I am a quilter and one project I want to do is sew the novelty yarns on to a quilt top in a wondering over the quilt top for texture and added color. I love the idea of including worsted yarn with the novelty - I'm going to try that.
Thank you for the wonderful tips! I love your channel because you go beyond the project and really want to help as many ppl as possible. I would love to know where you got that beautiful multi colored wooden crochet hook?
I am using Bernat pipsqueak yarn for a blanket. I am trying to get the stitches back on the needles but I cannot see the stitches. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Any tips for working with this type of yarn in the round? Every time I've used it, the fluffy side always ends up on the inside of my stuffed animals 😣
THIS TYPE OF YARN IS VERY DIFFICULT TO USED..I WILL NEVER USE THESE TYPE YARN AGAIN....AM KNITTING FOR YEARS AND THIS IS THE MOST DIFFICULT YARN I EVER USE IN MY LIFE...TERRIBLE 😄😄😄😄😄
