I’d never seen a white deer before, how beautiful was he 🍂🦌🍁 Groundbreaking shaky potato cam footage I know, but still so thrilled to have seen him :D what are you guys up to this weekend? Much love and happy Autumn 🐻CB
Rarely, fleetingly, fortune may bring you a sighting of a deer without pigment in its coat, that appears completely white. Seeing a white deer is considered an omen throughout the world. The Celts thought that white deer were messengers from the Otherworld.
I just Googled white deer and the first link was on the British Deer Society site. I won't post the link because TH-cam doesn't like links in comments but it's easy to find and worth a quick read.
Hi,Iv been watching your channel for about a month now, I used to tent camp when I was young (30odd years ago) and you've given me the Bug again so iv been shopping for bits, my cloud peak 2 came just today. Anyway thanks for the beautiful videos I can't wait to get out there.😎
White deer was "ancient keeper spirit of all beautiful forests". It was big blessing to meet them. He choose only special people to show them at their work. I'm not that surprised he chose our beautiful and nature loving Albion Pocahontas. It was big pleasure to watch this.

I live on the edge of Thetford forest and hear all those sounds nightly, the monster was a buck threatening nearby bucks, the white deer will have been a fallow deer although the white ones are few and far between. We also get the owls, the muntjacs barking all day and night and in spring the woodpeckers. I wouldn't be without any of them now though, I love it
Yehh I saw a brown buck and the white one, both fallow so probably grunting around trying to see the other off 🦌🦌 the owls are the best sounds aren't they, the tawnys are my favourite 🦉 how lovely to live on the edge of Thetford :D

6:40 I live in the US in the northeast. We have brutal winters, hot humid summers and fall is absolutely the best time of the year. But my ex husband is from California so we spent one Christmas there. Sitting on a beach watching him surf while video calling my niece opening presents with snow outside just confirmed I could never live somewhere without seasons. Yes I love the beach, but I love a good snow storm too. I need that balance of both. The heat in the summer makes me appreciate the brisk chill of the winter mornings. The mornings I have to shovel my car out and scrape the ice off makes me appreciate the hot summer nights sitting outside watching fireworks or reading under the glow of lights I strung on a tree above my hammock. Camping in early fall is the best here. Warn during the day but not too hot for hikes or fun stuff and then hoodies around the campfire at night. That dew in the morning when you wake up. California could never compete haha
Haha thanks, I don't go very far mostly because the thought of losing camp in the dark is terrifying 😄😨 I left a light on but realised pretty quick I couldn't see it behind the log and went back

The white deer... Reminded me once years ago down SW border of Wales on army training area ... In the fog one night walking along a track ... I suddenly saw a multi point massive stag pure white ... Very ghostly and it looked like royalty of the deer world
Wow, that must have been amazing! I don't think I've ever seen a stag in person. These ones are fallow deer which are smaller, but they still look so majestic with their antlers. The stags must be breathtaking 😍
@WildBeare it freaked me out in the fog at midnight just stood looking at me ... Really majestic... Steam coming off it as a cold night... It was pretty much near horse size ... Nothing better than getting your shelter up before the rain comes. I've always felt that camping next to fallen trees is a great spot. It gives you a great wind break and makes setup so much quicker and easier.
Yeh they're great aren't they. I also love the thought that if a branch were to fall, the fallen tree would likely take most of the impact 🍁🍂 (although there was nothing directly overhead on this occasion)
For the plane ‘problem’ you could check the wind direction. Maybe with a different wind direction the planes have to use a different runway and then maybe also a different flight path. If so, those woods could still be useable with different weather.
Yep, I filmed a camp there a few weeks ago with much less issue, did some researching the flight paths and it's exactly as you said, due to the wind direction they had changed course and were now coming in right overhead. It was so loud and continuous I'm not sure I'd wanna risk it again, sadly, as it's really gorgeous there and otherwise very quiet. I can't believe how low they were for being 10 miles out from the airport! Thanks for watching :)
On the moors up north use to be quiet they set up a new route from Newcastle airport flying over previously empty airspace corridor . We now have one every few hours throughout the night some lower level ..ear plugs the only way now . Yes the weird dog noise deer they will come close to investigate and circle around .

@@WildBeare - I had an ex who lived about a mile and half from the end of the runway at Gatwick. Barely noticed the planes...although, that say more about me than the planes 😂
@@WildBeare There are plans for changes in the approaches to LLA which are mid-stage and may improve things when the wind is in the SW as traffic approaches from the ENE. But when runway 25 is in use some departures from LLA will then be climbing towards the WSW rapidly over the Chilterns AONB. But there are also LHR departures by then at the 6,000ft level which are climbing towards the NNW at 90 degrees to the LLA traffic as the main departure routes for the US also fly over the eastern end of the Chilterns. In short it's a very busy area for aircraft, sadly.
Oh Claire, What a bummer, you found a patch of woodland with no humans to bother you, no dogs either but pitched under the flightpath of LAP. I grew up in Slough so I don't even notice the planes. You never cease to amaze me, you manage to get more sleep than me with rutting deer, killer frogs and presumably the first fligh of the day. You must sleep forever when you are tucked up safe and sound at home 🏡. Cheers for now Graham
Geez the colours look good. Love the insects too. Havnt been to the UK in autumn. Only winter and summer. Stayed at Askam in Furness and hiked the lakes… winter was kinda like hunkered down and then the weather would break and we would make a mad dash for it. Great memories 👍
It's amazing the sounds animals can make at times. The scariest encounter I ever had was at night in the forest. A loud relentless screaming went on for about fifteen minutes. I swear it is what one might imagine hearing if a seven year old boy was being cruelly tortured without pause. The screaming was so like a human voice. It was of course a fox but I have heard hundreds of fox's screams, this one was special. I genuinely wondered if this was one of those times where I would need to intervene on a crime to save someone. Eventually the screams could be heard to move across the forest and I knew for sure it was an animal then. Phew!
These vids are just fantastic, where do you get the ideas from Claire?. I remember building hideouts and dens as a child, you haven't lost that innocence! Once again, cool video Claire.
Thanks so much, I never lost that love for a den :D I just see places when I'm out on a walk and I think ohh.. that'd be great to make a den with! And I make a note of where it is and come back another time with me camping stuff :)
The way you set up the den against the fallen tree is so creative and resourceful. The rainy autumn weather really adds to the cozy atmosphere. And spotting that albino animal was such a rare and special moment! Great job handling the challenges and making the most of the experience.
What a lovely way to spend a night. Alive, embracing Autumn. I love mists, mysterious fogs. Sharp fresh air. The smell of rain on living earth. Mossy trees and fragrant fallen leaves.
In the South East the flight path will mostly be from the North East of the airport because the planes land into the wind which is prevailingly from the South West. So before giving up on a good camping spot, check the wind direction to the airport. It might have just been a day when the wind was in the wrong direction.
Mm it deffo depends on wind direction. I'd given up on this area because from past experience the planes had been awful, then I risked it again months later and it was bearable, now this time it was horrendous again haha
gods, like so many others here in the US, i really needed this today. thank you for your calm perseverance, claire. you've taught me that no matter the hardship, we can carry on.

But there are also LHR departures by then at the 6,000ft level which are climbing towards the NNW at 90 degrees to the LLA traffic as the main departure routes for the US also fly over the eastern end of the Chilterns. In short it's a very busy area for aircraft, sadly.
Oh Claire,
What a bummer, you found a patch of woodland with no humans to bother you, no dogs either but pitched under the flightpath of LAP. I grew up in Slough so I don't even notice the planes. You never cease to amaze me, you manage to get more sleep than me with rutting deer, killer frogs and presumably the first fligh of the day. You must sleep forever when you are tucked up safe and sound at home 🏡.
Cheers for now
Graham
I love having the different seasons like you great video thanks
That dwelling was a work of art Claire. Beautiful aesthetics with the autumn coloured leaves in the foreground and accent on top. Lovely……
Your subtitles are criminally under rated! The music descriptions are my favourite 😂
I totally agree with you about the seasons, Iove them all, even if some linger a bit 😂
Love your subtitles Claire. Peaceful plonky noises indeed.
Phew!
Sounds funny reading it but must have been terrifying for you in the moment. 😂😂😂
@@WildBeare Thanks for the reply Claire. Look forward to the next 'nook' and I hope you have better luck with the overhead flight paths.
The kind of adventure we need. Thanks.
The growling sounds like male deer calling during the rut(mating time).
Mm yes I think you're right :)
The way you set up the den against the fallen tree is so creative and resourceful. The rainy autumn weather really adds to the cozy atmosphere. And spotting that albino animal was such a rare and special moment! Great job handling the challenges and making the most of the experience.
The wood looks so beautiful at this time of year with all the different colours. Awesome camp ❤and the white stag too❤
What a lovely way to spend a night. Alive, embracing Autumn. I love mists, mysterious fogs. Sharp fresh air. The smell of rain on living earth. Mossy trees and fragrant fallen leaves.
Looks very interesting way of wild camping wild beare
In the South East the flight path will mostly be from the North East of the airport because the planes land into the wind which is prevailingly from the South West. So before giving up on a good camping spot, check the wind direction to the airport. It might have just been a day when the wind was in the wrong direction.
Mm it deffo depends on wind direction. I'd given up on this area because from past experience the planes had been awful, then I risked it again months later and it was bearable, now this time it was horrendous again haha
What a wonderful cozy spot!!
Thank you Claire.
gods, like so many others here in the US, i really needed this today. thank you for your calm perseverance, claire. you've taught me that no matter the hardship, we can carry on.
Even with the planes, still what a peaceful video. Loving all the cozy fall vibes! ❤
I love you and your channel so much.
“ I like a monster” she says!
Absolute filth!
That white buck is an albino, and exceedingly rare, a good omen for things to come 👍
