A lot of people just don’t want to do the work that it takes to maintain a marriage or the relationship. But then think that a child is easier… but they are not. Children are a blessing and a huge responsibility. The wrong partner makes child rearing almost unbearable. The marriage is supposed to be fortress and an anchor for each person to lean on and one is supposed to pour into the other and lift the other when they can’t go on any longer. People just like to use the excuse of “marriage being a piece of paper” so they can give zero effort, commitment, and remain selfish. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
The problem is there is not enough blk men marrying blk women simply because they do not want to meanwhile they hold marriage over blk women’s head to lower their self value
Also we know that men know when or if they want to marry you. We know some women keep having babies to keep the man around, only for him to leave and marry someone else. Or when that man dies, the baby mama doesn’t get anything (ex DmX’s fiancé) I married my husband and got my name on EVERYTHING. And he has life insurance. Marriage helps a woman a lot of it doesn’t work out or he passes.
It’s just sad because we know how this story unfolds. More broken homes and more kids not knowing what a healthy relationship looks like and they repeat the cycle.
I once saw a statistic that said that men are more likely to be active figures in their child’s life if they were married to that child’s mother. I doubt that having children outside of a marriage would cause a man to be a deadbeat, but there’s definitely a correlation.
Lot of times a mans treatment of his kids depends on their relationship with the mother. There was also something saying that when fathers find a new partner they tend to neglect their kids because they are no longer with their kids mother. So if a man finds a woman he is willing to make his wife, there's a good chance he'll be there for the kids.
That’s because most men treat the children at the level that the relationship is. If they are in a committed relationship aka marriage with the mother then they’ll commit to the children! If they’re not in a committed relationship with the mother then they’ll commit will not be committed to the children.
You doubt that having a child outside of marriage would make a man a deadbeat? The community is full of deadbeats. So much so that there are jokes about it.

This is a common occurrence within my generation(Gen Z) they get pregnant by their boyfriend at a young age.I think they believe that raising a child is all fun and games, but you must create an environment ripe for that child to prosper. There are several factors that come in to play with raising a child and it is overlooked by my generation.
Agreed. I can admit I am kind of guilty of this, and now I’m engaged and have a seven month old daughter. I know about five women who are either pregnant or have already had their babies (my cousin just had her daughter about a week ago!) and tbh, I don’t think any of them including myself really cared to think long and hard about having a child. One of my girlfriends who’s pregnant, her bf has cheated on her and she took him back, because he somehow convinced her that he only cuddled with this girl he cheated on her with, like…. I don’t even think she’s aware that he actually cheated on her, and she believed him when he claimed he didn’t… I just hope at the very least he takes care of her and the baby during and after pregnancy.
@@ohbooyourselves might be declining still doesn’t take away from the fact that at least 60% of these babies produced are not being welcomed into a tightly knit family bound by love.
Personally, I’m not congratulating any woman that brings a baby into a chaotic situation whether she’s married or not. This isn’t even directed at Flo Milli necessarily because idk her situation, I just mean in general
I hate hate HATE the fact that people say "marriage is a bigger commitment than a child" and "mariage is useless because you can divorce". Mariage is more of a security net for you and the baby. And how raising a whole HUMAN BEING forever is less of a comitment? You will be tied to the father for life. Like what's going on. And do y'all remember "16 & pregnant"? This show made me scare of being pregnant especially if the environment is not safe for me and the baby
I used to watch 16 and pregnant and teen mom, I was obsessed! I don’t watch it anymore but I do occasionally check in on the MOM’s, I feel like none of them stay with their child’s father except for Tyler and Catelynn. Like one out of the 40 people they had on the show. That show definitely set me straight!!
The only thing non black men do is marry the woman after the baby. Non black woman don’t wait till marriage, they be pregnant in the pictures gtfo 😂😂 a man go be a man regardless of his color, the only difference is I get and got a ring without a pregnancy or even sex tbh, just depends on the person
As someone who had a baby at 19, To any woman seeing this comment I want you to know that life will never be the same once you have a child. Every single aspect of your life will change so keep that in mind constantly.
Right, I'm 24 years old and I'm about to be 25 years old in December. I never ever wanted to be another statistic. People are supposed to be going against stereotypes being pushed against minority women such as African Americans and Hispanics being baby mamas.

A huge reason why I lovedddd Flo Milli's music was because of how untethered and unattached she was..like you wish you could lock me down -in your dreams type of energy, but having a baby daddy limits how carefree you can move. wishing her all the best tho

And tell men upfront that you want a LTR, and marriage. Don’t let anyone waste your time! If he’s not certain about marriage, then move on.

Maybe this is your opportunity as a rapper to get in the game while these women are at home taking care of their babies. Just stay on your word when you hit fame.
I agree Chioma, I’m 25, married and we have a son. My husband is truly a leader and I see how that impacts my son at just two. He even inspires me the way he leads to be a better woman. Also, my son knows his daddy is about business 😂 and he knows mommy will kiss a boo boo and be at every appointment, play date ect. I think it’s healthy for children to see those rolls in the household especially our young black boys. This world is cruel and we need to make it easier on our children by fixing home. Having healthy, respectful relationships removing this toxic mindset and focusing on the family .
Statistics and Tradition are facts. People should be MARRIED ORRRRR committed for several years before being pregnant. ANYONE CAN LEAVE ANY SITUATION BUT Marriage It makes it harder to leave, forces you to think before you get a divorce and helps the child see what it’s like to live under a united front. SHIT HAPPENS but too many people are ok with having kids for any and everyone then complaining later.
Exactly! At 38 it is now or never for most women. While some women are able to birth healthy babies, it becomes harder and more complicated as we age. Pregnancy is not for old ladies. Especially when black women are literally dying trying to give birth. Your best eggs have gone, and the older less healthy eggs can mean disabilities for the child.

Marriage is definitely not just a piece of paper, it provides such much legal protection for the child & wife if the man were to abandon his family / try to walk away. More protection than your basic child support. Less taxes, more rights in hospital visits. Marriage is definitely worth it if one is going to have a kid with somebody
I didn’t marry before I carried but we got married right after our second. (1st was about 14 months old). I definitely would say marry first! I wasn’t working and was able to be on my husband’s insurance. Many other benefits of being a spouse vs a BM.
I do not condone single motherhood in any group but it hits closer to home because it really is different for us. We have to want more than "like everyone else"
One thing that should be made clear is that these women are rich, so them being successful and not struggling is not what the average woman will experience. There is way more of a chance of struggling with being a BM for the everyday woman, so we should avoid emulating these women.
I think because these women are wealthy and have more resources/support systems, they must feel more comfortable getting pregnant without being married or fully committed to a man. It’s sad but I do think this is true to some degree, and it’s worth recognizing considering we are constantly seeing so many young female entertainers/celebs/athletes have children out of wedlock.
@@SapphicSis It's the main one, that's why a lot of single moms struggle so much in a one income household. And most BM's end up being single mothers. The celebrities and popular influencers just have the money to take that path without struggling as much, witch is why I said the average women should avoid becoming a BM.
As a married woman I will always VOUCH for women to get married. Sure he can leave you pregnant and all but spousal support + child support is something you will be entitled too and YES children will thrive better under a two parent household. Women must protect themselves from these men especially if they are successful and thriving on they’re own bc men can ALSO be gold diggers.
I grew up in a two-parent household, and I'm currently married with 1 child by my husband... I didn't grow up seeing celebrities as role models or something to aspire my life to be like theirs. I took that from the people in my family. I also have cousins that grew up in single parent homes and they are single with no children or divorced with one or two. Being raised by a single parent didn't stop my cousins from being successful or put them in the line of being a statistic. I just can't understand why actors and rappers are the pillars in our community and not the hardworking people who worked and retired from a job they worked at for 25-35 years?
I understand not putting pregnancy on people, but you’re literally dancing with your stomach out and someone is rubbing on it. This has to be the craziest form of gaslighting ever 😂
girls should see how these baby mama celebs are exactly what NOT to be..Learn from their consequences and take initiative in protecting your womb. finding a partner who values your respect and respects your values... likee its right in front of our eyes
We need to remember that these women have millions. Yes money doesn’t solve everything, but they’re not gonna be assed out like regular black women who do the same thing :/
Who has millions? You ASSUME they have millions. Flo Milli doesn't even really sell music, I don't know of any brand deals she has ans she's signed to a label (a multi billion dollar industry that is known to take most of the artists money) sooooo where are said millions? I make almost $160k a year and even I'm concerned I can't afford a child with what I bring home after taxes and bills. I don't have to spend anywhere near the amount of money these celebs do to keep up their lifestyle and image. You honestly think they just have millions sitting in a bank? Or is wiser to think that after all is said and done (or rather paid) they're living paycheck to paycheck and may bring home less than the average person?
@@butwhosaidthatshe has true religion and NYX brand deals, but I agree. I’m sure she lives very comfortably, not everyone is a multi millionaire. Wish her the best
On top of that they are basically opening the door for people who don’t have millions to be given bare minimum treatment. If The Little Mermaid didn’t mind having to jump through flaming hoops in order to be worthy of marriage, why should a teacher feel like she deserves more? If it was just a few BW here and there that’d be one thing but it’s every single one who has any kind of platform.
I think people are just more angry that flo milli got pregnant at the height of her career / on the come up .. while Megan is already an established celebrity so of course she isn't get as much heat.. But yeah people being annoyed with people leaning into black stereotypes also play into it as well for sure!
the only thing i wanna say is , wassup with the weird way she announced it 😂 like im sorry but when she literally called everyone out sayin she was just bloated , “ya’ll draggin it” .. like her hand motions & the song lyrics that both insinuated pregnancy & even the belly told us .. like girl you can announce your own pregnancy , thats fine ! but to post it , gaslight ppl just come back & say what we just said congratulations the first time for like ok .. kinda weird 😭
I’m seeing more marriages on my TL than ever before .So all this constructive criticism is working. Idk if the increase is due to genuine love or avoidance of scrutiny, but let’s just keep it up👏🏼
You need to yell this message to the people in the back. No one really needs to be having children at least for the next four years. The way the Trump administration plans on stripping every right for not just women but the working class. It's going to become even more difficult to raise children.
that’s what’s crazy to me, they think their money will protect them, their older family and children from what’s to come. showing how they have no concern for the state of the country they live in lol
The 2 parent household i don't agree with. Some of us actually grew up with 2 parents and HATED IT. I couldn't wait for my parents to divorce because it was toxic AF in my household. Peace came after my dad left tbh. The situation is not always better just cause mom and dad are together. I do agree with idc who is pregnant as long as it's not me, lol.
I was a teen mother.. baby mother and guess what I was lucky to have a man love me and my child we now have two babies together. Having a two parent house hold makes a difference. My husband made a difference my oldest her raising is noticeably different and it’s unfortunate that I did not wait in life and I fell into the “ I will always be there I love you” trap. Let’s stop having kids with men who won’t marry you. Stop having babies with low vibrational men.
The problem is not necessarily single black motherhood but the break down of the black family in general, including rapid single black fatherhood. All this leading to children being raised in separated household that consistently have less favorable financial, emotional, and social outcomes on top of systematic racism. As black people we can't fully overturn systematic racism but we can strengthen our own communities and familial structures. Having married parents isn't the fix to the crisis of the black family but its the start and the pillar.

That’s why stepdads are more active than a single BD.
Really, Where Did You Get The Statistics From? Because That Information Clashes With The Hundreds Of TikTok Storytimes From Exhausted Wives Of All Races Complaining About How Their Husbands Don't Help With The Kids && Use Weaponized Incompetence To Dump The Household Labor On Them.

It's amazing to share positive experiences with contraception because whilst not invalidating some people's experiences, I feel a lot of people fear monger regarding birth control methods so then they don't use anything at all and proceed with raw seggsual activities without marriage which is messed up!
Birth rates within our generation. And in general are declining actually.
@@ohbooyourselves might be declining still doesn’t take away from the fact that at least 60% of these babies produced are not being welcomed into a tightly knit family bound by love.

@AsToldByUfa whos babies?
Personally, I’m not congratulating any woman that brings a baby into a chaotic situation whether she’s married or not. This isn’t even directed at Flo Milli necessarily because idk her situation, I just mean in general

I don’t think it would matter because if they plan on keeping the baby then a congratulations is just words that won’t make any impact neg or positive

Not 16 and pregnant😂. I use to watch it I'm from South Africa and I also got the message loud and clear DO NOT GET PREGNANT.
The new excuse is now that it doesn’t benefit black women somehow

Good advice

A huge reason why I lovedddd Flo Milli's music was because of how untethered and unattached she was..like you wish you could lock me down -in your dreams type of energy, but having a baby daddy limits how carefree you can move. wishing her all the best tho
Always a baby mama, never a wife. Sad fr.
Sometimes I desire to be a mother. I’m 29 but I also feel like I’ll never meet someone who I see to be a good father, wants to be a father, and wants to be a husband. It’s hard and it’s not so easy to throw away that dream of having a baby
Vet!!! I met my husband at 22 and we married when I was 25.
Had my first baby at 28. And I know a lady who had her first at 37, then 39. Just vet and explore your options. And tell men upfront that you want a LTR, and marriage. Don’t let anyone waste your time! If he’s not certain about marriage, then move on.
Yup, and in our community we dont always have the village it takes to raise a child either 😢 families will watch you struggling because its good gossip

This amazing God bless your beautiful marriage ❤❤
Chioma you look so freakin pretty 🥹💕🔥
Statistics and Tradition are facts. People should be MARRIED ORRRRR committed for several years before being pregnant. ANYONE CAN LEAVE ANY SITUATION BUT Marriage It makes it harder to leave, forces you to think before you get a divorce and helps the child see what it’s like to live under a united front. SHIT HAPPENS but too many people are ok with having kids for any and everyone then complaining later.
Megan Fox is 38 years old. It’s a very different situation
Exactly and Megan isn’t at the height of her career. Her first children were had within her last marriage

As usual, our community is worried about the wrong things. Perhaps she didn’t want to be subject to bw’s assumptions & think pieces about her body during a vulnerable time. I loath the parasocial relationships bw create with wealthy celebrity bw.
@SisterLocsNthusiast and yet here you are writing a think piece about BW you don’t know, instead of preparing, organizing, or strategizing for the next 4 years. You’re just chastising BW on a channel that is about celebrity culture. Be so for real with yourself. If you loath celebrities so much, go watch political content
Idk if she’s embarrassed, because I don’t know the situation regarding the BD. But her music always gave off the essence of being too good to be a BM

As a married woman with 2 kids we’re still veeeerrryyyy cautious because kids are a lot of work.😂😂
I agree we’re more mindful about it too
Marriage is definitely not just a piece of paper, it provides such much legal protection for the child & wife if the man were to abandon his family / try to walk away. More protection than your basic child support. Less taxes, more rights in hospital visits. Marriage is definitely worth it if one is going to have a kid with somebody
And the cycle continues… 🤷🏽♀️

They’re not all rich.

@@SapphicSis It's the main one, that's why a lot of single moms struggle so much in a one income household. And most BM's end up being single mothers. As a married woman I will always VOUCH for women to get married. Sure he can leave you pregnant and all but spousal support + child support is something you will be entitled too and YES children will thrive better under a two parent household.

Im not bloated, I'm just stupid.

My husband made a difference my oldest her raising is noticeably different and it’s unfortunate that I did not wait in life and I fell into the “ I will always be there I love you” trap. Let’s stop having kids with men who won’t marry you. Stop having babies with low vibrational men.
Chioma you are a beautiful, classy and graceful woman. Whew.
Chioma, you’re glowing 🥰😍🥰😍
The problem is not necessarily single black motherhood but the break down of the black family in general, including rapid single black fatherhood. All this leading to children being raised in separated household that consistently have less favorable financial, emotional, and social outcomes on top of systematic racism. As black people we can't fully overturn systematic racism but we can strengthen our own communities and familial structures. Having married parents isn't the fix to the crisis of the black family but its the start and the pillar.
Also I think some of them still can have a career. Brandy got pregnant but still had a career so why not them? 🤷🏾♀️
