      Would we really have it any other way though?
      If the chapter ring is aligned, it's not a real Seiko. The crooked chapter ring is the mark of Seiko quality.

    As for that infamous chapter ring, I always go for brushed stainless steel, never need to worry about alignment.
    I always look for watches with some story behind them. I have a Vostok Komandirskie K34 GMT (Black 2426 / 350006) owned by a real Commander in the Russian Military. The watch started in Russia, found it's way to Greece, and ended up here in Canada to then make it to Montreal, Quebec. Sold to me by the Commander's 2nd nephew.

    Great work Jody, my skills are terrible, I hire an electrician to change my globes on my CBUS systems at home. I have a bangled up Panerai 8 Day Power Reserve GMT I think that I loaned to a friend to impress a girls father who was taking him out on his boat, they must of had big one because my mate fell in the gutter that night & found about 150 reasons to not return my watch over 4 months, as he had smashed to the side of the case, broken the band, lost the buckle & put a small sratch on edge of the sapphire front & the rear rotor is unhinged moving around the back of the watch. My watch dealer quoted like 3K to polish to case & sapphire before we got into the band, buckle or dislodged rotor, so its been sitting in a draw do nothing for about 3-4 years, as I keep saying I am going to put is on my best mates (being my small Scottish dogs collar to make a statement as I have since replaced it with an upgrade). It's yours to keep if you want a project to work on & film, will probably be the worst repair job needed of a Panerai in TH-cam history.

    +1 for the manual hand setters, so much better imo. Before setting the hands though you can change the time until the date wheel clicks over. Right when it clicks, you can install all your hands all at the 12!
    Love salvage mods. Always looking through ebay for empty cases to build off from, especially skx’s. Since Im always upgrading the 7s26, dial, and hands I really just need the case.

    Looks great! Not sure about the hands though, a bit too chunky for my taste, but they do give a nice pop of colour to the watch. Plus orange and dark blue always work great together. The misalignment, missing indece and scuffs on the case wouldn't bother me one bit, on the contrary, they just tell an interesting story of life well (sort of) lived. A bit like the Rolex Bruce Williams forgot on his car roof and then sold totally demolished to some guy on the internet who restored it. I think the guy posted about the watch on Reddit and it looked fantastic, battle scars and all.

    • @kerpowski1
      @kerpowski1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here's the post on reddit: www.reddit.com/r/Watches/comments/70ozay/rolex_air_king_116900_bruce_williams_update/
      And here's a post about the watch when he got it: www.reddit.com/r/Watches/comments/638ylj/role_air_king_yes_this_is_the_bw_road_rash/
      I forgot that the guy is the owner of Toxic Natos. Apparently he paid 600 USD for the watch and estimated it would cost an additional 2500 USD to completely refurbish it. No idea how much he spent in the end, but I think the end result is just amazing. It's the perfect beater watch with a really interesting back story. Definitely the coolest Air-King I've seen.
