Oh boy... This has to be the cleanest motor on a drillpress ever! Damn I really like your work brother! Looking forward part 3. Btw the italians joke was all good, and solo pretty true! (Hi from Italy) xD
I just showed this video to my partner (we are Electrical Engineers) and he was equally as impressed as I was. He renovates old electric fans and went to great lengths to point out your attention to detail. Looks like you are getting a following!
I lengthened my gear puller once by making new longer plates to go between the fingers and the star, flat bar-stock hand-drilled, hand-filed, and cut to length with a hack-saw. It worked, too! The tensile strength was sufficient to the pulling I needed it to do. (removing dry/rusty bearings from old snowmobile bogeys) As far as filler goes, it's your equipment and you're restoring it to your specifications, I'm just along to enjoy the Ride!
Your humor just kills me. Right up my ally. And if you're gonna bother doing something, best bother doing it right. I, for one, quite enjoy watching someone doing a proper job for once.
I just bought the same drill in Scotland and collect tomorrow, greatful you have made these videos, will save me a few headaches and broken screwdrivers 😂
I am used to seeing Canadian GE motors, but then again, I live in Canada! I did not know CGE exported their motors to other Commonwealth countries. Why not... Thanks for showing this nice restoration job! Daniel
Thanks Daniel. I don't think imports from Canada were very common. I think it happened because a canadian company bought out elliott and I guess they were already established here.
I must say that motor is gorgeous. I hear it run was a surprise and how smooth it run without nary a wobble is proof how ell things were made back 50+ years ago
great video, I got an old makita 6500b hand drill I got free from some lady cleaning out her garage. A far stretch from your drill press but I think you have inspired me to tear it down and put new life into it.
Amazing job dude ! Just finished watching the myford restore and the fact that you use filler and get into the details like making new label, it means to me you're a very good worker that cares about the product he's working on. Sorry for my English but again congrats and respect!
I'm glad you used body filler. Screw the trolls if they can't appreciate final detail. Love the channel, keep up the good work. Greetings from Florida, USA
When you were discussing the outrage in the comments, you should say, "some of you in outrage may be wondering why I am doing this.... well, because I can do whatever I want. I'll burn this thing in a fire pit if I wanted to."
People get so serious at times... Typically, they have never done any of this stuff to begin with and yet they tell everyone what they are doing is wrong. lol Anyways, fantastic video. I am learning a lot from them. You will definitely have thousands upon thousands of subscribers for sure.
If you're going to paint might as well prep! My guess from looking at the logos is that the motor is from the 70s, In the 80s I used to go to all the plants that made all these parts before free trade closed them.
For your bearing puller, You can use two parallel pieces of steel six in total cut to whatever length you need to replace the three adjustable sections.
I was already thrilled when this video came out, then that music at the beginning brightened my afternoon even more, damn i love rush, and damn i love the way you put filler everywere! My only concern is a copyright strike, hope it doesen't happen, the music you put in fit perfectly your contents and your style.
Haha, I'm amazed at how big it is already. Nah, Cickspring is on a different level from the rest of us. He cuts gears by hand, with files he makes by hand - that is epic.
Did you discharge the capacitor before handling it? If you did you should mention it so that people who don't know, will know that you can get a DEADLY shock from it. Thanks for sharing :) Great videos
Very Nice Job! Question... Does it matter how you re-wire the new Capacitor? I marked the old capacitor wires but my new capacitor is like yours and doesnt show markings on the leads.
I like your video style. Looks like you also started without a voice over, then used a crappy mic and then got a good one. I see the similarities haha!
You said you didn’t have the equipment to test the capacitor, though it looks like it is at fault you can test them with a multimeter after you discharge them. Is this not a good way of testing them?
Great vid.No I’m not going to be outraged at the use of filler. If you want it to look the best, then great. Its your machine.I would prob use it as well.Nice job.
I'm an auto body tech and I believe that if you wanna spread some filler then you should spread some filler, people can't do half the job you can man, keep up the good work man
Gud, its better to use some grease even if its a new bearing, remove the black plastic seal slowly grease it if not sufficient grease. Usually stock bearings don't usually have sufficient grease so meant it. while inserting bearing to any body apply very little grease to the body where bearing sits. Because next time when u remove it comes out easily. Rest everything was gud and do remember to put just 2 or 3 drops of oil inside bearing balls. Which mixes with grease. If ur grease is slightly oily then separate oiling is not required. In this case when u run ur motor it minimises the noise of the bearing.. Hope i have made u understand. Gud job. Let me c ur next video part 3.. If i hav got to suggest on any part i will.
Well, very impressive.but why you never used Washers and Spring washers with nuts, bolts and screws?they hold more firmly to the body of motor.(also "prevents"from"scratches")
No, not in this case. I'd guess that the stator, housing, and bearing races and flanges on both ends are all machined in alignment, so probably not the best idea to pull it all out even if you could. You only find out by trying though...
RAGE - Hi Geoff - I have spent my afternoon / evening enjoying and absorbing your fabulous videos, especially the lathe restoration. While your methods do occasionally have a 'cringe factor' (nice to see you bought a new gear puller!!!) by and large you work is very interesting. I was quite fascinated by your cast soldering? As for your use of filler - either way this does not phase me. I would have made attempts at a little panel beating or left some scars of its industrial heritage.
On mine or ours paint was applied over crud and is Positively Camouflage. In fact I was looking at hiring Time Team to do a dig to discover which model I had. In fact in ancient English GMB 541 907 / 531 was unearthed upon! David and Lily Reading England.
LIVE THE BONDO & body work. Heck yeah! It’s your motor & video. What about an old GE motor that doesn’t have screws on either end to take it apart. I want to replace power cord & can’t get inside.
How did you get around the copyright issues? Rush several times throughout the vid, one of my favorite albums. Should use Caress of Steel for some upcoming vids. A lot more raw Rush but also awesome.
I didn't. If the scanners pick it up and decide it's outside fair use, then any revenue from ads appearing on this video will go to the record company.
Could you let me know they paint types you used to achieve this? I have a Walker Turner bandsaw in pieces that requires painting and I am unsure what should be used. Thanks
Beautiful restoration videos as always! Is this the color that you used on your ML7 as well? I'm restoring a British miller and I need to paint it the same as my Myford but I do not have the paint code...
50hz I think. 3 phase is relatively easy to get as a residential customer. I don't know how much it is, but it's fairly common for workshop guys and farmers etc. to have three phase.
It really is a great video, and I enjoyed it loads, but sir, if you had to do this for a living, you would certainly starve. Mind you, no one I know could do this good a job. thanks for your hard work.
Oh boy... This has to be the cleanest motor on a drillpress ever! Damn I really like your work brother! Looking forward part 3. Btw the italians joke was all good, and solo pretty true! (Hi from Italy) xD
Cheers mate! I saw your workstation show up in one of your videos the other day. Man that's a sweet setup!
Thank you!!! :) I'll show more about that very soon :) Cheers!
@@BlackBeardProjects Nice to see here man, happy & loyal subscriber.

10/10 for the restoration but 11/10 for taking it one step further with the Rush music.
I really appreciate your attention to detail, excellent craftsmanship. Eagerly awaiting the follow-up videos on this project!
Excellent.
Big guns dropping by now... Dude your channel has gone nuts! Saw you got a shout out on Diresta the other day as well.
It's been complete overwhelming! Be prepared. You definitely go the extra mile, which I love.
Love the videos. Keep 'em up.
The sound of the motor starting and running at the end was very satisfying.
Love the inclusion of Canadian rock music on the Canadian motor rebuild. Really enjoying your channel.
Excellent work enjoying your filming style and still putting us normal shed dwelling restoration amateurs in the shade.
Thankyou Jim.
I must say that motor is gorgeous. I hear it run was a surprise and how smooth it run without nary a wobble is proof how ell things were made back 50+ years ago
I do understand when a man wants it right. And how right you want it is up to you. Beautiful job.
I love that you talk about the cutting wheels shattering as you're cutting without gloves 😂
As a side note, that voice-over info while the motor was spinning down was very nice editing.
Ok, tapping the masking tape with the mallet to trim it is a next level trick. Thanks for sharing.
That joke really caught me off guard! I love your videos and humor, both spot on. Keep up the great work!
Haha, thanks Charles.
great video, I got an old makita 6500b hand drill I got free from some lady cleaning out her garage. A far stretch from your drill press but I think you have inspired me to tear it down and put new life into it.
do it...

Love the attention to detail in this restoration series.
Top marks.
I'm glad you used body filler. Screw the trolls if they can't appreciate final detail. Love the channel, keep up the good work. Greetings from Florida, USA
Haha, thanks Galen. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the disgruntled comments!
Thank you for posting your videos and your sense of humour
Pete(Sydney underarm bowler)
FILLER!! GODDAMNIT!!!HOW COULD YOU DO THAT!!!!???
Your wish is my duty, because you are the master. Thank you very much for this Video.
🇨🇦 here, loving your videos! And great taste in music👍
i love the level of detail and style of edit, regards from england
Thanks Pig Box
It's your machine. I think it's up to you what you do. Make yourself happy.
When you were discussing the outrage in the comments, you should say, "some of you in outrage may be wondering why I am doing this.... well, because I can do whatever I want. I'll burn this thing in a fire pit if I wanted to."
Haha, yeah that's right. It's just a bunch of amateur videos made for a bit of a shared laugh.
People get so serious at times... Typically, they have never done any of this stuff to begin with and yet they tell everyone what they are doing is wrong. lol
Anyways, fantastic video. I am learning a lot from them. You will definitely have thousands upon thousands of subscribers for sure.
I was going to express my outrage at the body filler work till I saw the results. Nice work.
Excellent. No complaint about using Bondo. Looks fantastic.
Wow!! So much quieter. Makes me wanna pull my motor on my table saw apart now 😉
ty for replying im looking eagerly forward to the next instalment of the drill press
I like the Canadian music when putting together the Canadian motor.
Darnit! How am I going to watch all these videos? just somehow got here from an MS-DOS video. Of course, I've subscribed.
c ⇧: ⏎ cd cheers/stephen/

I have to ask, what do you do for a living? You might be the most thorough guy I've ever seen.
Draughtsman
Love the country-appropriate music!
Rush!
I was already thrilled when this video came out, then that music at the beginning brightened my afternoon even more, damn i love rush, and damn i love the way you put filler everywere!
My only concern is a copyright strike, hope it doesen't happen, the music you put in fit perfectly your contents and your style.
I'm sure it will happen. I try to use only small portions of music and make sure it's kind of relevant to the video.
Why isn't this channel way bigger - this is exactly what I was looking for.... love your work!! You're like Clickspring - but with tools lol
Haha, I'm amazed at how big it is already. Nah, Cickspring is on a different level from the rest of us. He cuts gears by hand, with files he makes by hand - that is epic.
Love the filler. That's hardcore. Ignore the haters. Thanks for the videos.
You are very good at restoring things.
Cheers Stalin
Loved the Italian joke, laughed so hard! Enjoying the project
Haha, Cheers Braz.
I first heard:'the motor is sitting on the beach' haha
Also, use as much filler as you want, your restorations are amazing
Thanks Remco
Did you discharge the capacitor before handling it? If you did you should mention it so that people who don't know, will know that you can get a DEADLY shock from it. Thanks for sharing :) Great videos
17:55 the rear case is not flat against the stator housing looks like.
I will damage the bearings very quick, and create a useless load on the motor.
No, it's fine.
Very Nice Job! Question... Does it matter how you re-wire the new Capacitor? I marked the old capacitor wires but my new capacitor is like yours and doesnt show markings on the leads.
Rush really setting the Canadian tone
I love the feeling of bashing in new bearings!
Absolutely stunning restoration.
Cheers Grim.
Excellent video. I learned a lot. Very nice restoration. I like your attention to detail, and choice of materials.
I subscribed.
Love the soundtrack.
Thanks Larry
Absolutely beautiful job
Taking a cheap shot at the Italians, nice going!
🇨🇦 thank you for using RUSH to musically represent Canada 🇨🇦
Justin Beiber, celine Dion, and Nickleback are all things we don't like to talk about
If your worried about a wire wheel leaving marks in bolts on a drill press ill definitely be keeping an eye on the land rover resto
I like your video style. Looks like you also started without a voice over, then used a crappy mic and then got a good one. I see the similarities haha!
you had to been the class clown and most likely to succeed in school....and your taste in music is fine by me..great series....
Great job and I appreciate the gags!
Thanks Will!
Make sure you use C3 clearance bearings; the slack makes is earier to tak eup temp rises AND more take up of axial loads.
Made in Canada motor, with 'Rush' playing. Sweet, eh?
Hmm, filler on the casing?! Yup, I would've done it too! Should look like NOS right?
You said you didn’t have the equipment to test the capacitor, though it looks like it is at fault you can test them with a multimeter after you discharge them. Is this not a good way of testing them?
I love your videos. Well done and great work on the restoration, thank you.
Thanks P Wise
these are the videos worth waiting for, great job, can't wait to see more
Thanks Cloudy.
Really good job on this vid.
Oh and on the motor refurb too
8:45 ... grinder is pretty clean. Smooth.
Yeah, It's only a couple of years old.
Great vid.No I’m not going to be outraged at the use of filler. If you want it to look the best, then great. Its your machine.I would prob use it as well.Nice job.
I'm an auto body tech and I believe that if you wanna spread some filler then you should spread some filler, people can't do half the job you can man, keep up the good work man
Great job. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the videos.
Thanks Mike
Nice motor restoration! Loved the humor!
Thanks Tom!

It does a vertical setup motor? Those are radial bearing.
Well, very impressive.but why you never used Washers and Spring washers with nuts, bolts and screws?they hold more firmly to the body of motor.(also "prevents"from"scratches")
Is it possible to extract the windings from the motor housing? Have one I was planning to powdercoat. Great video!
No, not in this case. I'd guess that the stator, housing, and bearing races and flanges on both ends are all machined in alignment, so probably not the best idea to pull it all out even if you could. You only find out by trying though...

Bearing NSK- Made in Poland. I feel pride : )
Nice work as always.
Cheers, thanks.
great video, its your drill press, do what you want with it!
great job! looking better than brand new

Hello,
when will part 3 be available?
Thank you and keep up the good work!
At least a week from now. Cheers
Correct direction after restoration?
The kitchen oven is how you dry motors, about 80 to 100c...qafter a trip though the dish washer as long as you don't use salt.
If youre not using a brass wire wheel id suggest one as they tend to be more gentle on the parts
Great work 👍🏼
Cheers Nicke!
No worries
Thought id help a mate from across the ditch ;)
LIVE THE BONDO & body work. Heck yeah! It’s your motor & video. What about an old GE motor that doesn’t have screws on either end to take it apart. I want to replace power cord & can’t get inside.
Really nice video. what are the specs of the motor, looks like a beast on a drill press
A great rebuild Geoff.
love your videos :)
hate the use of filler !!!

I didn't. If the scanners pick it up and decide it's outside fair use, then any revenue from ads appearing on this video will go to the record company.
The original paint was fantastic
Could you let me know they paint types you used to achieve this? I have a Walker Turner bandsaw in pieces that requires painting and I am unsure what should be used. Thanks
This paint is velspar TB300 enamel.
Beautiful restoration videos as always! Is this the color that you used on your ML7 as well? I'm restoring a British miller and I need to paint it the same as my Myford but I do not have the paint code...
No, it's a different shade. I always take a part off the machine and take it to the paint shop and get them to mix the new paint to match.
мужик конкретно заморочился, лайк однозначно
Loving your channel, great stuff!
Thanks Nick
Beautiful detailed work, wow!
Thanks Case
Do you have 60hz in NZ? The capacitor made me wonder though perhaps it doesn't matter that much, figured you had 230v/50hz (any 3ph?)
50hz I think. 3 phase is relatively easy to get as a residential customer. I don't know how much it is, but it's fairly common for workshop guys and farmers etc. to have three phase.
It really is a great video, and I enjoyed it loads, but sir, if you had to do this for a living, you would

loved it, nice bit of Rush, Canadian context?
Love Rush! And your video of course :)
Thanks Edje!
To hell with the haters. Filler is awesome stuff
Loving your videos, keep them up.
Cheers Chris
