Long time viewer, but we finally got down here. Missed our life style visit for health issues, but we're all better now. Rented between Lake Sumter and Spanish Springs for the full month July. Bought a house (Mockingbird) in Lake Denham south of Sawgrass yesterday. Very quick process with First Citizens Bank doing the mortgage and opening up a bank account. I can drive a golf cart between the rental and purchased house, but it's an hour on cart paths, (multi model ways). Did you know that after 3 PM championship golf course charge $31 for 18 holes.
Hi guys I've been watching your videos throughout this year...Thanks for all the information you provide. I was down on July 18th for a couple of days and coming back on August 22nd. Both times meeting with my Realtor. My third visit will be a Life Style visit in October and my target date for my full time move is April 2024. It's getting close. Thanks again, I'm subscribed!
Hi Jan & Debbie! This video is much appreciated! It’s a clever way to give us some interesting information…. By also going to the locations and … your music along the drive under the trees…. Lovely!!!
I had a timeshare condo in Kauai, Hawaii for 13 years and they have a tunnel of trees on the way to Poipu it about 2 miles long so every time I go through the tunnel of trees in The Villages brings back great memories. So I go through it a lot.
Lots of July Info, Hey Debbie since you are an avid Tennis player, what do you think about the Pickleball trend?! and has it come to the Villages? Would you play if it comes to the Villages!? Say Hi to Jan, and make it a wonderful week, though this is August!! :)
Hi Mighty! Oh YES! Pickle has more than made it to TV. 241 courts 😵💫. For me, I have not turned to the dark side 😂😂. I have tried it, but as of this moment, I am sticking with tennis. I do play platform tennis though from time to time and I enjoy that. You have a great week as well and yes, happy August! Also, thanks for watching!
After 3pm you can do unlimited golf but it only applies at the 3 courses that have only 18 holes. But it’s still over 100° with the heat index at 5 lol
Use a location map and find the Saddlebrook Rec Center. It is right along the Saddlebrook Golf Course. 😁. If you are traveling via golf cart, we suggest you download The Villages app. It is a big screen square icon with a white “v” on it. You can put in any location and then mark it for golf cart and it will keep you on the paths. If you use Google maps or another app like that, it may send you on roads you aren’t permitted to have a golf cart on. Thanks for watching!
Does that little path that takes you to Walmart also take you to Aldi's? If it is, that is so Twilight Zone that you mention it as I was looking for info on that yesterday!
When you say people came from Florida, where did you get that stat? When we bought our 2nd place they classified us as being from FL, even though we are still technically Michigan residents.
Well, we did get it from TV. As you know, when you buy, they know where you are coming from. We would guess that they are taking the information from your ID. Yes, that makes sense then that their data may be skewed a bit if you move from one Villages home to another. Thanks for the insight on that!
Debbie look back at video you did a year ago - wrote a question for you there there - It won’t allow me to copy and paste. It is under the video - “ the 10 things Debbie likes about the villages”. Denni
I’m proud to say I’m probably the first to have a bicycle fall on one of the pathways in Newell. I tried to bull through a sand washout, but lost control and had a spill. After a few days of rehab, I’m back on the bike! 😊
Hi Cheryl! TH-cam videos can help. There are quite a few channels with all different perspectives. If you are able, there is nothing that can replace a visit here. The Villages offers “lifestyle“ visits. You pay depending on the season starting from $99 per night. They put you in a home or villa here and give you a cart and bicycle. They also throw in golf or a show or some other perk for you to try. We would also recommend you look at all the areas to figure out what suits your lifestyle. Feel free to go out with a realtor. They really aren’t pushy, but are great assets for information. If you know there are activities you are primarily interested in, they could give you guidance as to where best look. Everyone here (for the most part) likes to travel by cart, so it is good to be sure some of the amenities you are interested are close by. Thanks for the question! Jan and I have lived here for quite awhile and have owned our homes here since 2001 and 2009, so we have a little different perspective than some of the other youtubers. If you click and go to our channel, we try to cover some topics to help newbies and old timers alike!
@@thevillages365 thanks! You answered one of my questions, What are solar tubes? Finally! I’ve been looking at listings on a realtors website and after this video today it put a lot in perspective. I did not know about the trees being removed being a problem. Thanks so much, I would love to meet you two someday. 😎
I agree about doing a Lifestyle Preview Visit if you are thinking about moving to The Villages. I did one several years ago. There is no pressure from the sales rep to buy. I probably spent a total of 3 hours with the sales rep assigned to me looking at homes. I did tell him upfront though that I was several years away from buying. If you can visit for the full 7 days, I would recommend it as those days will fly by
@@lauralampe1664 I’m thinking about it. I have so much to do to get my house ready to sell and getting there to visit. Did you buy new or pre owned home. What neighborhood or area did you like and buy in? What do you think of adjusting to the hot summers? I’m in mid Atlantic now, summers are hot and humid here. We are at 99 degrees these last couple days. Thanks
@@cheryllancaster7268 Hi Cheryl, I have not purchased in The Villages yet. It is on my short list of places to move post-retirement. A friend of mine bought a preowned home in The Villages 11 years ago, and I have visited The Villages many times since then. My most recent visit was in May. If I were buying today, it would be a preowned home north of Lake Sumter Landing. I don't think I want to tackle a brand new home with a $23K or larger bond. The homeowners insurance situation in Florida has me somewhat concerned. I have heard so many reports about insurance premiums going up by large amounts. I know what you mean about getting a house ready to sell. I just replaced most of the flooring in my home earlier this month. Next up is painting, but that will occur in early 2024. I am not planning on retiring until December, 2024, so I still have a year+ to get things in shape. 2024 will be the year of the purge for me. If I do a long distance move from my home in suburban Chicago to The Villages or wherever, my furniture is not worth moving. I visited The Villages in May, right before the humidity started. I have been to The Villages enough in July & August, so I think I can deal with the humidity as long as the A/C works. Chicago has had very warm & humid weather for the past 4 days, so the A/C has been running 24/7. I would rather deal with humidity than snow, ice & 20 degree temperatures, but that's just me. Best wishes to you as you research The Villages.
Yes! During the winter rates (Jan-May). We are also “enhanced” which means we pay a membership fee of just under $1.000 per year up front to get reduced rates and priority tee times. This is for the championship course. The executive courses are all free. Thank you for watching!
Hi Milo! We are sorry to see you go. This video was on interesting things around TV. The tunnel of trees, history on Citizens Bank, apartments going in to Spanish, lighted tennis courts etc. We certainly feel that we are sharing some things that people may not know. We have done videos on the realities of living in TV, which does unfortunately include some down sides (as would any place anyone would live). We try to be genuine and truthful. Wishing you all the best!

Did ya know how much I enjoy these videos?! Did ya know that Chitty Chatty was an Indian Chief? It is fun to say though.

One round of golf is $105? For two ?

Did you know Florida has more cows than Texas ??
I had heard that! Great factoid!
Ladies...are you aware that you come across very critical/cynical. I no longer watch your podcast because of ALL the negativity.
