The first whole turn of game one and tho were not played correctly. The mill player could not cast archive trap. After fetching, shock lands do not affect the stack, so the jund player still had priority. Same thing for the surgical extraction. Might seem minor, but he ended up surgicaling a combo piece that the jund player could have played that turn
This is a fair point and in an RCQ setting or a competition that is Comp REL I'd 100% call a judge and let it be known that the action of fetching and finding the shock has already occurred. In this setting, however, it's on the Jund Roots player to be okay with whether it resolves or not based on when the Archive Trap is cast. A lot of times at the table it's about sportsmanship in a moment of absentmindedness.
@@MTGScoundrels nono, that was not the issue. That was a shortcut, showing the archive before even putting the Land on the Battlefield, i get It. The point Is It cannot be cast anyways. When the shockland hits the ground, the jund player still has priority, so the Mill player cannot play anything unless the jund player passes priority, plays something or used some ability. In the First case i doubt he passes priority, seeing that he cicles and Cast stuff After the archive. And the rule breaking occurs in the game way the second game
I play mill every once in a while and I had this same thought. I was like, “he doesn’t have priority yet” and it was especially impactful in game 1 when the jund player still had opportunities to cast things before archive trap went off. However, even if the mill player had waited for priority (response to cycling street wraith), he would still milled over at least one cookbook and surgicalled it then, and the result would be the same.
