As an American going to a French Belgian school when I was in the 10th grade 35 years ago, I was struggling as well. I know exactly what you are going through. As the school year went on, it got better because of the support from several of the teachers and my classmates. Some of the subjects will be a little easier because the subject are the same no matter what country you learning in. For example, the math and sciences. They may teach it in a different way but the results are the same. Keep your head up Sophia. Everything will be just fine.
I admired Hanah being a responsible mom. She always boost Sophia’s confifent on her studies. I love Hanah telling Sophia that someday you can help somebody who will experience same thing of what Sophia’s had encounter.

Don't despair Pinkay. You're still young enough 2 learn Czech as it's used in school. You'll master the language thru your school years just as I did(english) here in U.S. I was placed in ESL (english as a second language) class w/ 10 yr old Filipino immigrants) in the beginning. That resulted in me learning Tagalog (b4 English 😅) since it wasn't my primary Filipino dialect. But I fear Czech is more challenging 2 learn but you have Mom 2 tutor you unlike me coz my parents had 2 learn English also. For me, English... as well as Tagalog was easy 2 learn coz I was only 10. Thanks 2 internet, u 2 can learn Tagalog along the way. You already have the English part(which is the important). Take full advantage of your multi-cultural background.Try not 2 lose your Brit- ish accent also😅🤞

Understanding conversational Czech language is not sufficient for school learning. I think Sophia needs a tutor! At least until she can understand the teachers more and the instructions.

When learning a new language, there is a marked difference between conversational and instructional. There should be books available in the library to help Sophia -- and for that matter, Jafet too. Hanna is a good teacher, so I'm confident this family can tackle this challenge soon.
Czech Republic is huge & many places for hiking & outdoor adventures. U did the right thing moving from Manchester. Sophia will experience life knowing her grandmother & extended families nearby. It won’t be easy in the beginning but all worth it. I guess ur the only Pinoy in the village.

That looks like a nice and quiet neighborhood, I've been there Sophia. we came to US when I was 18 years old in 1973, and don't know much english, so when I went to school, I could understand what the teacher was saying, but but I couldn't explain when called to answer a question, but everytime we had a test, I would ace it, they thought I was cheating, so I had to do the test again.. but don't worry , you'll be great..I ended up working for the local gov't for 30 yrs., after..i'm now retired..
I suggest dont talk to her english anymore...except the father since he cant speak also czech language. Let her read czech books and songs and news or tv series in czech. It would help her a lot to cope up with the language, the pronunciation and the speed. If you keep on talking to her in english, it would really take her time to understand and to speak the language.

I think Hana’s plan of discussing with the teacher Sophia’s current struggle with the Czech language in school is a good first step. I can understand why a foreign-born person (even if she or he is half-Czech) will experience these initial problems. It might help to try viewing those language classes online also. One thing good that’s going for Sophia is she was willing to move to Czechia like her parents. That will facilitate a smooth transition into the Czech way of life for Sophia.

Super ganda talaga ng place nila, swerte nyo talaga sir at si hanna napangasawa nyo. Ok lang yan pingkay, isipin mo nalang your mom hanna lumaki at czech but she knows how to speak. English, pag tumagal ka din dyan sure matuto at makakaintindi ka din ng Czech language. Moving to other places to live while you are young makes you a better person. That's what I learned. We moved around 7 dwellings in different places in the previous years and I learned a lot. I think I'll be dumber if we stayed all along on our first residence.

We had subjects for 'Beginning English' students, but that was Primary School - Take it Step-by-Step Sophia, focus on what you're strong at and keep chipping away the Czech language. You're not failing as long as you're putting full effort. Perhaps, hang around your cousins more, and ask them to speak formally every now and then, just to get you hearing the grammar and words. Sophia is having a period of adjustment in her new environment. Sooner or later she will learn to adopt everything. It's normal but she needs support from families and friends. She's growing up and becoming prettier.😊
Since i was 9 years old we migrated 3x all with different languages i need to learn all of it to adapt . Mahirap talaga nawawala ang self confidence lalo na sa school .
It’s expected that Sophia will experience frustration in her new school. Adjustment may takes a few months. Sophia is a very smart girl and I’m sure after 6 months or so, everything will go on smoothly for her. Just don’t push her so much. She will excel eventually.
It takes a while to grasp the language but sooner or later she will be good at it. Children are adaptable to a new language and environment. One percent improvement each day and in a year, she will be good!

I think Hana’s plan of discussing with the teacher Sophia’s current struggle with the Czech language in school is a good first step. I can understand why a foreign-born person (even if she or he is half-Czech) will experience these initial problems. It might help to try viewing those language classes online also. One thing good that’s going for Sophia is she was willing to move to Czechia like her parents. That will facilitate a smooth transition into the Czech way of life for Sophia.

Super ganda talaga ng place nila, swerte nyo talaga sir at si hanna napangasawa nyo. Ok lang yan pingkay, isipin mo nalang your mom hanna lumaki at czech but she knows how to speak. English, pag tumagal ka din dyan sure matuto at makakaintindi ka din ng Czech language. Di ka pingkay nag iisa, si tatay jafet din mag aaral ng Czech both of you 😅
Gaya nalang ni Pinoy Equatorial Guinea, pinoy vlogger ng work sa Africa dinala nya sa pinas ang mga africans dito na sila ng aaral lahat medyo nahihirapan din sila sa english at tagalog pero pursigido matuto support lang ng mga nasa paligid need. Moving to other places to live while you are young makes you a better person. That's what I learned. We moved around 7 dwellings in different places in the previous years and I learned a lot. I think I'll be dumber if we stayed all along on our first residence.

We had subjects for 'Beginning English' students, but that was Primary School - Take it Step-by-Step Sophia, focus on what you're strong at and keep chipping away the Czech language.
You're not failing as long as you're putting full effort. Perhaps, hang around your cousins more, and ask them to speak formally every now and then, just to get you hearing the grammar and words.

It’s expected that Sophia will experience frustration in her new school. Adjustment may takes a few months. Sophia is a very smart girl and I’m sure after 6 months or so, everything will go on smoothly for her. Just don’t push her so much. She will excel eventually.
It takes a while to grasp the language but sooner or later she will be good at it. Children are adaptable to a new language and environment. One percent improvement each day and in a year, she will be good!

I SUGGEST dapat si HANNA MAG czech siya kay SOPHIA huwag mag english kahit mga basic lng muna ang convo nila SOPHIA EVERYDAY,manuod din ng mga cartoons na czech language din,,ganyan ang ginawa namin sa aming half filipino - half SLOVAK ,,ang language ginagamit ni mr. sa mga anak namin is slovak kapag ako mixed slovak and english basic pa lng ang alam ko...sa awa ng DIYOS marunong na magslovak ang anak ko kahit wrong grammar atleast makapagtalk at makaintindi na siya...ganyan din anak ko dati nag struggle sa school dahil ang alam niya ENGLISH language lng...masanay din si SOPHIA AT smart naman siya,,,magbasa din siya ng book na pang kinder para mas madali sa kanya at makipagtalk sa pinsan niyang mga czech...never too late to learn SOPHIA.. kaya mo iyan...good luck SOPHIA...
