Fanstoys been taking the fun out of transforming ever since Koot.
honestly, the transformation on this figure is one of my favorites, ive gotten to the point where i know it well enough that its super smooth. its definitely a bare to begin with, but if youre someone who likes flipping back and forth, and you like good engineering, you CAN get that enjoyment outta this guy. not to mention both modes are stunning beyond belief. in my eyes, this figure is a 9/10. a better waist swivel (especially w/ reference to the god-awful fanstoys stand), an ab crunch (somehow...), and less paint chipping would make it an easy 10. definitely my favorite figure in my collection

I've definitely come to think that FT's engineering sensibilities and futuristic-altmode post-movie bots just aren't a good mix. Unfortunately, they've been doing a lot of those characters lately. I think they handle pre-Movie characters a bit better, and I think they shine when they do animal bots. *cough* FT, please make Terrorcons. *cough*
All the same, something needs to be said for the beauty of this figure. I'm a flip-it-back-and-forth guy, and I'm still going to get this one.
I'm a straight from the box to the shelf guy (if packaged in bot mode). Most of my collection has been transformed once or never at all. Blasphemy to many, I know. Transformation complexity has never been a deterrent for me (nothing can be worse than mp5). This piece looks gorgeous! Glad I waited for this one over the competition. Great review. As echoed by others, glad to see another skit (I know they must be time consuming).
Use a rubber band between the screw and the screwdriver to loosen a stripped screw.

I never really thought about the engineering of Fans Toys. They make such powerful and beautiful figures in both modes, but yeah, there's definitely something to be said about their transformations.
I’m good with Eligos. Had the engineering been better I may have swapped out. It’s not. I won’t. Great stuff as usual Bubbeh.

I was hoping months ago when we 1st saw images that was wrong about his white paint areas& his smaller size than Eligos, but alas again FT gets me excited all4nuthin special imo, not better really just better paint but its essentially same take on cyclonus. Imo its transformation is worse thaneligos, but if u missed out on him by all means buy this guy he Is gorgeous.
@@cherylsaliens5451 The transformation looks very similar to Eligos. Oh well, FT looks to have some good releases coming next year.
Totally agree. I think that Quietus looks substantially better, but only was going to get him if he wasn't a nightmare in some way. My copy of FT Galvatron was terrible so now I am much more apprehensive about FT.
Engineers, I know that it didn’t work the first time but make his horns are tall and pointy and look like a nose cone split in half. Make his head transform into the nose cone already.
Pretty much what I expected. Looks great - no fun to transform. I already have one that checks both of those boxes from X-Transbots but I've never needed to use tools to transform him and he comes with a cool little mini Galvatron to ride in jet mode, which I care about a lot more than IDW accessories.
I really hope Hydra is nowhere near as much of a pain to transform.
I dont know if anyone has shared this, but if you put a rubberband between the screw and the driver, you can usually get the screw to turn even stripped. That said, Great review. Now I want this AND Eligos...they both are equally interesting and this way I can have a G1 version and an IDW ( which Im coming around to lately ) version. One thing I have to say about your reviews is whether I agree or not, I know Im getting an unadulterated and thorough opinion and that actually makes you one of my top go to's for the info I need to make a good choice for ( wish I had seen your Shuraking video before I had gone in on the rest of the set). Sorry for the book, great stuff, keep up the totally honest and unbiased work
Well done video as usual. This figure is beautiful but the transformation is horrible as witnessed from yours and several other's videos. I'm a display guy so it will sit on my shelf looking pretty. Maybe you can have a sit down Saturday where you go over the figures (whether it's Transformers, Hot Toys, Black Series, etc...) that you consider perfect.
You know how you did a "History of Takara MP?" Maybe you could do "History of Fanstoys MP?"
Transformation is so cool...wow. Gorgeous figure and even prettier altmode.
Big props to you Bobby Skullface for the way you film your video. You transform him the way he comes out of the box. From Robot to Jet. I find it frustrating when other reviewers start in the opposite mode where we can't even follow the transformation instructions out of the box. This counts big time to me when viewing videos. And you have earned my subscription from that alone.

Their engineering is the reason why I'm still in on the Zeta Aerialbots for a combined mode. I'll have FT for individual bots
Fanstoys new use of translucents is so nice, it’s like a little signature on each of there products
This is the Transformer that got me into Fans Toys, it's also the transformer that makes me say that Fans toys is my personal favorite third party company. I know that engineering wise we can say it's not the most fun but is incredible all the same. I just love this figure to bits, all of them bits. Nice Review Bobby. Cockpit what cockpit...!!!
This is absolutely beautiful and I don't even care if the engineering is a pain when the result is so gorgeous. 'Member when FT sucked at face sculpts? I 'member!
So glad I’m a display guy. Comes packaged in bot mode, so I’ll live vicariously through you in this video for transforming it and just place mine from box to shelf. Boom!

See now this is where my interpretation of this figure comes in, while i dont own it, the complexity is having me foam at the mouth, im ITCHING to goof arouns with this at sone point to really get a feel for how he works since complex engineering SATISFIES me lol

I think that toy companies typically use super-cheap quality metal for their screws so don't feel bad about yourself. I have small-ish, nimble hands and do a lot of TF repairs/improvements so I have taken a lot of them apart. The screw heads generally strip very easily. One major example of this? DX9 Gabriel (he came with completely immobile, unlubricated joints that also caused a lot of screws to snap in half), but there are many, many others with this issue that I do not remember the names of currently.

Great review as always sir, and a great figure. Think he will go right from the box to the shelf.
It's all about the giant square peg under the canopy. If you open the cockpit up and apply pressure to seat that peg then you don't even have to worry about tabbing those hinged tabs at the back of the legs.
This is beautiful figure not fan a fanstoys but cant deny the look its amazing
I really did not think the transformation of this guy was too bad. It does some great mass shifting for sure. I have much more problem with their Galvitron and Springer feet in Car mode. I have never put him into Helicopter mode because I’m dreading the work to transform him. This guy on the other hand seems pretty intuitive except I had no idea of the two hidden pegs that go into the legs in jet mode.
This is the definitive Cyclonus. Hope FT makes a Scourge.
Just want to say my appreciation to you and other TH-cam Transformer Reviewers like Emgo316 and TMan978 for showing the transformations especially for FansToys.
When my nephews or friends who don’t collect sees my MP collection in all its Detolf Glory and ask me to transform them, I tell “Uhhh No, this is a $100+ Figure, you can watch this link, enjoy.”

Two month into collecting Fans Toys and this is still my all time favorite TF figure. I tried getting FT-29T on eBay three times and three times this weathered torn eBay champion got scammed, had to ask the refunds to PayPal on each of those scams, eBay can curl up and died for all I care. This TF has been eluding me, I even got FT-16M which I wanted but wasn't even looking for. No more I say... No more!!! I'm getting it and I'm getting it now. Just had to come back here and say this, next time I come back I come in triumph, with less money to spend but with this FT in hand.
I have this for me, I rate it as top three toys I own this year. It is breathtaking. Yes annoying to transform but I love it.
A friend of mine has eglios and he says this tops it.
This figure is one of my most expected third party releases from this year. It does an amazing duo with Sovereign. I'm biased because Cyclonus was one of my favorite Decepticons from season 3: Purple (fav color), mean look with the eyebrows and the weird goatee that was common during that season, a very cool alt mode (a jet with forward swept wings), and finally a target master... What else can you ask for? Thanks for the review! Looking forward for the sit down Saturday discussions.
Just got mine and transformed him (with help from your video). The transformation is a chore.
Lotsa views. Where are the likes people. Wheres the love. As for the figure. Already ordered thanks to Skully.

It´s amazing! not that difficult to transform when you know how to do it.
Transformation is so much easier than these reviews have shown. Only issue besides the canopy not plugging in is the hands clipping into the thrusters. Just a bad design choice. The hands should fold into the forearm. Problem solved. But took about 15 minutes first try. This made the figure more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be. Best Fanstoys figure since the Dinobots. Phew, I hope they don’t go back to where they were last year.

I agree that the they take the fun out of transformations. It's the reason why I am nervous about their combiners.

Listen up everybody I just found out from my sources over at eBay that fanstoys is currently in the process of being sued by Hasbro. Subsequently, fanstoys May conveniently not be able to complete the stunticons and aerialbots combiners. I find that this is extremely convenient as they are just about to release the final figures to complete these sets. Therefore, I have deduced that Hasbro is working in conjunction with fans toys as both companies are criminally accountable. Fanstoys never had the intention nor the engineering capability to pull off these combiners. Furthermore, during transformation of all of them I have not seen any indication were there are any hidden ports where these might combine. I am sorely disappointed with fans toys and I am especially disgusted with Hasbro.
Just got mine a couple days ago in the mail. After watching this I won't be transforming him anytime soon.
It's presence is second only to yours Bobby. Hopefully someday a 3rd party makes a Masterpiece Bobby Skullface Bot.
Your assessment of the transformation difficulty is a bit surprising to me. I thought other than some tight joints, the transformation isn't too complex. In terms of difficulty I'd rank it below (as in easier than) Fans Toy's Apache and Sovereign, and about the same as Koot. Koot's transformation was not too bad for me other than the interference problem with the wheels. I cut out the interfering piece in Koot and also shaved the rectangular peg on Quietus, so I guess I have no issue taking a knife to a $100+ toy.
Anyway, I like Quietus a lot so far and it probably will be one of the top Transformers toys of 2018 for me.
I'm with you on this. I just got the T version for my birthday from my wife and I think the transformation isn't that bad really. Both modes look perfect to me so all in all I'm really happy to own this figure.
I have to say that the paint on this, is probably the best work that FansToys has done. It is absolutely incredible. And he is far heavier than I thought he’d be. This will not be transformed by me, and will stay like this alongside my Galvatron and Scourge. My Eligos can stay in jet mode, and fly along with my Sweeps. The transformations do seem to be difficult lately since their Phoenix release, but I’m extremely happy that this figures price point is spot on perfect. Another great review, and I’m sorry to hear about your issues. Can’t wait to see what you have upcoming for your discussion videos.

That skit almost made me piss myself. Transformation gave me chills... its bringing me over to the non-transforming transformer side of life

Sorry I didn't read through the comments to see if someone else said this already (just no time), but I kept it to things useful for bot mode since that may be useful to you if you don't already know. There is a full foot tilt, not just a toe tilt, at the same point as the ankle rocker. It is very tight though. Whether you know about it or not didn't mention it in the video though I did see it in action when transforming the second leg.
On the forearm rotation to get the forearm wings into place I've found it works better if you rotate it the opposite way, 3/4 of the circle instead of the 1/4 of a circle that seems so obvious. The piece the forearm wings line up with in bot mode don't resist you going that way. I have no idea if you worked with it until you got it or if you gave up on it.
Had to send my 2nd xtb stunticon back as paint peeled off and a stupid sticky plastic sheet, which also left awful glue on it. This might just make up for it, it's stunning.

i did the fix to get it flush, did not get it quite sanded down enough yet got stuck, used only a very small amount of heat from a hair dryer to loosen litterally not even 30 seconds, and the corner around the right tab (canopy section) got malformed. Just a heads up guys, that particular part is very soft plastic, so make sure you take your time

As someone who loves the IDW designs i honestly dont think you're missing out on not having this in that configuration, ignoring the chest shoulders arms and whatnot- the hip guards themselves sit too low on the figure, maybe in hand its different but just looking at them they seem wrong and its something that could have been fixed with a literal inch of plastic.
While im glad that FT would include it, it just seems more of a throwaway option to make a few more sales, and because of how the horns close they dont sit forward like theyre supposed to and have the visible pin. Admittedly this is all personal aesthetics preferences but comparing it with the comics FT missed the mark badly imo

RE: the non-fun transformation - I feel this is pretty par for the course with the "upper level" 3rd parties. They look great but how many can you transform in mere minutes and enjoy multiple modes? Not many. This is why I do love them as shelf pieces but as far as 'deskbots' and transformation value, this is where/why I still support Has/Tak. Ain't nobody got time for 30 minute transformations with instructions or TH-cam tutorials.
I just cant see myself pulling the trigger on this. I want to. I REALLY want to. It looks fantastic in bot mode. But I'm with you Skully. I'm not taking a knife to something that shouldve been taken care of in the beginning.

Great review as always. I can only comment on shelf presence, as I will not transform him. He definitely is an excellent figure. Typical FANNNS TOYYYYSS! My only gripes would be, I think he's a little too tall compared to their Galvatron, and maybe a little thin. However, I think if he would've been a little shorter to scale with Galvy, and (Eligos)?, that wouldn't be an issue. I'm sticking with him, but to me, doing the best Galvitron ever, and not making Quietus the right height, Hmmmm? I will watch some toons to see if he is taller, but it is a bit odd. Keep up the great work brother. Appreciate the hard work.

You mention wanting a heel, it may help to flip out the piece under the toe and fill in the middle of the foot depending on how you're posing him. Great review as always man, always look forward to your take on new MP figures.
This is just a general warning. Be super careful poping the shoulders out. The entire hinge unit for the cockpit/arm section that connects it to the body JUST shattered on mine. Hopefully tfsource let's me exchange.

Well I’m sold ! Great video. Engineering seem terrible but really where are you gonna hide all that stuff . It felt ingenious to me but I wouldn’t even try to transform it after watching this .

Oof. 100% agree, I will never bring a knife near my 100$+ figure. Not a chance. I'll bust up my 30$ Grimlock to install the addons kit. Or do some shaving on my combiner wars guys. But something like this, hell no!
Why does no-one ever mention the ability to do pec flyes? Not that I pose TFs in gym stances but it's an arm position that's very important.

I've just transform it with your video, I did not find it that hard, confusing sure but but nothing worst like MP 2.0 Megatron(to be honest anything after Wardog is easy) and the transformation did felt fragile at all but I do believe is hard but again how else you can get such results?
