The entire day, this was my hymn to praise him for all his faithfulness. I spent the last week in the hospital with our special needs son, battling pneumonia. This song ministers so powerfully. It changes the atmosphere when we worship Him!
I first heard Lenny sing this song in 1992 from a cassette tape given to me by my new boss at a brand new job at a bank in Western PA. I have never stopped listening to Lenny. He voice has helped me through many difficult time in those 32 years. From the death of my boss at the bank due to Lou Gerhigs disease to to the death of my partner to a brain tumor at a company we started years later. Not to mention a hundred other crisis’ over the last 32 years. His voice is as beautiful as it was those many years ago. Can’t wait to listen to Lenny in Heaven singing to our Savior King Jesus. I might even join in if he doesn’t mind singing duo. 😂

This song brought me back my tern years, when i was a new believer of God, and at 4am i would walk to the church for our Dawn prayer. Im almost at my 50s now. Im teary eyed with this song, this year we have lost dear friends, coach pastor,chutch members and family members. Most of these we cant go to say our farewell due to covid restrictuons and protocols.
After reading your comment I just wrote this with the Lords help. I hope you get something out of it. During covid many have missed farewells. Grandpas, and mothers, children and parents, brother, sisters, grandmas and dear friends have been locked away from each other by hospitals and governments. People have died lonely, confused, without the physical touch that love often demands. They have died with strangers, or worse, alone with a blinking cold machine as eyes flutter their last. But oh. The comfort and the reception of the Lord Jesus Christ. I can only imagine as the eyes flutter closed for the last time, as the heart beats its last painful beat, as the final lonely brain wave flickers across the window pane of time... Then in the twinkling of an eye that dead body is left behind. And suddenly the one who felt forgotten, or who was abandoned on earth is ushered into the presence of the most loving kind and gentle but all-powerful Jesus Christ. Jesus who also died forsaken, who died next to strangers, who also died separated from his family by Roman soldiers. This Jesus stretches out his arms to you and says come. Touch my nail scarred hands. You have made the city. Here are your white clothes. And suddenly you are clothed in glowing white, perfectly pure, spotless robes. And he says, YOUR name is in my Book of Life and he takes you by the hand and points and proclaims your name in a LOUD voice before the Father and the Apostle John and the angels and the whole heavenly host Shouts out your name. Faithful! Holy! Redeemed! Your new body cannot contain the praise and the joy and a lone tear slips quietly down your cheek. And the Lord, King of Heaven reaches out his fingertips and wipes away that tear with a touch like you never dreamed possible. The Creator of the universe says ‘My child, there is no crying here, no more death, no sorrow, because here, all those things are defeated. For the redeemed in glory behold all things are new’. And oh how sweet the reunion of our family, in our Father’s house. I have so often thought of what Heaven must be like. My imagination falls far short. But one of my cherished thoughts is that I don’t believe there will be any strangers or any awkwardness in heaven. We will know perfectly and be known perfectly and be in perfect community with God and our heavenly family from all through time and around the globe. The martyrs. The unremarkable. The heroes of the faith. The praying mothers. The courageous fathers. The ones who did not defile themselves with the sickness of this worlds rebellion. The redeemed. Our perfectly revealed and timeless family. The bride of Christ. For some like myself, who doesn’t connect easily with people this is a glorious comfort.

This song brought me back my tern years, when i was a new believer of God, and at 4am i would walk to the church for our Dawn prayer. Im almost at my 50s now. Im teary eyed with this song, this year we have lost dear friends, coach pastor,chutch members and family members. Most of these we cant go to say our farewell due to covid restrictuons and protocols.
After reading your comment I just wrote this with the Lords help. I hope you get something out of it.
During covid many have missed farewells. Grandpas, and mothers, children and parents, brother, sisters, grandmas and dear friends have been locked away from each other by hospitals and governments. People have died lonely, confused, without the physical touch that love often demands. They have died with strangers, or worse, alone with a blinking cold machine as eyes flutter their last.
But oh. The comfort and the reception of the Lord Jesus Christ. I can only imagine as the eyes flutter closed for the last time, as the heart beats its last painful beat, as the final lonely brain wave flickers across the window pane of time... Then in the twinkling of an eye that dead body is left behind. And suddenly the one who felt forgotten, or who was abandoned on earth is ushered into the presence of the most loving kind and gentle but all-powerful Jesus Christ.
Jesus who also died forsaken, who died next to strangers, who also died separated from his family by Roman soldiers. This Jesus stretches out his arms to you and says come. Touch my nail scarred hands. You have made the city. Here are your white clothes. And suddenly you are clothed in glowing white, perfectly pure, spotless robes.
And he says, YOUR name is in my Book of Life and he takes you by the hand and points and proclaims your name in a LOUD voice before the Father and the Apostle John and the angels and the whole heavenly host Shouts out your name.
Faithful! Holy! Redeemed!
Your new body cannot contain the praise and the joy and a lone tear slips quietly down your cheek. And the Lord, King of Heaven reaches out his fingertips and wipes away that tear with a touch like you never dreamed possible. The Creator of the universe says ‘My child, there is no crying here,
no more death,
no sorrow,
because here, all those things are defeated. For the redeemed in glory behold all things are new’.
And oh how sweet the reunion of our family, in our Father’s house.
I have so often thought of what Heaven must be like. My imagination falls far short. But one of my cherished thoughts is that I don’t believe there will be any strangers or any awkwardness in heaven.
We will know perfectly and be known perfectly and be in perfect community with God and our heavenly family from all through time and around the globe. The martyrs. The unremarkable. The heroes of the faith. The praying mothers. The courageous fathers. The ones who did not defile themselves with the sickness of this worlds rebellion. The redeemed. Our perfectly revealed and timeless family. The bride of Christ.
For some like myself, who doesn’t connect easily with people this is a glorious comfort.
