It’s funny how Will is now going to be the focus of the show? Why? Because I think the original season could have so easily ended with Will dying. Why didn’t Will die? His mom, Joyce? Maybe. Maybe something else. It always struck me how, in season 1, Noah’s name was never part of the other party members. Will was in there longer than Barb. How was he able to survive as long as he did? Did he have special resources, or was he lucky, or was his survival a carefully orchestrated plan to infiltrate our world? Did Will make a deal with forces in the upside down? A deal having to do with Mike? Trading his life for the life of the “dungeon master”?
I've heard some theory about the show being in a time loop. And that maybe Vecna intentionally spared Will because Will has to do something important in the future. Perhaps Will potentially breaks the hypothetical "time loop". Since Vecna mentions time as a prison to Nancy or El in his backstory scene.

I would like an unexpected, surprise from the Duffer’s about Will’s character, but knowing their fascination with King I am filled with the distasteful notion that they’ll “dump his ass” with some stupid, arc. Like setting him up to be a vindictive creep who resented his “friends’” treatment all along. It’d be cool if Will, somehow, came under the influence of a secret force that was in the Upside Down when he was taken. A force with a hidden, yet positive agenda that required Will’s complete ignorance. That would be asking a lot.

I predict the following: Jonathan and Nancy break up and Steve and Nancy finally get back together Hopper and Joyce make their relationship confirmed Will confesses to Mike that he's in love with him and they have some conflict but it's resolved by the end of the series because their friendship is more important. Also will find somebody more important than Mike Eddie shows up in a couple flashbacks and Dustin makes peace with his death Max eventually comes out of her coma before the final battle with vecna to reveal some very very important pieces of information to help defeat him for good Robin and Vicky end up together and they knew they had feelings for each other the whole time Victor creel comes back in a very important way to help the children defeat Vecna After all is said and done 11 dies.

When did it show two people with will? Will ran to the shed and started loading his shotgun, then we hear that familiar whistling sound as he turns around to see the demagorgan appearing behind him and the light flashes and he’s gone. It never showed another person with him.
I strongly believe that the vanishing of… will not be Holly Wheeler. If it was her, why would they make it so obvious from the behind the scenes and then hide it on the titles?

I believe it could also be the Vanishing of Will and they will talk us through the first season and what happened when Will went missing in the upside down. We do see a young version of him in the leaks and to be fair there are so many gaps about it. Will has never talked about what happened when he was there!
In a 2022 interview with Variety, Matt Duffer mentioned that they're "not sure" if Season 5 will be the final season, leaving room for a possible 6th season

Maybe Will had hidden potential (powers) to unlock like vecna did to and why he was kidnapped. Being in love with Mike Could also play a part with him turning to vecna, eleven started everything opening the portal, with Mike. Maybe vecna Could use this to manipulate Will, sell it to him to get rid of eleven.
