I liked GT and I’m tired of pretending I didn’t, screw yall I liked GT even if it’s just a what if story now, it had good music, awesome fights that weren’t dragged out across 10 episodes and awesome character designs, like hate me if y’all want but I really would’ve loved if Saiyan God form looked a little similar to SSj 4 form instead of a palette swap of super saiyan 1

SSJ4 is objectively the best design transformation. And it matters of emotional resonance, Goku’s never had a new form with as much meaningful impact as SSJ4 since the original super saiyan was first revealed in the Frieza saga. SSJ2 comes close, with Gohan vs. Cell, but 3 was boring (and ugly) while God was the ass pull to end all ass pulls. Some rando catgod wakes up one day and goes “I wanna fight a super saiyan god” and then they make one out the blue… and then it turns blue. This is the height of storytelling? This is why GT got kicked out of canon status for? GT was some great travesty against nature, but this the shit people be gobblin’ up? Sad.
To be fair.. People who hate on GT usually hate on Super too. Lol
GT wasn't held to the schedule of when Toriyama put out new chapters as anime are always produced quicker than even a weekly shonen series. Dragon Ball's poor pacing in OG and Z is because of how fast episodes can be made as they can often feature 2 or 3 chapters per episode for them to feel well paced.
Music I disagree with outside of the main theme. Dan Dan Kokoru is amazing and one of my favorite Dragon Ball OPs. Fights were ok with only a few stand outs

I never understood the hate. GT was a big part of my childhood. To each their own I guess.
me either honestly, until i got older i never really saw people thrashing it like that
I think in Germany GT was only hated because of the broadcast was heavily censored. episodes were sometimes only 10 minutes long or they skipped entire episodes. I remember one time Super C17 came and next episode he was suddenly defeated. I think around 13 episodes were missing and more were cut in half.
I loved the goku vs baby when i was younger, the golden ape transformation to ss4 was epic

I binged Dragonball Kai all the way through to GT when I rediscovered Dragonball. I cried at the end of GT because at the time it was the last ever episode
Isn't Kai canon to Super anime? Where as the original Z anime is canon to GT

@@majinrebornx2220Kai and Z are the same story though. Both are canon to Super. GT is more of a split off timeline at the end of the final episode of Z while Super continues a few years post Buu Saga.
@@stripschicken87 Yeah you are right to a certain extent but the continuities are different as certain projects are meant to go with others. In Japan, the Super anime is a direct sequel to Kai. Where as the GT anime is a direct sequel to the original Z anime run.
I like to think that Goku became like a guardian of earth in the last episode of GT
I wish they made an official manga of DBGT so that it might be continued as an alternate timeline alongside DBS

There’s nothing partially unique about the other planets. They could’ve all been Earth. Or at least DBs version of Earth. GT really felt like alien worlds

Lets be honest, Dragon Ball was never a coherent storytelling masterpiece. But DBS makes GT seem like Shakespeare. The whole franchise is a zombie at this point, going forward only for cheap fanservice and infinite money. Animation was a let down too. There is not a single thing that DBS did well
I liked GT. I feel like they should’ve given this series a chance and try.
It wasn't doing well enough in Japan and was ultimately cancelled after poor ratings

Dragonball GT introduced Super Saiyan "God" first but as Gogeta Super Saiyan 4 exclusive appearance.
Till this day, no anime has ever even come close to making an ending as amazing as GT’s final episode. Plenty of great shows and endings out there but GT final episode is literally perfect

@@FazeRustyNuts He did want it to end, back in the 90s the Buu Saga was made to be the end of the franchise. It's just the Dragon Ball Evolution came out in the 2000s and was so God Awful that he didn't want that to be the Legacy of his Series. So he came back and helped make Battle of Gods, which was supposed to be the end of the Series, just a stand alone movie to show that the Seires wasn't as bad as the movie made it seem. An Epilogue if you will. But then they decided to do just one more Movie and made Resurrection of F. And then they decided to make an Anime adaptation of those movies, so they decided while they're at it they should probably bring the Manga back. He decided that he didn't want to work on the Manga anymore since he was tired of the grueling schedule, so he got someone else to do it for him. Before he passed away (R.I.P the G.O.A.T.) he wasn't actually working on the Series besides maybe giving Toyataro some notes.

Im not gonna lie, the ending on GT was top quality material, the scenes, the farewells, and the voice over narrator biding goodbye. Was perfect, the journey to get there was not so great though.

I honestly never understood the hate for GT I loved it. My friend had the whole thing on VHS tapes and that’s how I started it. But even as a adult and I go back to binge I still love GT

Best anime ending, usually anime endings are horrible, but this was a good ending. It was beautiful watching this as a kid.
I really wish I could watch GT. I have no way of watching it now, and I really want to. I feel like it had amazing ideas but they weren't properly executed.
Dbgt might be one one of my favorite anime of all time because when I was like 8, my mom got me the full box set, and it was all I watched for a whole summer
GT is a mess that destroys the main characters by making it so that Goku and Vegeta can't beat a bunch of weaklings that they should have no problem dealing with.
@@jayzdawg3111 The series starts with Goku getting shrunk with him 'claiming' that he didn't 'decrease his strength' at all. And yet when they go into space to find the dragonballs, which is also a 'Why the fuck will they blow up the Earth all of a sudden when it's never been recorded happening ever?' moment. Goku struggles to beat complete and utter weaklings whose only claim to fame are their stupid gimmicks. And yet these Gimmicks somehow fuck Goku up! Ridiculous, if Goku was really as strong as he claimed to be, should've had zero problem taking out these guys. He beat Kid Buu! Hell he beat Freiza and these guys are not even a candle to Freiza who Goku can beat with a single blow at that point and yet for whatever reason he struggled against utter weaklings.
Then we get to the first Baby Arc where Vegeta was fighting a super weakened, Goten and Gohan and yet somehow they managed to beat him? Really? Goten and Gohan who at this point are just slightly above regular humans beat Vegeta? Talk about a character death. The only time Goku fights someone that is an actual threat is Baby Vegeta, Super 17, and about half of the Shadow Dragons.
Then there's Pan who is pretty much Chi-Chi 2.0 only more annoying, more childish and amazingly just as stupid as her grandmother. She is a brat, and one who thinks she's the dominant force of the trio and somehow Trunks let's her get away with it. Just so much bad that people ignore for Super Saiyan 4.
@jayzdawg3111 Before GT there's no mention of Black Star Dragonballs at all ever. They were put in to create a false sense of urgency, basically it was a put in to make things seem like a bigger deal than they actually were. Also Rildo being stronger than Buu? Really I seriously doubt that's the case dude was only a challenge when he fused with the others and Baby. GT is not as good as people think it is and again it's only real saving grace is super saiyan 4. GT is pretty much Cell Saga in terms of mistakes with story pacing and character development.

@@jayzdawg3111 I saw GT a very long time ago and haven't really gotten back to watching and honestly don't really want to rewatch it. For me it's not a whole lot of good memories yes the SS4 Goku fights are good but the rest? Not really. And compared to the other two. Namek we have already established that since Kami created the dragonballs, they must exist in his home planet so they needed to use them to bring back their friends. The urgency came when it became a race against time against an established force that being the Freiza Force. Raditz establishes Freiza Force when he meets Goku, thus the Namek saga builds into their appearance and power.
Super Dragonballs? It was technically hinted in the Buu Saga when Elder Kai mentions that they 'allowed' the Namekians to make their own Dragonballs. Thus it sets up that there are possible dragonballs on a god like level which there was. It only became Urgent when Beerus and Champa got involved because of their petty hatred for each other and even then it wasn't that big of a deal in the end. So no real urgency it was just a rather 'friendly' tournament so not a huge set of conflict but it was done to open the overall Dragonball lore by introducing the concept of other universes, and the fact that there are possibly stronger foes. So they both created new possibilities, and overall the potential for more original content.
My basis for hating GT, is bad overall story, bad characters and bad developments, which you ignored, and bad set up into certain conflicts, particularly the Black Dragonballs. Everything else is ok, the fights are mostly ok, and Super Saiyan 4 is ok.
@@jayzdawg3111 That is something I can agree with. Although if you haven't had a chance to read the manga please do. Toriyama is a god at fight choreography and is often why it feels lacking with Toyotaro. Toriyama's understanding of 3D space is incredible

Goku wasnt presumed to be dead during the fight I think he actually did die. I remember hearing along the lines of goku has finally fallen from the overwhelming power of omega shenron by the narrator.
GT was full of cool ideas, but man i just always remember being bored as hell watching every episode, but i do miss omega shenron being more popular

Season 1 didn't really care for till the baby Sega really started towards the end.
GT was great and the fact they ended it off like that goes to show how highly rated it was overall
There's a few things GT deserves more credit for in my book, some of which I haven't seen since OG DB, but having him get better at the "new iconic ability of the series" rather than just replacing it one arc later feels like it belongs pretty high on the list.

I never thought it was bad. As a kid I just wanted more Dragonball. When I started picking up the VHS tapes here and there it was pure magic. Before then all we had was crappy internet and our own independent searches into this magical universe. Long live Dragonball! Toriyama San has ascended to the realm of the Gods
I think that gt is just another good show it had its ups and downs like any other show but with ssj4 it really made you admire what made saiyans cool instead of just a pallet swap he actually becomes the ultimate form of equilibrium between ape and saiyan form

Toyotaro’s continuation of the Dragon Ball story with Dragon Ball AF, after Goku flies off with Shenron, he is taken to the realm of the dragons. There, Goku trains with Pikkon and battles Omega Shenron, becoming exceedingly powerful and eventually achieving the Super Saiyan 5 transformation. he faces his son, Xicor, a half-Saiyan, half-Kai hybrid created by an evil Supreme Kai. Xicor’s immense power challenges all the Z Fighters,cooking them Super saiyan 5 Vegeta and Gohan. They manage to seal Xicor away and spend months preparing for future threats. During this time, they use the Dragon Balls to revive Broly and they use a ritual to embue the dragonballs with saiyan energy to bring goku back we dont get to see the full ending due to the fact Toyotaro became a real dragonball super artist so he couldnt work on the fan manga that got him that large notoriety and recognition from Toriyama.
I liked GT. It was by no means perfect, *cough* Pan, but it was no where near as bad as people make it out to be.
People hate on GT but it had a lot of interesting and cool concepts going for it, like the shadow dragons being made form all the dumb wishes, because the dragon balls weren’t meant to be used so frequently, honestly something I could see returning in Super since Bulma is wasting wishes to make sure villains don’t use the dragon balls. Plus ssj4 was cool in its concept, the way Goku became more fierce and even his voice got deeper and gravely, and although it went on too long the baby saga was interesting at first. As well as the beginning of Gt was literally a return to old school dragon ball and them running around collecting dragon balls and having random adventures and Goku not being able to properly use his real power because of his child form was a way to nerf him and not make him OP at the start.
How cool would it have been if the super spirit bomb was Calle stir universal spirit bomb
