  • In Africa, the human population has grown exponentially over the last 40 years; therefore the competition for land and food has too. Herders and farmer have resorted to using pesticides as weapons to kill wildlife. Since poisons stay in the environment, this disastrous practice ends up affecting every other animal in the ecosystem. This animated video explains why pesticides are misused and how Africa’s wildlife is affected.

Humans have been using pesticides to kill wildlife in Africa, which causes a disastrous trickle down effect into the rest of the ecosystem. What are your thoughts on this misuse of chemicals?

Humans are generally very creative at getting the job done efficiently. I mean, why kill one species when you can destroy them all, humans included. One day, just one day hopefully, we will learn to co-exist in harmony (just like NG's previous video about the Warrior Watch). Thanks for sharing National Geographic.

Umm... NatGeo where’s the solution to the problem?! You can’t drop truth bombs like these and not have potential solutions to fix these problems. Should African nations ban these chemicals? Should better education be implemented to the public to reduce the misuse of these products? Like what efforts are being made on this issue?

Is this a big problem? What percentage of people harvesting meat or killing lions do it this way? Wouldn't that be a good thing to add? Is this technique already illegal? Well, yes.
Fun fact: It's against the law to use a pesticide inconsistent with its labeling. If it doesn't say, specifically, that you can use it to kill lions? You can't.
