I sympathized with Koba when he's like, "this, human, work. this, human, work. THIS, human, WORK!!" Dude had a point lol.
The best antagonists are the ones you can sympathize with, there's no way someone who was tortured their whole life wouldn't retain that perception of them.
Hell yeah! That was a great scene.
I did too, although I was really hoping Caesar would then say "this human work" and point to himself and everything around him, for if it weren't for humans in the previous film none of the apes would have become this smart
illHam9 Thats arguable Cuz Caesar was a fluke. He was born that way.
illHam9 Dude that would have been AMAZING.
My favorite part was when koba was pretending to be stupid and joke around and mess with them and then he just grabs the gun and wastes them out in the open as if it was nothing.
Same here
The way he shot the first one though......awesome
Bruce Lee that was hella tense
@@shawklan27 yeah and the look of terror on the second guy's face was awesome
Koba outsmart them lol
Koba has probably become one of my all-time favorite movie villains.
saame
the scene when he first killed humans at the armory was FUCKING EPIC. best villain NA
yh same here
*****
You seem rather definite on calling most everything in this movie cliched; just out of curiosity, what do you see as cliched about him? He seemed rather original to me with genuine emotions that people can understand and possibly relate to on a certain level. Honestly, if there is anything about this movie that it has going for it the most, it is its originality.
Whoa, man. Chill the fuck out. He didn't call it the "most original film ever". You put words in his mouth. He said "if there is anything about this movie that it has going for it the most, it is its originality."
Sure, the movie used a lot of tropes. That doesn't mean it wasn't good. It takes a lot nowadays for ANYTHING to be original. Just relax and have some fun.
That one ape who tells the humans to run is called Maurice. Do not call him Ape call him Maurice because Maurice was an absolute badass in this film and deserves to be called by his name.
*her
Maurice is a male orangutan, you can tell by his face shape, females don't have the flaps on the sides of their faces. The actor who did the motion capture for him is a woman though
@@tigermouth11wtf so it's a transgender monkey 🤮
I love Maurice so much. My favourite character
Maurice was my favorite. So cute and loving
My favorite part was whenever Caesar calmed down the tribe by doing very simple things. Raising his hand, standing, just saying NO, etc.
+Brandon Layne That's my favorite scene too but not the part where Caesar stand but the part where Koba showing all his scars and what he's been through with the humans.
FireStormBaller Yea me too. My favorite scene began with Rocket destroying the guns (since his son was shot) and ending with Caesar stating how Koba only learned hate
+Team VLCN by far my favorite part is when he picked up that camera and started to remember the good times he had with james franco.. by the way i was actually waiting for james franco to show up in this movie as a sort of old guy but he didn't which made me a bit sad :(
"I thought we had a chance."
"I did too."
Heartbreaking and perfect.
Did anyone else think when Kopa was hanging by the ledge ready to drop and die that Caesar should have said "Long...live...the king!" like in Lion King?
I honestly thought "Long live the king" when Koba shot Caesar... just sayin
Yeah that's funny I totally did!!
Funny thing is in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes Caesar says that exact line when he frees the apes from the command post. I have a feeling not too many will know what I'm talking about.
actually it reminded me of the bridge scene where kopa kicked Jacobs off in the helicopter in rise of the planet of the apes.
I honestly like how they said it in the movie. And what you purposed, no offense, sounds cheesy. When Koba said to Ceaser ape dont kill ape, and Ceaser said Koba no ape. I thought that was a good line as is.
You know your watching an awesome movie when there are two armies against each other and don't know who to cheer for. I came into the movie thinking I was purely going to cheer for the apes, but because of what Koba did I couldn't help but want to cheer for the humans too.
I'm happy I'm not the only one who had that feeling as well. You can't go against the apes, but at the same time you couldn't go against the humans, who for the first time in movie history aren't dicks trying to conquer everything.
This was a very solid and well-written movie, I can't wait for the sequel.
Too many movies are too black and white. Real emotion requires the ambiguity of grey.
Lol, talk for your fucking self because most people root for the apes, who gives a fuck about those boring ass humans? It was about the apes and what Koba did was fucking awesome, so yeah, most people said that the human characters were flat, uninteresting, and boring, which they were.
Malachi Coleman Absolutely not! What Koba did was a tragedy yet, a tragedy that I can understand why he did it, however, a tragedy that caused the humans to defend themselves. The humans felt desperate, they felt real. They had motives to get electricity to help provide for them, and for once they WEREN'T jerks trying to take over everything.
Agreed, as badass as the movie was I was surprised it had heart and genuinely made me feel for both sides. Great movie
My favorite part...
Koba: Caesar weak!
Caesar: Koba weaker!
...FIGHT!!!
Best part
Maurice *turns and looks at the humans*..."Run"
Best part: end credits
Agreed with all these. Plus, the very end. Closing on his eyes like that was wicked powerful and cool. Loved it lol
Or when Caesar gave those humans that death stare to them and shouted GO!
I loved the scene when koba was messing around with those 2 guys then he just picks up that machine gun and kills em
kobas weapon
Dude that part freaked me the fuck out cause I was not expecting that. I loved that scene
Did anybody see the way Koba went? In Rise of The Planet of The Apes, Koba shows no mercy for that one guy, begging for mercy on the helicopter and just drops him the water. In Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Caesar shows no mercy for Koba, and lets him drop in the same fashion. Did anybody see that?
Yeah that was what I was thinking about too
Jerry Harbor Oh, thank god, I'm not the only one.
Whoa. . . like seriously! I never really noticed that! Going to see it again next week and will watch that part to see how similar they are.
Plus caesar was making the same facial expression to Koba that he did to Jacobs in Rise (before he gave Koba permission to kill him). That was when i noticed it.
Everyone saw that
This, Edge of Tomorrow and X Men have been the most enjoyable summer juggernauts so far this year.
I hope Guardians of the Galaxy will be the same.
Too Bad How to Train Your Dragon 2 isn't raking just as much dough......damn you comedies and Michael Bay
I want it to be better
I really agree with that comment!
RandomMindz Dragon will maintain a steady income, even to DVD/Blueray sales. Transfomers and other shit will sputter out and die before the end of their theater run.
I just want a movie with Maurice
After Ceasar, my favorite ape is Maureece! I want a friend like him :(
I loved the Easter egg they hid in the film for Garry Oldman fans. In the scene in his office with the iPad if you look to the back right of the room you see a police peaked hat that looks remarkably similar to the one he wore as commissioner Gordon. I thought it was a nice little gesture :)
He never once wore a hat as James Gordon? o_O
... Jim Gordon
***** true but to most hes better known as Jim gordon
Even better the fact that Oldman when talking through the bullhorn yells out "Everyone" just like in Leon the Professional...
Does anybody else wonder why Rocket never really had a confrontation with Koba. I mean, he did kill his son. I just think it would have been fitting if, like in the first film where it looks like Caesar is about the kill that guy on the helicopter before he steps aside for Koba to kill him, it looked like Caesar was about to kill Koba and Rocket stepped in and killed him. I don't know whether that would have been better or not. I can't tell.
You do have a good point, but Rocket was in chains. So I guess he couldn't confront Koba. Also, I think it is Caesar's place to confront Koba because he did tried to kill him. But you do have a point indeed.
Thank you and I can see why it really had to be Caesar though.
Yeah Caesar felt betrayed from his best friend, and Blue Eyes told Caesar what's Koba is doing.
Maybe Rocket could have like walked up and said, "You are no Ape" line after Koba says, "Ape kill no ape" (or whatever the line was) instead of Caesar and then Caesar like acknowledges that and lets him fall as in the film and then they like hug or whatever. That way you kill 2 birds with one stone and it would've been hella dramatic.
Rocket seemed like a bit of a coward, in Rise after Caesar humbled him and in Dawn when he was upset about his son being shot, he seemed very weak. Wimpy.
My fav part..when koba shows his scars and says human work..human work..
Yassss!!!!
Agree
Yep. That was very effective
One of my favourite parts of the movie was where Maurice told the humans to run. It was actually pretty powerful; up until now, we'd never heard him talk...he's always used sign language, and the fact he broke that silence to warn the humans was pretty awesome.
My favourite part is the part where Ceaser said "You are not an ape"(obviously not exacly the words but you get the point) to Koba and then he dropped him, that was the right thing to do,I hope that in this reboot humans and apes will live togther eventually and both sides will accept eachother.
'Koba not ape' or something like that
I can't be the only one who was annoyed by the fact that despite constantly using guns, the apes are never shown knowing how to or even reloading any of the guns. I mean for fucks sake, Koba squeazes about 100 rounds out of that assault riffle in the fight with Caesar with no issue. I realize they could be picking up and using more guns, but no ape is ever shown carrying more than two guns. Loved the movie, just gotta say that took me out of it a bit by the end.
that's nitpicking already! i mean monkeys with guns and talking and riding horses?!?! and not reloading takes you out? hahahah
i was wondering the exact same thing. but then again there we SO MANY FREAKING GUNS in that armory that i wouldnt be surprise if they were just grabbing guns with new clips as soon as the one they were holding ran out of bullets
There are lots of scenes where they old 2 AKs
All movie guns have unlimited ammo. I thought everyone knew this.
Actually at the beginning of the battle, Koba is holding to SAW Light machine guns, and they hold ALOT Of rounds, and if you watch carefully, he switches guns a lot
I guess those new planet of the apes movies are like the Nolan batman movies to the batman franchise. ..
Except with way more emotion. Seriously almost cried in a few parts.
I would say that they're better.
They both got Gary Oldman.
Spot on. I wish other franchises managed to pull off the same approach.
They pretty much are. This film is my favorite film I've see since TDK first came out.
So the next one is gonna be Conquest of the Planet of the Apes? I feel like how its going is its remaking the older movies but doing it from the beginning of how the apes took over. So, does that mean some how were gonna have some guy from the past show up on future earth where the apes have taken over and humans cant talk? I look forward to finding out.
I feel like the next one will be the war, which should be awesome and better than this movie and Rise(I hope) and maybe the next movie IS Planet of the Apes, which I wouldn't mind a reboot of that exact film, since in Rise you saw astronauts flying to space, I wouldn't mind seeing that movie following a new human protagonist in this total alternative world(but they cannot do the Charlton Heston line at the end, they cannot) but only negative wold be that in that movie, there would be no Caesar :(
***** Thinking the same thing through the entire movie. Besides, Rise shows a rocket carrying astronauts. I think it was on a tv or something.
***** Rise and Dawn pretty much ARE Conquest and Battle. Besides, in the original series those two took place before Planet. I can only truly see them remaking Planet next.
i loved when Caesar falls and the ape turns around and says "RUN"!!!
I froze for a second when that happen
quinton dorsey me too!
joanna roccatagliata I shit you not right after that I yelled run and like ten other people joined in
Lmaoo!!!
+joanna roccatagliata yeah I know
both of the movies are truly amazing ALL HAIL CAESER
but this time fuck Cesar
ceser is amazing
Ave, True to Caesar
Love Caesarbut I loved when kopa pointed to his wounds and said "human work" on each wound he pointed at bad ass movie my favorite as of now
Teared up at when Caesar was watching himself when he was small...
Did anyone catch the imagery in Caesar being shot because it was "for the good of the people. Much like how the real Caesar was murdered? Obvious yes, but not many people know history.
Also at the end of the credits, you can hear rustling and ape breathing. Koba may still be alive.
By the way, does anyone see a trend of hypocrisy in movie audiences. In Man of Steel, Superman Kills Zod because of the HUGE threat Zod was, and the fact that he killed thousands of humans and was trying to kill millions more. He was in a no win situation and was forced to make a tough choice. Yet somehow half the audience hate on Man of Steel because "Superman doesn't kill" even though what happened was completely Justified.
In DOTPFTA Caesar straight up kills a defeated Koba begging for his life. Koba even reminded Caesar "Ape does not kill ape" even though Koba had tried to kill Caesar and already killed Ash. Yet when Caesar kills Koba everyone is happy about it. Even though Caesar didnt "need" to. He could have put Koba in a cage, he could have exiled Koba forever. He could have made Koba a slave. But he decided to end Koba (something i totally agree with)
Why do Animals get a pass yet Superman does not? Godzilla flat out destroyed San Fran in his fights knocking over several skyscrapers and he get a pass. Superman does not destroy a single building in his fight, yet he gets blamed for everything.
Caesar killed Koba, even though he didnt have to. Superman justifiable kills Zod to save lives and he gets hated on for it.
#hypocrisy
*Rant over*
Because.... Superman kills Zod at the end when he could've done it earlier, what about those thousands of people who were killed because of their reckless punch fest? (they fucking punched each other through buildings like a mad dog). And the hate for Man of Steel is NOT JUST BECAUSE OF THE ENDING, it's because of the overall third act of movie being bad.
The only thing about that is how it was gone about. Dawn did it in a way in which you could agree. But Caesar is not Superman. And it could have worked if they perhaps made Zod more unstoppable, like that was the only way to end it.
Say if Caesar had let Koba live. I believe the moment Caesar pulled him up, Koba would have struck. I, the audience, believed that, without any words to say it.
Superman, on the other hand, was already winning the fight, plus, Zod was not as developed as Koba was. And Superman had already let A TON of people die under his watch (I'm not talking about the attack on Metropolis, I mean the actual fight)
Also, the fact that we are still learnng who Ceasar is, instead; Superman is established, and they tried to do him differently, but it just didnt flow. I could have worked, but it didnt. Caesar, I knew where he was coming from, but Superman, I barely knew him by the end of the movie, he was just there.
General Zod
Caesar was already winning. If Koba tried to attack he could just slap him again.
Zod on the other hand WAS TRYING TO MURDER EVERYONE.
What was Superman going to do? Arrest Zod? Put him in handcuffs and drop him in prison then fly up in space smile at the camera and fly away?
TheDufase19089 That's not the point I'm making. What I'm trying to convey is that we(or at least I) felt the evil that Koba was capable of. While I knew Zod was bad and all that, I felt absolutely nothing when Kal killed Zod, when I was meant to. I knew it was an intense situation, but didnt feel it. And thats the whole point of a movie: the immersion. And Man of Steel tried, and failed at that on many levels.
Dang bro I thought of man of steel after dawn of the planet of the apes too but more on how they were similar they both had two sides that we're trying to survive and they were both fighting for the good of their people even if zod was I dick about it he was still trying to save his people and that's why I think of him as a villain and hero
I was surprised to find that I didn't think any character acted out of character or more violently than their backstory dictated. I thought that every character acted exactly the way they would have in that situation. I expected to be frustrated with Gary Oldman and the apes going to war, but every character acted correctly. Except maybe the ass hole human keeping a gun... but I can even see him doing that, despite how bad of an idea it was.
"Caesar brother to human. Koba fight for ape."
"Koba kill ape. Koba fight for *Koba*."
Caesar was too bad ass
Favorite part was when Koba said
"Caesar weak"
and then Caesar said
"Koba weaker."
My favorite part was at the beginning when the apes were hunting the deer. One of the best scenes I have seen in a movie in a long time!
Why nothing special about it.
ishowyouapple no
It had that awesome music that reminded me of those HALO jumpers from Godzilla. It was a great moment.
It was fine. Seemed like a stupid amount of work (and risk) just to hunt some deer. Guess apes like to be overly dramatic.
Yeah that scene with the bear was freaking amazing. Koba made a turn for the worse later in the movie but he was fearless then.
Is it me or did the ruined city of San Francisco was similar to the world of the videogame the Last of Us?
I thought the same thing
Yes! I was sitting there looking at some of the shots and scenes going, "I feel like I've been there before" and then realized why I recognized it
i really liked the part where you have Cesar allowing the protagonists to do their work their "human work" and hes talking to Koba and Koba's pointing to all his scars and calling them "human work" love the shit out that scene, also another scene was where Koba makes Cesar loose control telling him that "he loves humans more then apes" it really shows his cause and why he hates humans so adamantly, he only sees the bad in humans because that's all hes known to come out from humans
My favorite parts were when after Koba shot Caesar, and they were driving, then Caesar stopped at his house. When the camera showed the window, I burst into tears. Also when Caesar was talking to Blue Eyes. Then Caesar went up to his room, and was watching the tape of him learning the word "home". I was crying in everyone of those scenes.
The whole movie was AWESOME! I can't decide if I liked this one or the first one better! lol
Fav part is when koba takes over the tank and the camera spins 360 degrees with the turret and all hell is breaking loose all around
I forgot about that scene! Yeah that's probably one of my favorites too
I absolutely loved this film. Saw it twice, plan to see it again. Definitely the best film of the summer and one of the best films of the year. Obviously Caesar is the reason most of us have gone to see the film, but Koba really stole the show. You know that saying that "A good movie is only as good as its villain"? Well, it applies here undefinitely. Incredible, frightening performance by Toby Kebbell. Andy Serkis needs to win an Oscar already dammit. Oh, and Matt Reeves has proven that a movie can be run by CGI characters entirely without human characters. Michael Bay, you have no excuse now to not have a Transformers-only film! Matt Reeves, you take over!
My favourite scene was when Caesar was looking through the camera and Franco was teaching him signs. I literally cried. :/
When I heard Maurice talk...I sat there in shock n' awe. I turned to my mom and then turned back to the screen! IT WAS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best movies of the year, easily. Best scene in my opinion, and something that sums up all the movie, is the little conversation of the wounded Caesar with his son.
That was incredibly shocking. The emotions, the facial expression...! You can clearly felt the emotions, no need for sound... Just visual interpretation. It is amazing how all the apes in this movie can show realistic emotions. And Caesar is one of the best characters I ever saw in a movie. True leader, amazingly wise and fair. Serkis deserves an oscar, for me Ceasar is a better character than Gollum.
When that orangutan said, "Run"... I got chills and busted out laughing! That was just beast.
There were a lot of great moments in the film… but I have to say that while you were right on with Gary Oldman’s character, Koba while taking it to the extreme was also very understandable. His hatred of humans was completely justified. I will never forget him pointing to his scars and saying “Human… Work… Human… Work”
My favorite line was when Maurice said "RUN" because he knew the humans were fucked.
Maurice was probably my favorite character. why?
1) when he told the humans to "run" it had me in stitches
2) his loyalty
3) the bus scene
4) when you thought he died for a second after being shot in the head by Koba...I was in tears
one of my favourite parts in the movie, was when Koba is acting all cute and cuddly, then he blasts the gun right in both of guards faces, i saw it in the trailer but i watched it in imax so i jumped in my seat!!!
I enjoyed the symbolism and parallelism in the film. I first noticed the symbolism and parallelism with Malcolm and Caesar. When Caesar marches his family to the human colony and they are all at a stand off everyone is wearing black attire except for Malcolm, who wore white, which seemed to represent a sort of hope and light that only he had, initially (along with Caesar, of course). And with the Parallelism, Caesar = Malcolm and Koba = Dreyfus (even though Dreyfus wasn't evil).
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: 10/10
Transformers 4: 5/10
Xmen: Days of Future Past: 10/10
Godzilla: 8/10
How to Train your Dragon 2: 9/10
Face it Transformers 4 sucked ass but I did enjoy Transformers 1 and 3
Xmen was NOT a 10/10. :I That movie had so many huge plotholes and pointless things in it topped with a story that I found interesting. Of course, the story part is subjective. I was hugely disappointed with the movie though. It's fine if you liked it though. I agree with everything else almost 100% though.
ZazarStudios Haven't seen Days of Future Past, but I loved X-Men First Class & Matthew Vaughn's directing. The thought of mixing Brian Singer's films & characters from the previous films w/ the characters from First Class just turned me off from watching it.
Thought that First Class should've started a standalone reboot of the franchise, after the mess that was X-Men: The Last Stand.
Im going to modify this, slightly, but I do agree with the majority.
Achem:
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: 10/10
Transformers 4: *1/10*
Xmen: Days of Future Past: *8/10*
Godzilla: *10/10*
How to Train Your Dragon 2: 9/10
For me its
Dawn of the planet of the apes=10/10
Transformers:age of extinction=1/10
Edge of tomorrow=8.5/10
X-men:days of future past=9.5/10
The amazing spiderman 2=6.5/10
Godzilla=7/10
Captain america:winter soldier=9/10
Still haven't seen how to train your dragon 2 for some reason
ZazarStudios
Most of the plot holes didn't really take away from the plot because I discovered them on second viewing so it doesn't count.
There were soooo many moments in this movie that I loved so here's a few:
Casear dropping Koba
Koba showing his true colors by playing dumb for the humans and then murdering them
Any scene with Casear in it; not even kidding. Any time that Casear was on the screen at any point in time, I was fully captivated and engrossed with the film.
Koba jacking a tank
The epic clash on the crane
Fuck it. I'm not listing moments because the whole movie was my favorite moment.
My only and ABSOLUTE only complaint with this movie is the dude that sneaks in a gun and Koba kills in the truck. I may have missed something at some point, but he was a complete asshole and really didn't have a reason to be an asshole; he just was.
If anyone could please either correct me or confirm this, my one complaint in the whole movie would be gone; wiped away.
not all human beings are good, some are assholes. I've met people that are just complete assholes no matter what and yet they have no reason to be.
2dog14 thats true, but he was even like that turns that one lady, during the camp fire scene when he continued to ask her about her dead daughter. he was just a bitter man, they didnt show his back story but im sure he has a reason to hate the apes and be bitter towards humans as well
Matt Rodriguez
that's true. thanks for your insight
2dog14
I think he would fall under the category of Blatant Racist, or in this case Speciesist. The world he knew fell to hell, and he doesn't want to blame something he can't see, so he antagonizes the one thing the flu was named after: Simians.
This is pretty much exactly how racism works. There's no proof or solid reasoning, but they're too stubborn to consider a different perspective.
Favorite part of the movie?
"Ceasar weak."
"Koba weaker."
*commence epic primate duel*
At the end scene, as Malcolm says final "goodbye" with Cesar, his figure gradually fades into the dark as he paced slowly backwards, a metaphor for the fading of the human race. While the sun rise that shines onto Cesar and his family reaffirms the "Dawn" of a new world. Cesar even looks back for a second, reviewing the past, but then faced back to what's in front of him, the future. I love this shit!!
My favorite part is when the power recently goes on and Gary Oldman character goes to his iPad and it's at 74%. (That's just me nit picking)
The power has been on for a while at this point. You didn't forget that people were partying all night did you?
ZazarStudios Hey! ._. No comment.
OmgLazerPew Just reinforming you! :D
That's what I said too! Such a small thing but it detracts from my enjoyment just a slight tad.
ZazarStudios iPads don't charge that much that fast. Furthermore, the way he looks at the pictures give the audience the message that he hasn't seen these images in quite some time. Plus I'm sure keeping the lights on was more important than charging a relatively obsolete handheld device at the time.
Lyon TheGreat the iPad having 74% battery was what detracts you from enjoying the movie? I know you said it only did a little bit but seriously dude?
That fucking bear in the beginning...almost choked on my popcorn. Lol
Dude, Maurice is officially the coolest orangutan to ever be in a movie.
About a year after watching your non-spoiler review, I finally got to see the movie. Immediately after finishing it, I rushed to see this video - and it was totally worth the wait ^_^ I mean, your excitement is over 9000 in this vid!
My favorite part was the shot which was taken by a camera mounted on the tank. There were lots of great parts but that was the most memorable part for me.
GUYS, The Ape that Koba threw over the ledge was NOT his son. It was Rocket's son (the ape who bullied Cesar in the last film & Cear made an example out of him) His son was Ash (Blue Eye's best friend). Koba Never had a son, just Blue Eyes & Ash both looked up to him. Sadly he killed Ash. & yes, I almost cried during that scene hahaha
Yeah I thought so too.
I agree. Out off all the apes, I would've expected Blue Eyes(Cesar's son) to have shot him at the moment. Koba was a badass till he turned eveil
jackson wojnowski
Blue eyes really respected Koba because they shared the same belief in a way.
***** He never turned "evil".He just disagreed with the apes not attacking the humans. He had legitimate reasons to hate humans.
Davis Parks Killing his best friend's son is not EVIL in any way? Shooting his leader & failed in killing him is not EVIL in anyway? He was a badass character till he turned evil & tried killing Cesear, killed pretty much his nephew too.
HUMAN WORK, HUMAN WORK, HUMAN WORK
Hands down the best scene.
I'm calling it now, the next Planet of the Apes will be called "War of the Planet of the Apes". It just seems fitting for the way this one set up the sequel.
That would imply that the apeslose which I highly doubt will happen.
Dinner and lunch would fit perfectly lol and dusk
I already said once to a friend that a plot point in a future film will be the Chimps taking over all of the other chimps causing the films nameto be changed to Planet of the Chimps.
Shaun Wright AMEN
I just hope matt reeves directs the next one
There were many great moments in this movie and just as Jeremy said that every time you hear Caesar speak it's just movie magic. The most memorable moment for me, the first time Caesar leads the apes to meet the humans on horseback, that speech and the peaceful gesture of returning the man's bag.
I totally loved this movie! My favorite scene is when Caesar just talks with his son and having a heart to heart moment. And when Blue eyes speaks for the first time and his father smiles and embraces him. Such an awesome movie!
I saw the first one, and I liked it. Not that "like" that makes me hype for a sequel. So I went to see this one thinking, yeah it's gonna be cool. Jeremy gave it an Awesomestacular rating, and people have said good thing about it. Then I saw it and I went out the theaters thinking that this movie, was ten times better than the first one, it got me hype for a sequel, and not a single scene in the movie was boring to me. I could go and see it like 2 more times if I had the money, but I know is a must buy when it comes out in blue-ray :D
It would probably be on Netflix like the first one.
I see, I hope so :D
Loved the movie!! Only part I didn't like wa the change in Koba's character towards the end. In the beginning, Koba disagreed with Caesar because he feared for himself and his fellow apes. He knew humans were dangerous. Bt towards the end he just turns into an asshole out for himself. It makes it really easy to cheer against him. I prefer stories where the villain actually has a good motive for what he's doing
Imo it is a good motive, albeit a selfish one. He hated humans, all of them for what they did to him. He just couldn't supress his inner demons any longer and took action to gain what he wanted, freedom of the fear of being under human control again and vengeance for all the shit he went through. What sparked it all though was when he fought against Caesar the first time.
Like Magneto, for example?
I don't really agree about Koba because although his initial intentions were heavily themed, he eventually went too far
DarkHellSpartan Yea I see where you're coming from. I just wish they had made Koba fight for a more honorable cause. It jus seemed like too dramatic of a change in character for him to go from killing humans so that apes can live in safety, to killing humans AND apes so that he can rule with an iron fist
Mmm, I agree, that's the one thing I'd change about the film - maintain a more grey morality for Koba throughout.
Loved Koba and Caesar, just come back from the film and have to say I enjoyed every minute
Caesar is like a proud king. He has that control, the respect, and the posture even like when sits or stands you can tell this ape is a leader. Gosh I freakin loved this movie
The beginning is my favourite part. Where all the apes are hunting those deer. I was on the edge of my seat that whole time. And the scene you described where Ceaser finally realises that apes have become just like humans.
I fucking love how Caesar didn't just kill jobs he fucking lion kinged him but the bad guy died not mufasa
That's what I was thinking in the movie lion king kept popping in my mind and hamlet
I had to wait to watch the movie before I watched this spoiler video and FUCK THAT WAS AN AMAZING MOVIE DAMN. My favorite part was when Caesar's baby kinda just dropped from Blue Eyes' hand and ran over to the humans. It was adorable.
Also the creepy choir that's singing like they're possessed. Loved that too.
I liked the CGI Bear and Koba's epic takedown!
my favourite scene in the movie was when koba shouted "HUMAN WORK" 4 times at ceasar and all you see is ceasar slowly standing up as if to say "YOU'D BETTER WATCH YOUR MOUTH BOY" gave me chills.
During the scene where Caesar was holding onto Koba, I love the fact that without saying anything, you can see Caesar is conflicted on whether or not to let him go or not. You can see it in his face like "maybe I should forgive him" but then he looks over at Maurice and all the destruction that took place and you see it in his face that "no he must die". I just love the fact that all of this was understood without any words being said.
Yah Koba and Caesar were cool and all, but Maurice was the best! He seemed like such a cool dude I wish I could hang out with Maurice.
My fav part of the movie was the ending without a doubt...this was not a goody two shoes ending like most movies have these days..this ending was tragic this ending was sad..I really felt depressed when the movie ended...this ending was the exact opposite of Xmen Days of future past
Days of Future Past as a whole was pretty damn depressing.
kennith barron yep ironic how the two best moviees this year have the exact opposite ending
Anyone think Koba survived? Because at the end of the credits i think they hint at it because of the sound you hear at the very end
Oh man, I don't want him to survive. He was such an asshole. I hated that bastard.
apez be 4 times stonger then humanz tho
They'd have to be 400 times stronger to survive that fall. The ape Koba dropped off that staircase didn't survive, and that was a much shorter fall.
Diego but he fell MABYE!!!!! fell in the water? Hmmmmmmm?????
No. That's super dumb.
Ceasar was amazing. When he flips the switch from calm and collected leader to beast-mode badass... love it. I'm not a fan of Koba but when he picks up double machine guns... again, badass!
I'd really like to give props to that moment between Maurice (ape) and Alex (Malcolm's son), there was something just so heartfelt and amazing about two from different cultures interacting in such a peaceful way. One of the best parts of the movie IMO
The coolest scene in my opinion is when Koba was riding on his horse with two assault rifles in his hands and shooting them at humans while explosions happen in the background!! That scene was pure badass to me!!!
When Caesar was watching the video of his old life
Cry....
Actually, Jeremy... Caesar looked like he was about to pull Koba up, and then it shows Caesar looking at a wounded Maurice, then the camera goes back to Caesar, and then he drops Koba... so any of you think Caesar would've pulled Koba up had Caesar not seen an injured Maurice?
My favorite part of the movie was Caesar's growth as an individual and all his philosophical and heartfelt lines. Especially loved "Apes start war, and humans will not forgive." Powerful.
There was such a collection of awesomeness in that movie that it is hard to pick a favorite scene. But I think it would have to be when Ceasar brings all the apes to the human "city" and does the "Apes do not want war" speech. That was pretty epic.
when Koba was on the ledge and Caesar had him by the arm I was literally saying "Drop him, drop him Nothing Good EVER Comes when you DON'T Drop him." C:you are no ape *drops him* "Ok good didn't think you were gonna doit there for a second"
I heard that there is audio at the end of the credits of rustling wreckage and raspy breathing.
Oh s**t
Shaun Vega Indeed.
Shaun Vega Maybe War for the Planet of the Apes. After all, war is coming. And I'm not sure how important Koba will be when compared to a legion of paramilitary troops (I doubt they are good with the pandemonium caused by the humans and whatnot. I could be wrong.)
Or so
Was it the two survivors from Cloverfield?
Human work, human work, HUMAN WORK!!!!!!!!
I loved when the guy's son reads the graphic novel Black Hole to Maurice. It was such an interesting scene, and such an odd choice of an awesome but weird book.
I got teary eyed during the father/son reconnecting at Franco's place... and other scenes as well.
My favorite scene? "Run."
My favorite part was when the asshole guy pointed the shotgun at Ceaser's son. I was like is this dude crazy. Then ceaser slammed his ass and started pointing the guy at everyone lol. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was the best movie I have ever seen.
My favourite part was
"Ape not kill Ape"
"Koba not Ape" and then he drops his ass
My Favorite part of the movie is the conversation where Caesar tells Koba "just let them do their human work". And koba points to each of those brutal scars. "Human work? This is human work. This is human work." The villains in all great movies have motivations that make sense. When Koba sees us humans and thinks "Fuck them" he's got pretty compelling reasons.
I think my favourite bit was when Caesar and his son were talking in James Franco's house, I finally saw them have some father son bonding, it was great.
This movie had the best fucking one liners.
my favorite was when caesar was holding koba and said "Koba... Not... Ape."
Chills
My favorite part of The Dawn is when caesar looked at his old video when will was teaching him Sign .
You know what I noticed right at the end when they did a close up of Caesar's face u saw his eyes start to turn brown, and the whole reasons his eyes were green was because if the drug, so I think the sequel is gonna be about the drug wearing off and they start turning back into normal apes
That wouldn't make any sense continuity-wise
TheHasmith99 It would also be stupid as shit.
Technically, the virus-delivered drug just stimulated neuron growth. Even if the virus/drug completely left his system, he'd probably keep his intelligence. What this means for any future child's intelligence I cannot say, but I don't think they'll go down the route of any apes losing intelligence. It would be diverging from the established lore.
well technically he was born that way. now if that was to happen to some other ape that had just been given the drug, than maybe. but for the ones born like that, and the fact that we know how it all ends up, unless they change it, that's not what it means.
***** I saw the movie again a few days ago. His eyes don't change at all.
My favorite part of this movie was right at the end when Caesar and Malcolm have their moment and then Caesar turns to the crowd of apes collecting on the stairs. Malcolm sort of fades into the shadows of the doorway symbolic of how humans are now fading into the shadows of history. He turns and then stands there as all the apes offer their palms for his forgiveness for turning away from his taught ideals.
My favorite moment is during the ape assault on the human city. It is the point where a tank tries to take them down, but Kobe latches on and attacks the tank then uses it to bring more destruction to the human city gate. Not only was that badass, but was probably one of the best SHOTS of the movie.
great, you spoiled dark knight for me.... i'm unsubscribing
Hahahahaha XD
The movies been out for more than 2 years dude...get out of that rock you're living under and watch it already
He said spoiler alert smartass. Should've been prepared
fagget243 2 years? Your math is quite wrong sir. Movie came out in 2008.
Spoons Garcia i think he is just kidding
to be honest my favorite part was when koba killed the guys trying out the guns lol and that douchebag who was trigger happy, glad he was killed! i almost had a heart attack because he almost killed blue eyes and baby cesar (not really his name but who cares) also i agreed with Koba a bit he had a fair point! the humans had more than enough firepower to wipe them out, although he got power hungry and just lost it! kinda like shane from the walking dead. power gets to peoples heads. the movie was perfect though!
Every time Caesar spoke it was complete silence in the theater.
IKR!?
It really remind me of that book Animal Farm by George Orwell. That book disturbed me so much and the movie had the same feeling with the apes becoming what they hate, more so Koba. It also shows you another point because by the end Cesar ends up with a war like many of the apes that follow that wasn't theirs, it was Kobas. It really does a great job reflecting that with the government and people who start wars and make it other peoples issue when they have long died. Like another point I like with when Ceasar told his son "think before you act" because he almost cost someone else their life or this case the bear.
The last line of Animal Farm: "The creatures outside looked from pig to man,and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which." It totally applies to the Koba and his apes. Ceaser and the apes loyal to him just wanted peace.
Did anyone else notice the music at times was reminiscent or the original 1968 movie? That jungle sound of the Brazilian instrument called a cuika sent chills up my spine. And seeing apes on horseback is a terrifying image... yet very cool.
