- Feel like this should have been an actual fight again Caroline & Justine that isn't as hard as the superboss version obviously. They could've made Lavenza the optional boss and we could've had a fight against them all.

When the real Igor returns and says "Welcome to THE Velvet Room" and "I'm please to make your acquaintance", you know it's the real deal! When I first started the game and met the fake he said "Welcome to MY Velvet Room" I knew something was off right away!!

@@59hawks Well, compared to P3 (The battle for everyone's souls) and P4(Genesis), his theme was kind of a let down.
@@luispalacios8423 Idk, while nothing will top battle for everyones souls, I think genesis is kinda forgettable, I mean it fits the mood and situation, but its so damn slow and the part I do remember and love is like 30 seconds long before repeating for another 5 minutes. Yaldabaoth does the job better, giving you a sense of dread with the shredding of the guitar before going into the upbeat part.
Honestly one of the best parts of the game. Igor’s voice change was jarring (but not necessarily unwelcome, cuz DAMN that voice is deep) and the general atmosphere of the velvet room felt so different from past games, it was almost TOO obvious, but the amazing thing was that, no matter what, I still never thought it would have been Igor himself (or more specifically the impersonation Of Igor) that was secretly behind everything. If you’re gonna hide something, hide it right underneath their nose.... their ridiculously long nose
And if you never played a persona game before, it is even better.
Igor seems suspicious from the start, but his lies still fit really well into the context of the world... And some of his advice is legit helpful, enough that you learn to trust him.
Then plot twist: he was f***ing with you the whole time, and now has cursed you with the image of him standing.
@@YourCrazyDolphin lit, Persona 5 was my first game and well, the voice of Igor doesn´t seem very suspicious, and when I saw the P4 anime I was like "whut. Igor, the the smoke, plz omg-". When it revealed itself, I was like "thx, I have a good trauma now :D". Igor possesed besto cursed image.
And I was watching a youtuber playing P5Royal and he put in Igor his real voice without knowing, ´cause he has face (and nose) of an acute voice. F for him, he doesn´t know yet anything of the change in voice xDDDD

while both of them refer to themselves as the owner of velvet room in that intro, the fake igor is making his ownership and, by extension, his dominion over the velvet room way more clear, which is just fascinating

Well, consider that while Yaldabaoth did corrupt the Velvet Room he could not destroy it or truly alter its purpose. He certainly would have if he could since it would have been a clear way for him to achieve his objective. So he allowed it, I believe, because he was powerless to stop it. The fact he offered a deal rather then outright destroy Joker after the deed was done is also telling of how much control Yaldabaoth really had. He was losing his grip and knew it so resorted to deception. Simply put Yaldabaoth was messing with forces beyond his control and was steadily lossing control even as he tightened his grip. Basically he was doomed to failure so long as Joker did not give up.
Every Persona main villains seem to symbolise the means of human's destruction:
3: Death/Despair
4: Lies and Deceit
5: Stagnation/Emptiness
Well, every persona villain past the shin megami tensei merge
Persona 1: Nillism.
Persona 2: Sins of the past.
So next would be either Greed or Lust?

I figured something was up from the get-go. The voice was so jarring that it took me a long time to get used to it. They should have gone with a voice-activated at least sounded a little like Igor. Then maybe the twist wouldn't have been so blatantly obvious

Sweet mercy, that’s so painfully obvious in hindsight (the voice, “””my”” Velvet Room”, the unwelcoming feel of the Velvet Room, how fusions work here vs. how they worked in 3 and 4) yet this twist completely threw me off guard. I never would have suspected Igor, and I never did.
I am not sure about the velvet room. In 3 elevator, in 4 a limousine. In 5 a prison. Each of them has represented the character well (I don't know about the first two games velvet rooms as I was never able to get my hand on them).
The room reflection from the person state of mind is still true to how it work, but there's a catch here. Joker wants to break free from the chain of society, but he still lock up in the cell till the real Igor came

Honestly I was floored. I haven't played the first two persona games so I ain't an authority on this or anything, but Atlus taking the Velvet Room away from us (even if it was only shortly) felt like a violation of trust and really drove the "Rigged game" point home.
The one place you are never in danger turns out to have the villain staring at you from behind bars the entire fucking time.

True, but that was a double edged sword. Yaldy really did have a pathetic amount of influence in that place. It was still the safest place for you to be. He just gave it a redecoration so as to make you feel powerless.

Yes, in fact he claims to do this out of his own will but in truth, he's simply doing what Philemon and Nyarly started. Like Nyarly using a human (Kandori) and Yaldy (Shido). He also takes over the guide role that Philemon was originally in-charge of. And he acquires the abilities that Nyarly originally had-- such as making lies into truth.
Persona 5 has a hell lot of p1 and p2 reference, I won't be surprised if Nyarly is the final boss in the Royal

Bruh, I’ll shamelessly admit that Persona 5 is the first Persona Game I’ve ever played and when I met Igor and he had that deep voice, I was confused. I told myself “That doesn’t suit his face at all!”
Igor's original voice actor tragically passes and they trick you into thinking that's the reason for his voice change only for it to actually be one of the biggest plot twist in the series

@@markeyiszraFor some reason they didn't want to reuse Igor's voice clips from P4 in English, which is exactly what they did in Japanese (reuse his P4 voice clips so even after death, his original VA still voices him), and Dan Woren, his English VA, was unavailable to reprise so they got Kirk Thornton (the SIU director) to do Igor's parts although uncredited. The deep bass voice you hear from most game is not Igor, but Yaldabaoth, the main villain of the game.

I honestly laughed my ass off at this scene. When I first played the game I had no idea who Igor was and thought that he was evil in the opening cutscene

Yeahhhh... In 1, you not only had talk, you also had several variations of dance, sing I think, intimidate or threaten, and the only help you had was a meter that responded to your actions and told you how much the Shadow liked or hated what you just did lol

Honestly, the part where Joker was psyching up his teammates while "Regret" played was my favorite part of the entire game. The emotions at play were heavy and powerful, especially with Ryuji and Ann.

I was thinking of my place in Persona 5, and I figured out my persona name in the context of the game. Thrym, the Jottun that stole Thor's hammer.
I remember I was fighting the Holy Grail and I thought to myself "Hmm. This sounds a bit like Igor"
pretty epic moment facing down the real enemy, especially with all the resolve of your friends through the series overcoming their doubt to stand with you to face impossible odds. Its a beautifully crafted moment theres literally not a game that does it better which is saying alot won't be long before it becomes possibly the biggest gaming franchise in the world, since it just keeps getting better and I wouldn't miss an installment for anything since it never disappoints. I'm not even worried about how they'll top it like I do with other amazing games because I know this isn't even their final form.
Dude the scene at 2:01 is amazing, igor tells joker that he will be executed because he failed, and the twins throw him out of the cell to put him in the guillotine. Leading up to this scene in the velvet room the door is always closed, and you are always in the striped prison clothes, but then joker stands up, gets his phantom thief outfit, and the door on the cell breaks! This scene is so very well made and for anybody playing the game for the first time it is awesome.

i honestly recognized that "igor" was the holy grail since it first talked tho, i heard him so much i instantly came to my senses and said "wait thats igor oh shit"
his voice change being intentional for the plot is genius, coming from the previous games hearing his og voice made me so happy

I highly doubt it, if ATLUS never made him appear on 5 previous games (Counting this one like the 6th.) i don't think they intent to put him afther.
I rather bet that they will add more fake god's (Demiurges.) like Yaldabadoth if they rescued a concept straight from Shinigami Tensei in this game.

Okay, so I know that this twist was coming because of literally all the sources I've come across, but I was STILL floored by it. I thought that igor would have a deep voice once you discover the real one, I didn't expect the actual igor to sound like the original igor's from the other games. It was still masterfully done, and seeing it all happen was just amazing.
Playing Persona 5 as your first Shin Negami game is a real trip when Igor's plot twist unfolded. I began playing Persona 4 Golden long before finishing P5 and instantly noticed Igor's original more humble voice in P4G's introduction. I assumed it was a localization issue and they changed the voice actor for P5 just because.
I lost my shit so hard when real Igor arrived with the OG voice in tow. Best plot twist in video game history.

1st time in persona history that your ally is the main culprit in disguise all along never expected to interrupt your quest. Different boss from the previous gods or beings of past persona games.
The first Persona game I played was Persona 1 and that was way back in the day. So when I played Persona 5 I didn't think Igor's voice would be so deep. I imagined him to have a Denzel Crocker like voice.
His real voice is shown at 3 onwards though

It was a breath of fresh air getting to hear Igor sound normal again, since I started P5 right after I finished 4, and I was wondering why Igor sounded so much different
Persona 5 was my first game and the very first thing I commented on was the voice I thought it didn’t really match but didn’t really give it much thought beyond that and then hearing his real voice I was like ah that’s what I thought you would sound like
